IN RESPONSE TO gotdablouse... A woman walked along the line with a bucket, handing out tickets with six digits, one per person obviously. The numbers weren't completely in sequence because of the randomness of it. That took a while. Then she came back to the front, asked Ed - who was the first in line - to choose a ticket from a duplicate collection, and they added *maybe?* 150 to that

QuoteMax'sKansasCity No matter how people get their insider info, they work hard to get it, they pull the strings, find the angles, fly to the fkg city of the show, get in cabs to run around town looking for barricades, they spend lot of time doing it, they are not cheating, they are working hard to see a band they love, and if that band thinks it is smart to do an end run, trick play, lott

To clarify, they gave concert tickets to people near the end of the line, those with winning numbers above 312900 or so. Those up from we're in the 311000-odd range.

To clarify, they gave concert tickets to a bloc of people near the end of the line, those with winning numbers above 312900 or so. Those up from we're in the 311000-odd range.

QuoteDan Seriously, anybody doing any stakeouts with Stones stuff on is an idiot. You will attract all the wrong attention. Of course you are a fan. No one gives a shit. Dan, we hope you are in sight of Shuggie Otis, right now

According to noted music historian Peter Guralnick ... One hopes this might inspire Mick to dust off the song he performed to such devastating effect in 2003.

QuoteDoomandGloom It's sessions like this with Mick and Joe that keep the music we love alive. In part thanks to Rolling Stones "classic" rock seems to be still immensely popular. Now if some of these legends can make legendary music again I'm all aboard. At the time I thought this generation's last hurrah was around 25 years ago when Paul Simon released Graceland but

I wish I had known about D&G before walking out of the movie after 10 minutes. Second thoughts, I doubt I could have suffered any more inane mayhem for a mild Stones payoff. Little T&A was great in Argo, though Tattoo You wasn't out yet when the action unfolded. Maybe that cost Ben his Oscar nomination.

Quotesuperrevvy "Jann Wenner wanted to start up a magazine to be called Rolling Stone, and had invited Mick and, in so far as the other Rolling Stones counted, the other band members to buy 49 percent of the shares. Mick could not raise the money required, which was 5000 pounds. He asked me if Leopold Joseph would lend the money to him. But my partners were not prepared to give a

The film is front-loaded with cool Stones references, but David Chase should have cut to black much, much sooner.

We've all seen movies that have used Stones music and wondered how much the licensing fee was - but of course no one ever spills the beans. I am accidentally watching a terrible Miley Cyrus movie called "LOL," and the director states in the commentary track that it cost $100,000 to license about 56 seconds of "You Can't Always Get What You Want" for a mom-daughter si

Quotelatebloomer So it's worth it to check with the box office before the show and see if you can trade the ticket in for a better seat? It seems that you are all talking about London shows, does anyone know if this works in the US? Depending on your appetite for risk and suspense, I'd check in at the box office on the day. Extra tix often become available once the staging is set up

So true. I have a modest collection of lyrics and other memorabilia from my days as a journalist, and the No. 1 Rule - always - is to assume that everything is fake unless you personally saw the signature being done.

Shout out to Lynyrd Skynyrd in first verse (though they were fairly sober when the plane went down 35 years ago next week) ... Lyrically similar, overall, to "It Must Be Hell." Rhyming "gloom and doom" with "boom boom boom" is embarrassing. Lousy production, though listening on an iPad doesn't help.

Suggested preflight reading: connected Stones expert Harvey Kubernik's "Canyon of Dreams, The Music and Magic of Laurel Canyon." This elaborate coffee table book offers a very colorful and detailed picture of the scene, with a detour to Monterey. Another sight to see: The Phil Spector murder house in the outer suburb of Alhambra. The various celeb-laden graveyards are also a blast.

Off the top of my head there is not much Stones-related left standing in southern California. Places like the RCA recording studios in Hollywood and the auditorium out in newly bankrupt San Bernadino where they played their first US gig are long gone. I think some guy crashed his plane into the latter. Venues like the El Rey, where Mick played in 2001, the Forum, the Palladium, the Wiltern, and t

While Mick acquitted himself superbly under the circumstances, I feel he blew a wonderful opportunity both to redefine his musical legacy and to open up exciting new possibilities. Lorne Michaels gave him a blank musical canvas, and Mick played it safe by covering some well-known Stones songs with a pair of mainstream rock bands who don't need any more exposure. The a capella gospel open

I was at the 94 and 97 shows, and I did not mention the alleged Meredith aside in my personal notes, though I vaguely recall subsequent scuttlebutt about such a comment. Altamont was always on everyone's minds when they played the Bay Area, especially in 1994 when the 25th anniversary was coming up. And Eddie Vedder noted during Pearl Jam's opening set on Nov. 14, 1997 that "There&

Could have been some clever editing, but it looked like the actors were at the actual show. Yes

The drummer, Alan Myers, was just at my place 30 minutes ago. He's now an electrician in L.A. Nice chap. He used to jam with Ronnie during the latter's Mandeville Canyon days, and was asked to be on (we guessed) Gimme Some Neck, but felt uncomfortable doing extracurricular work.
