THE ROLLING STONES
SOME BOYS

COMMENTS:
This is a straight reseed of a kind share by mlejay.

Features a real "nugget"....."Shattered" from Lakeland 1978 in VG audience quality - much better than the source(s) available on CDR and CD.

I do have this original 7" myself. In fact I have 4 of them.
The strange thing is that all of them are really crackling, even though the vinyl appears to be "clean" when having a close look.
Just like the "Dirtiest Work" vinyl.......there are obviously no "clean pressings"

Anyway, this Some Boys vinyl rip sounds better than my vinyls, so thanks again

"BUSTER POINDEXTER AND THE BANSHEES OF BLUE wsg/ KEITH RICHARDS & DELBERT McCLINTON
TRAMPS, NEW YORK, NY, USA
FEBRUARY 23, 1984
AUDIENCE RECORDING BY FERN WEISS
SKOTF ARCHIVE VOL. 187

AUD>1ST GEN CASSETTE>STAND ALONE BURNER>WAV>FLAC

Today is the 1-Year Anniversary of the beginning of the unearthing of the SKOTF Archive. Volume 1 went up 4/4/10. After SKOTF pointed out that I had blown a big opportunity - shoulda used that 6-min Teenage Jesus show for this occasion - he mentioned this show as a possibility. "Huh? Buster w/ Keef?" was my response. After we both turned our living spaces upside down looking for the sucker I realized I'd had it all along (always a popular move). And who could argue with the choice for the big 1.0 - this thing is un-@#$%&-believable! Keith is so great here playing laid back blues. I'd definitely rate him as the number one Johnny Thunders clone of all time. But seriously, it IS really cool. Koonin plays bass on those songs so it's all Keith on guitar and he sounds wonderful. Delbert McClinton is just icing. And Fern totally brought home a stellar recording of the show. Lite chatter, nothing remotely inappropriate. (Girl-Taper = Big Respect from me - I personally have never met one) There may be a part two to this somewhere - it doesn't end with Heart of Gold - but I don't have it. Or, maybe it's right under my nose.

I think I speak on behalf of many many people when I say Thank You SKOTF for all this great music you have brought into my life. Working on these tapes has been a real privilege and a pleasure of the highest order with one mindblowing surprise after another. Your last shirt wont need a pocket and for that we are all very grateful.

QUALITY:
Good Audience quality

COMMENTS:
The first outdoor show of the 1975 US Tour....and a high-energy performance. You can hear that the band isn't quite as confident in each other as later on in the tour, but, to make up for that - there's a certain edge there - which makes this concert a joy to listen to (IMO). It's also interesting that Jagger hadn't really figured out how to do his vocals, this early in the tour - which makes his singing being a sort of combination of the "Taylor era" and the TOTA 1975 tour...it's quite different from the later shows of this tour. He's doing a great job in Kansas City
Note the "rare" songs; "Dance Little Sister" and "Sure The One You Need" - only performed twice in 1975 (allthough we don't know the setlist from San Antonio or St Paul) - and never to be repeated - apart from the performance at El Mocambo club in 1977.

Comment from:

Also in 1982 someone recorded a live show at the Ritz, New York.
This show appeared on the 2-LP set Let It Rock! (Vinyl Gang).
The interesting topic of this bootleg is the guest performer on guitar:
the guitarist is announced by Chuck Berry as "Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones".
Also the album cover states so. However, within the Stones collectors community it
is for sure that the guitarist was not Keith Richards, but Ron Wood! It's said that
Chuck just confused the two. Three sides of the album contain the complete show:
Roll Over Beethoven, Sweet Little Sixteen, School Day, Liverpool Drive, Memphis,
Let it Rock, Baby What You Want Me to Do, Mean Old World, Carol, Little Queenie,
Johnny B. Goode, Everyday I Have the Blues, Reelin' and Rockin' and House Lights.
The fourth side contains live recordings of The Rolling Stones performing Chuck Berry
numbers. Johnny B. Goode and Everyday I Have the Blues are said to be also on a Keith
Richards bootleg CD called Bloody Red Rooster, though I haven't seen one yet.

The art upped in the original share is from 'Where The Green Grass Grows' (Sweet Records SV-0078) vinyl release; this seems to be a rip of that ROIO.
However, every track length here is significantly longer than Rob's list shows.

This is not the same as midrambler's declicked and complete Hampton 1978 vinyl upload
dime torrent #148867 (which is no longer available).
1) this fixed file set is not complete. Happy and Shattered are missing.
2) #148867 had a large pilot tone just below 16K HZ on all tracks I graphed. That pilot tone is lacking on this fixed version.
3) there's vinyl noise on this share smiling smiley
4) the sound on this is warmer to my ears.
5) the song order on this share differs from the order listed on Nico's site,
[www.nzentgraf.de]
while #148867 reproduced the concert faithfully.
All kudos to the original uploader, cabledogg2, thanks to whomever ripped this set originally, and bless the taper(s), for they preserved the music.

To make this compliant, I had to fix the sector boundary errors in the original upload.
The original checksum, which did not match the files, BTW, and the original shn_tool analysis, is included for the completists in the crowd.
New fingerprints, whole-file md5, and shn_tool analysis was added to this fixed version.

Hoping this will bring out a copy of the vinyl, 'Grand Finale' (RS Hampton Coliseum, 1981) [www.stonesvikingrob.com]
and that you LUV this fixed RS vinyl-sourced set like I do!

Rolling Stones - Oakland-Alameda Coliseum Arena, Oakland, CA 1999-01-25 (Aud master)

This is a nearly raw transfer of my own DAT master I made at this show. It's probable that this was used as a source for silver CD boots of this show. It was a very good show with several first time ever song performances which made it very desirable to bootleggers. I circulated mastered CDs which got around and even possibly uploaded here. However this is a direct transfer with no mastering or CD in the lineage. All that has been done is a couple short fades on the pre show announcement track and at the beginning and end of the show and tracking of course. There are no pauses or other edits or changes at all. DAT made it possible to capture every second uninterrupted. I don't think any other taper caught the pre show announcement as it was 22 minutes before the show started. This is to make the purest possible version available for Stones collectors. I don't know what other comparable master sources exist out there. I had an excellent floor seat, great for the main stage but less ideal for the small stage which sounds slightly less good. Due to the awkward problem of recording the small stage, there is a bit of handling noise before and afterwards, but it's very minor.

its a different source. SM usually steals from VGP (even the bonus tracks are the same) and VGP is different from this one.

But in this case SM and VGP are not from the same source.

The Chuck Berry tracks on Bloody Red Rooster are probably from the Annual Blues Festival in Chicago, June 6, 1986!

Bloody Red Rooster is torrented at Hungercity: [www.hungercity.org]

Unfortunately the Chuck Berry tracks on the copy torrended suffer from jitter/diginoise...

Nicky Hopkins (solo piano)
Village Music 23rd Anniversary Party (16/44 Flac version)
August 5, 1991
Sweetwater
Mill Valley, California, USA

Here's a rare solo recording of Nicky Hopkins! It's the complete mini opening set from this special show. Careful research did not reveal any released material from this show.

Matrix mix of two masters:
#1: Dat soundboard
#2: SVHS Hi-Fi audio that had a live mono matrix of soundboard plus a microphone.

01 [0:38] intro
02 [1:56] instrumental >
03 [1:06] instrumental
04 [5:25] The Homecoming (instrumental)
total: 9:05

Transfers: SVHS master (TDK ST-160) > Sony WV-DR7 > Sony DVMC-DA2 Media Converter (DV Hardware Codec Converter) > Final Cut Pro (capture) > AIFF 48K export.

Soundboard Dat master > Panasonic SV-3700 (digital output) > Macintosh with Digidesign Audiomedia III card.

> Pro Tools (matrix mix, normalization, tracking and down-sampling - no equalization or DNR) > AIFF > xACT (level 8 files with sector boundaries verified).

Notes: The video of this set is being posted with other artists from this show in both DVD-5 and DVD-9 formats. I decided to post the audio sets individually to allow those with space or share ratio issues to try the audio before going for the entire video package. I do recommend all of the sets from this night - besides this one there are sections with Robert Ward, John Lee Hooker and Jimmy McCracklin with Ry Cooder (plus Lee Allen as audio only.) Carlos Santana, Albert Collins, Steve Douglas, Wayne Bennett and Austin deLone sit in at times during the show too.

I wasn't sure of what category to call this set but chose jazz over maybe "tin pan alley"...

Enjoy and SHARE!

Notes:

Les Paul Trio opened each show with two or three tunes but I've discarded that footage by trimming the videos and adding fades. I also cropped them to get rid of large black bars top and bottom. The audio levels have been raised as they were very low.

There are some minor problems with both the picture and the audio but nothing that will detract from your enjoyment, I hope.

The audio sounds wonderful, it has true stereo separation.

As I don't know how to handel thos matroska files I won't download it!
It would be great if someone can convert them to a dvd format and post it here at IORR.

Chris from Belgium (coowauters) has also made a dvd from the livestream, he will share it after 24th May.

Hi Enrique,

I downloaded one of the sets to see if there was any difference in quality with the DVD I prepared to upload day after tomorrow (or maybe tomorrow evening Belgian time, depending on how much Gb I have left. I'm at 6 Gb, so I have to watch out these last 26 hours cool smiley:-)

Anyway, there's no difference, sound nor audio between the MKV files and my version.

I decided to make a DVD with 4 parts;

1. Les Paul Trio first set
2. Mick Taylor 1st set
3. Les Paul Trio 2nd set
4 Mick Taylor 2nd set

So people have the choice; if they want to hear the Les Paul Trio, they can. Otherwise they can skip those and go directly to the MT sets.

I made a very simple menu, I hope people won't have any problems with it, but I think they'll know how to use it :-)

I'm not sure yet, but I think I'm only going to upload it to Dime, not Wetransfer. (unless there are a lot of people who lost their download privileges at Dime because of a bad ratio (although that's there own fault and they'll have to admit it in public before I will consider Wetransfer winking smiley )

All the best from Belgium,

Chris

Notes:
This is a partial set. Unfortunately, we had to run to another
show before this one ended. We thought we'd post it anyway because
there are sure to be some Chuck Leavell fans out there. Except for Statesboro
Blues, this set has Chuck doing songs from his excellent new album 'Back To The
Woods: A Tribute To The Pioneers Of Blues Piano'. Well worth checking
out.

The sound isn't exceptional on this one, but the music is right and it
comes through just fine. We are sure you'll enjoy it.

Upgrade of one of Bob Dylan's best ever performances is available on DIME now, in case anybody is interested

Rolling Thunder Revue 1975-11-04 late show Civic Center, Providence, RI Warburton-Moore-Berger AUD

Description Moore than a year ago, Rob used his shake and bake oven on Jimmy Warburton's 3.75 ips copy of his long gone master if this show. Turns out, Jimmy's back-up had been made out of order for reasons too long to go into, and it's release was met with "excessive" conversation.

Lat month, Rob found Jerry's copy of Jimmy's original, and it was a nice fat 7.5 ips in the correct order!! As noted below, 3 songs were missing from Jerry copy, so they have been patched in from the original Warburton copy. And now for the show!

As received. Enjoy!

Note - None of this show appears on the Dylan Live 1975 album.
