I remember reading about the show in Bill German's Beggars Banquet. He mentioned Jeff starting to play the opening to Just Another Night but then Keith looked over and gave him a dirty look.

I'm sure soccer will have an increase in popularity similar to when Pele played with the NY Cosmos. The reality of it though, is that with football, baseball, basketball and hockey, North American's don't find soccer to be exciting. I don't want to watch a 90 minute match end in a 0-0 tie. There's lots of kids who play soccer at the minor league level and it's fun

From the reports I've read on line, it looks like VH will reunite this year with DLR, although now it seems that Ed's son Wolf will be playing bass and Mike Anthony is out! Not sure who'll appear onstage for the Hall of Fame inductions. It has been reported that Ed is pissed off with Mike and Sammy for touring as the "Other half of Van Halen", to which Ed says "Ale

Cowboys choke tonight! That botched field goal attempt, which was basically the same as kicking a point after attempt will haunt Tony Romo the rest of his career. Not a huge fan of either Dallas or Seattle so I didn't care who won but I thought for sure Dallas had the game wrapped up.

Hey JJFrash, I think Grossman is on every Bears fan's shitlist! What a letdown the New Years game was, even though it was a mean nothing game for the Bears. Bears defense hasn't been playing very well lately, either. Regardless, they still have home field advantage next weekend. Hopefully the weather is nice and cold!!

Already commented about it on another thread. I don't think the venue is "tired" looking. Opened in 1983 and looks great on the Vancouver skyline. Just as old as the Minneapolis Metrodome and Indianapolis RCA dome, which are similar visually. I think the main reason there has been so many new stadiums (stadia?) built in the US over the last decade is because they want more luxu

Saw it on the local news today. From what they said, they've already ordered a new piece of the teflon roof and it should be here next week. They said it shouldn't take too long to get the new piece attached and then have the roof re-inflated. Sure have had weird weather here this winter. First heavy rains in November, then snow, then winds and wet snow today. Meanwhile, it'

I don't mind Leno or Letterman, although I'm usually watching Jon Stewart/ Colbert Report instead of those two. I watch Conan occasionally but never watch Craig Ferguson, who I just don't find funny at all.

Gotta agree with Koen on this. I didn't find the show funny at all. Can't see it lasting more than a few episodes. I burned tonights episode and I'll probably burn the rest, however many episodes that is. If you want to watch a great US comedy, watch The Office, or better yet, watch the original British version! I just wish that they would have made more episodes of that!

The Criterion collection version of Gimme Shelter which came out a few years ago has Little Queenie, Prodigal Son and Oh Carol as outtakes from MSG. Also contains backstage footage of Mick sitting with Ike/Tina Turner.

Thanks Beelyboy, I missed the thread. Didn't James make the quote or even have a song called "I'm gonna make them Rolling Stones wish they never came to America" from early 64?

Lizzy sure had alot of great guitarists throughout their history. My knowledge of the band in the early 80's was basically their Jailbreak album. I bought Renegade when it came out and I thought it was great. I remember taping a concert from that tour on the radio (perhaps King Biscuit Flower Hour) and it was awesome. The double live album which came out in 84 or so had a great version

Perhaps it's Stu or Ian McLagan playing the same notes on keyboard or Bill playing higher notes on bass? Regarding Blondie, I noted in the Vancouver review that I was surprised at how much he actually plays guitar during the concert. For the opening couple songs, I could see him playing guitar sitting down behind the area where Chuck plays keyboards, hidden from most of the crowd.

Actually, did the Stones make any press release regarding Brown's passing? I recall watching David Letterman back in the early 80's when he first started. James Brown was a guest and he asked James something to the effect of who he thought was the best band around and James replied "Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones". Lots of cheering in the crowd.

Thanks for the list Georgelicks (as usual)! Can't believe how big Andy Williams was back then. Also, more than 35 years later, the majority of the top 10 list can be considered "classics"! I honestly don't think that 35 years from now, any album on the current top 10 will be considered that.

I read that the tracks from these sessions were the ones Brian was most proud of, and in later years, would often play them for friends. They have been available in the Hot Stuff section several times in the past and I'm sure if you request, one of the many awesome people there will post them again!
