I saw, and this is off-topic, a really great guitarist last night . Redd Volkaert. I reckon that should be its own thread though.

QuoteStonesLO Wouldn't it be refreshingly nice for a change if they announced their entire touring schedule for 2023 at some stage soon? Give us all, wherever we are, potentially something to look forward to. They’ve been doing that for a long time

Darryl has done his job. Personally I’ve appreciated the way he plays, it’s a different style than Bill’s but .. the way I see it, Darryl being with the Stones so long, after Bill, is yet another example of the professional good fortune the Stones have had - Mick T after Brian; Ronnie after Mick T; Darryl; and now sadly but for the good of the band , Steve. extraordinary good fortune it see

i had several of the Ramsey Lewis Trio albums .. once I got into that instrumental piano trio stuff, I found what he does to be a lot of fun to listen to. Saw him several times. Most enjoyable to listen to. A gentleman.. maybe my favorite album of his is ‘Funky Serenity’

so much discussion about a new album! so much projecting ! now it’s understandable, the hesitation.. new album would have to be strong as it’s likely the last. No doubt a bit of tribute to Charlie also will be included if they do release a new album.

They didn’t have to do it at all. One of their greatest songs. Deserves a less abbreviated treatment..just my opinion..

wondering why, now that it’s certainly possible, the decision was made to exclude the harmonica blast so prominent in the studio original? ..that part has never been done live, has it? I just love this song and it has had many arrangements over the years, live..

Quotestonesrule You thought wrong re "millions in the bank." I loved Stu and have always wanted to own this book. It's worth every penny, and that's something I feel about very few "rock books." Stu would have been completely amazed that one exists. one could be forgiven for the thought that Ian Stewart, such a key part of the Stones (founding member), would hav

QuoteKoen Keith reminds me of this self portrait by Rembrandt: a magnificent painting. Rembrandt put all his life’s experiences in his late self-portraits. He made and lost a fortune. His art was not particularly in favor, after having a great run in his thirties. Almost all his family was dead. Yet he’s there, the paint showing us what surviving and honest work looks like.

Hi Hairball .. I was just on another post on another platform about Bill and the airbrushing out .. he apparently chose to have that, for new releases he wasn’t involved in not sure if what I read is accurate though ..

hmmm .. naive of me, maybe , but I thought Stanley Booth was referring to them having sex in the back of the airplane, when he wrote that about ‘punching that crazy Anita’.. anyone else see / read it that way ? I must say it never occurred to me that he was writing about him hitting her ..

QuoteSpud Whatever the truth, It is all rather a shame really. For the Stones to continue in their autumn years as a three guitar band...spreading the load over six aging shoulders...may have been a good and very interesting thing to see and hear. autumn years .. more like winter, now .. but still a great band and show.

now that we see how Steve Jordan has stepped up it makes it easier to imagine that Waddy Wachtel might be tapped to tour if Ronnie God forbid goes. Keith would know first off if Ronnie would want that which he probably would .. but I just hope this doesn’t happen.. it’s too diluted at that point. And Steve Jordan is so good with them! Just so glad he has Charlie’s blessing and the band is

Let’s agree that solo albums by Keith are generally better than Mick’s .. and except for George’s theirs are better than any of the Beatles’ solo albums

I think he became guarded and very careful, and also very emotionally protective, after being basically rejected by his father. It’s a triumph for Bill that through his grandmother he discovered the love of music and performance. We just have to be thankful in postwar London, the Stones found each other out of that adversity.

they love their time onstage, with each other. They don’t do anything unless they 100% want to do it. They’ve now got a drummer who knows how to play with them in a way that makes them happy even though their great drummer and friend has died. Lots for the Stones to consider, though: it’s a matter of not doing harm to the 60 years of a band, by going on more tours that don’t really make sens
