QuoteThe Sicilian Regardless, a private funeral doesn't mean people can't line the streets and say goodbye as the hearse passes. Common decency means you don't do anything the family doesn't want done. There are other ways to mourn Charlie as a fan that don't upset his family and friends. It's not about what any of us want -- it's what THEY want. And someone w

Nonsense. The Stones have broken boundaries their entire careers and gotten flak from morons about it, and they're doing it once again, working through their later years instead of deciding to curl up in a ball and wait to die provokes an awful lot of people, like you, for example. So, so many people crave their later years because they think it validates their lifelong ambition to be useles

I saw her open for them at the Capitol Theater in Passaic, NJ -- she was nervous as hell, getting her sea legs again after her recovery, Keith was helping her with that. I cringed at some parts, because for some perverse reason, she kept commenting on how young the crowd was, like no one would know or care who she was, as if she wouldn't have anything to give them, and as if any real Stones

Oh God, everyone's so worried about growing old, how about growing up? Stop looking for Daddy to make all your decisions for you -- it's not the Stones' responsibility to determine what you do with your life, it's yours. You have the information, you decide whether or not you want to risk it. Use that dormant organ between your ears and weigh the pros and cons -- even if th

@Grichka One of the great ironies is that Stones fans, with scattered worthwhile exceptions that are only found by fortuitous accident and rarely by approaching any Internet watering holes, can easily be mistaken for any given Rosary Society meeting, fire house rummage sale or Monty Python skit ("Cooee, Jean Paul!!") A bunch of old gossips who haven't anything to do but indulge in

Posting ignorant, bottom-feeding speculation and making cruel remarks doesn't make anyone a "rebel," give me a break. That is the practice of cowards with empty lives and room-temperature IQs, and I will bet the rent that if any of these "nonconformists" ever had to break with the pack and take a stand on any issue in a forum outside the Internet, large or small, they

When I saw the Who in late '82, Townshend didn't look at the crowd, didn't say a word, had an attitude for the entire show, so you just shrugged, everyone else played great, Daltrey included. Then a few days later, Townshend gave an interview saying he was so upset at this show because Roger's sister had passed away that day -- apparently the poor thing had been ill for some t

I remember an interview with Bill during the '81 tour where the interviewer said something to him like, well, really, the Stones aren't a democracy, what Mick says goes, and Bill said something like, not at all, I'll give you an example, the rest of the band outvoted Mick on our choice for keyboard player for this tour. I think Mick was so disgusted with all the drug use, and Mac w

Quotescottkeef @Thommie...I was a bit let-down when years later I realized that trademark drum intro to so many DC5 songs was someone else! I would have like to have actually seen a live performance by them to check out their "real" chops! I really don't know too much history of them, for instance if they were a bona-fide performing band before fame... I saw them twice, afternoon

Read both, then read Neil's and was so grateful that, unlike Keith and Pete, he never mentioned Mick's dick. I hated Keith's, thought it was false, forced and unnecessarily cruel, and not just to Mick, Keith used to be funny and cool, now he TRIES to be funny and cool, and it breaks my heart. Didn't like Pete's too much either, all of that moaning back in the day about ho

I saw Pete 20+ years ago and talked my way backstage, nervous as hell -- I wanted to ask him to sign a program for a celebrity auction we were going to hold to build a new wing on a public library. He gladly agreed and I handed him two programs -- what's the second one for, he asked. For ME, I replied and got a smile and a little twinkle in his eye. What a dear man. The new wing was built,

Saw Jefferson Starship at Radio City in '75 and in Central Park in '76, Grace and Marty, can't beat that with a baseball bat. Went to see the Jefferson Airplane reunion at Radio City in '89 and it redefined painful, the only time I wasn't cringing was after their intermission (!!!!), Jack and Jorma came out and did a little acoustic Hot Tuna bit that was magic, but the re

Unthinkable abuse inflicted on women in the Middle East alone, few people pay attention, fewer care, and fewer still do anything about it, but THIS is what these twats find objectionable. I'd hand in my ovaries but I've grown rather fond of them...yes dearies, make a name for yourselves by fighting non-fights instead of going after the real evils, which you are probably incapable of han

This is a real sicko situation here, Stewart, who is a prick and always has been, gets some sort of kick out of jerking them around, and I know Woody is at least a part-time idiot, but I don't know what's wrong with Mac and Kenney, but something is, they play into this every time, and they keep coming back for more. Have a little dignity already! LET IT GO! I loved the Faces, but the la

All I know about Ga Ga is that she does good things and likes to wear meat (and Elton loves her and hates Madonna, go Reg), what she could do with the Stones, and this goes for Bruce and the Black Keys and whoever the guys invite to join in, is something I'd like to see and hear. They may hit, they may miss, but it's interesting, and I like to see people collaborate, especially when it

I knew a girl who paid $120 for a pair of tickets in the yellow section of the Garden scalped to go to the concert for Bangladesh. Her rent was less than that. This is nothing new under the sun, even for a benefit performance. Whatever happened to that bit about being prosecuted if the ticket was resold for more than a buck fifty? Stub Hub is nothing but organized crime.

I know, when the guy told me, I blurted out, oh give me a @#$%& break, and he laughed. When I went to see the film Lincoln, I found out they were showing a 70 mm version and the ticket was four bucks more. It's all a crock. I'm skipping the HD bit, I remember desperately trying to watch Gimme Shelter on Channel 5 in New York on a B&W TV with a coat hanger aerial and my having to eve

Quoteelunsi it seems that I am the only one who finds some of these pictures somewhat embarrassing . Mostly the first one... Count me in, it just all seems so phony, and there's one shot of Angela where she is practically hiding and that's it, either they gave her the shaft or she opted out of trying to compete with that blonde amazon parade.
