a true rock star on stage and on recordings. A visionary artist and an icon who did things in his own way. heard Ziggy on the radio driving to work and the DJ then came on with the shocking sad news.

Metalica was an unusual one 3 yrs ago in SF. Many came just to see them and they did try to play their greatest hits to appease the Stones fans. The best was Geils. They were at the top of their game in '81 Maybe Skynard was the best ever judging by the tape

I had $85 tickets at Oakland. The line started moving at 7pm. Thousands of people in line I would guess but it snaked around so could not see the whole line. I got section 114. Side of stage on left side 7 rows from floor. Very good seats. The people in front of me in line got the pit. The envelope had a black line on it. The person passing out the tickets waved to the wrist band guy behi

Winterland had closed a few years before that. The Old Waldorf was much smaller like maybe 500. Just to correct a misstatement, while Bill Graham did buy the Old Waldorf and run it for awhile, he closed it when he opened Wolfgang's at another location.

In SF there was a smallish club called the Old Waldorf (later called Wolfgang's when owned by Bill Graham). I had a friend who worked at the adjoining comedy club (the Punchline). He let me into the Old Waldorf one night to see the Stones equipment set up on stage. There were roadies so I couldn't get too close. Everyone was saying the show was going to happen, All the activity insi

Mick was invited to honor Solomon and put on a good show. He did both. He brought the energy, age has nothing to do with it, and showed that he is the consumate entertainer (that we already knew he was) and a pretty good singer.

I like more than I used to although it still is near the bottom of my list. I would rate at at least as high as ABB (but well behind BTB and SW) among later albums. I still don't like the 5 songs from Sparks will fly to Out of Tears. But the last half has grown on me. Songs like Sweethearts Together, Blinded by Rainbows, Baby Break It Down, Thru and Thru make it worth an occassional listen

I was pointing out to my daughter how Mick was working the stage and audience unlike just about all the other acts. Her comment was that it was not fair to compare to the other acts because Mick has had 50 years to figure it out. Left me speechless.

that is funny that there is a new sign. That would kinda of suck like having no identity to be in those dates. And what is with Scorpio only being a week long??

Nothing against SF as it is often my #1. But I think the songs on EOMS are underrated. With the length and similarity of several songs I think some of these gems are taken for granted. Like Torn and Frayed, Turd on the Run, Ventilator, Let It Loose, Stop Breakin Down (I know it is a cover). If some of these had been held over for one of the next ones, or came out for the first time on the Exi

very Back of My Hand ish. But more authentic and incredible. Mick's vocals are sublime.

I think overall it is a good article with real insight into the music. But the title does not fit the article's premise. The sensationalstic title implies that making EOMS was the cause of the band's decline (to be fair probably some stupid headline writer rather than the author). But the part about the lack of black people at Woodstock tied into the Stone's "racial politic

I went for the Target package (USA) of the new tracks on CD plus the T Shirt. I do not feel need for new EOMS CD unless there are rave reviews about sound. Only thing bad for now is that I have to wait another week to receive in the mail.

I was worried to hear his comment about being rusty but was pumped up after seeing the interview about how great he sounded and how healthy he looked. Maybe this EOMS rerelease will get him excited about playing guitar and writing new songs. Hope so!

as everyone knows Midnight Rambler is over 9min, the longest hit (in a warhorse sense rather than charts) from a Stones studio record. Played live I have one that is like 13 minutes but I presume that it has been longer sometime. CORRECTION: sorry for bad info, it is on YaYas that MR is over 9 min, on LIB it is 6:53 as pointed out by Gazza. YCAGWYW (and CYHMK if you count that) is a longer stu

Green Grass and High Tides by the Outlaws is 10min although they played for double that live. The song name is taken from the Stones greatest hits "Big Hits(High Tides and Green Grass)"

I only listen to radio occassionally in the car but I did hear the last half of it on a Sacramento classic rock station. I am pretty sure they played the whole thing but I had turned on the radio and it was on.

most websites are terrible about running old stories as if they are new; MSN is the worst I see. I think it is stories that generate clicks get repeated periodically. But this Yahoo story is dated today. The guy's degree in journalism would be annulled; that is if he actually had one.

I caught it after being tipped off here yesterday. Very confident performance by the Stones given being Oct 64. All but one were covers that they probably had played a hundred times before. Each of the band members could be heard and got camera time. It seems all the acts were told to rock hard and it seemed loud to overcome the screaming. I guess they were told to smile a lot too as they we

They looked great with lots of energy and power. Great stage and lights. I think this worked for the casual fan. I have caved in on the purist approach to the superbowl. I think they have to use the tapes and with the length of their songs the medley is understandable. It seemed like lots of Roger's vocals were on tape but I was pleased to hear him sounding better than some of the thing
