Because I'm downolading free megauploads without help of any manager and I never experienced ANY problem, including Utrecht download. That's why I'm saying there is no problem with megaipload. If you want to face problems, try filesonic for example.

that it would sound much better if you use as a source a vinyl rip
posted by Zagalo in 2009 here:

Thanks for the link. The source [VGP253-278] for that remix s-u-c-k-e-d. I know the remix sounds thin, but listen to it next to the source.

I'll see if the new source is worth improving (let's face it sometimes these vinyl rips are better left as they are). Thanks for the link

The following show was added to the index on page 1 of this thread:

1981.12.18 Hampton Coliseum, Hampton Roads, VA [Composite DSP Mix]
sources: "Grand Finale" [Le Soir's] vinyl rip & "Twenty Flight Rock" [Glimmerpub]

Paul Kersey
Did you think anymore about a remastered Hampton '81 using those vinyl sources that were uploaded here?

I'm not sure if this is what you were looking for, but I think this version works better than the original idea.

The Glimmerpub tracks sound like (maybe how) the TSP version was intended to sound: bright and punchy, but not with that over-driven bass distortion. The Le Soir tracks were nearly perfect to begin with, so the loudness was raised with very conservative harmonic excitation and multiband dynamics applied.

A lot of people might feel that the VGP release "Twenty Flight Rock" is the preferred version for CD release of this show, but the sound on there was too cooked to sit alongside the "Grand Finale" tracks, so I went with the Glimmerpub release and applied a matching EQ -- a digital linear phase EQ formed from snapshots of "Grand Finale" and applied to "Twenty Flight Rock" -- to get the sound close enough to where it wouldn't sound jarring when the sources changed.

Thanks! It's good to hear positive initial impressions. I almost scrapped it because it began to sound no better than any of the other releases of this show (i.e. over-processed).

The following show was just added to the index on page 1 of this thread:
2003.07.22 Cirkus, Stockholm, SWE [Laughingsam's Remix]
source: "At The Circus" [Crystal Cat 707-08]
FLAC FORMAT

CD 1:
1. intro [00:00:28]
2. Start Me Up [00:04:27]

7. Tumbling Dice [00:05:16]
8. Brown Sugar [00:06:51]
9. Sympathy For The Devil [00:11:37]

With Greg44's admonishment to "remember the small venues," I turn to this well known bootleg from Crystal cat. For years I've heard how perfect this recording is and maybe half-believed it at some point. But I hope your ears find even more clarity on this recording now that it's been remixed.

The remix was accomplished in the following manner:

(1) In Goldwave v5.65, the volume of the Crystal Cat version was matched to -20dB with the "abort procedure if clipping occurs" option checked.

(2) iZotope Ozone 5 Advanced was used to add:

A. Mid/Side EQ scheme used to add richness and depth
B. Tube stauration was applied over 4 bands using "oversampling" option, with the emphasis between 1.28kHz-4.91kHz
C. Aggressive multi-band dynamics were applied over 4 bands, using an envelope detection method.
D. Multi-band Stereo Imaging was applied most notably to focus the low end (narrowing it by 27%), then expanding slightly upward over 3 other bands.
E. A post-processing EQ was applied to add digital warmth and clarify bandwidths typically associated with vocals.
F. The Loudness Maximizer was aggressively applied, using transient recovery (turned halfway up) and inter-sample detection to avoid clipping.

I hope you all enjoy this remix. I'm going to crank it at work tomorrow!!! :-)

Hi Joe,
He... he... it was not "admonishment" but VERY, very kind request and
I'm glad that finally you took it into consideration though this
particular case will not cause my heart beating since I have Cirkus
(as well as Hampton) on very good soundboard records of an unindicated production. So... I'm waiting for more :-)

I would be VERY happy to hear your Garden State remastered from vinyl,
it has really great potentials as you've probably already heard.
So in this case I'm also waiting.

Best,
Greg

Brown-redish cover with graphic picture (basicly the same as used

apart from faces. To me perfect.

The following show was just added to the index:

1998.03.30 River Plate Stadium, Buenos Aires, Argentina [DSP Remix Ver.2]
source: "Bridges To Argentina" [DR-25766-1-2]

A quick explanation --

I noticed my original DSP mix of this show was posted at a certain Stones blog. It got me think taht some of the earlier mixes I did are not very good. As I've gotten a better feel for and acquired newer tools for remixing, I've sort of raised the standard of what I consider acceptable and ready to be shared. Most earlier mixes like my original "Bridges To Argentina DSP Mix" don't meet this new standard and so I'm left with a choice: (1) Pull the original mix or (2) do a new mix and post it. I'm going to try to opt for #2 as much as possible. When I post new mixes of previous projects I'll put "ver. 2" or "2012" in the title.

CD 1
01 Intro
02 Satisfaction
03 Let’s Spend The Night Together
04 Flip The Switch
05 Gimmie Shelter
06 Anybody Seen My Baby
07 19th Nervous Breakdown
08 Saint Of Me
09 Out Of Control
10 She’s A rainbow
11 Miss You
12 Band Introduction
13 You Don’t Have To Mean It

CD 2
01 I Wanna Hold You
02 Stage Walk Intro
03 Little Queenie
04 I Just Want To Make Love To You
05 Like A Rolling Stone
06 Sympathy For The Devil
07 Tumbling Dice
08 Honky Tonk Women
09 Start Me Up
10 Jumping Jack Flash
11 You Can’t Always Get What You Want
12 Brown Sugar

Remixed with Goldwave 5.65 + iZotope Ozone 5 Advanced + iZotope Alloy

Volume was matched in Goldwave
An initial mix was rendered with Ozone 5 Advanced, moving the recording from the source's mono-sbd to stereo
A final mix was done in Alloy, adding light compression and a tri-band leveler to balance the mix

NOTE: THE FOLLOWING TRACKS SOUND LIKE THEY ARE FROM AN UNMIXED MONITOR SBD, THEY WERE THAT WAY ON THE SOURCE. THERE'S MORE ECHO AND A RAW, LESS BALANCED SOUND:

SHE'S A RAINBOW
LIKE A ROLLING STONE
HONKY TONK WOMEN
BROWN SUGAR

A reference file from the source is included for you to compare. The most obvious difference is this mix is in stereo, as opposed to the mono source, so the instruments are separated from each other making the sound more alive.

Enjoy!

Joe (LaughingSam),

could you please listen to allegedly released by Stones
"The Brussels Affair'73" which you can get here:
[avaxhome.ws]
To me it sounds deeper and more stereophonic than Sister Morrphine "Timeless Europe" or "Europe'73" issued by Royal Sound Records.
However, to me it needs more punch since it's a little muffled and the voice
is rather in the back. So maybe after YOUR remaster it could really be called
the "FINAL REMASTER" :-)

Best,
Greg

Just curious....didn't you even notice that the official Brussels release features a different show than what the bootlegs does ? Only 3 songs are the same. Comments like this makes me wonder how many people that actually has listened to the official release (or the bootlegs)....or if they just download things to "have them"

That's a good point. Not everyone distinguishes between shows of the same date. I read the track by track analysis here rollingstones.net but I knew right away I wasn't going to remix an official release.

But really....!
If you actually LISTENED to it, then you know straight away that this is a very very different thing
I understand that some people are not "buying" the official release, if they think "it's the same as the bootlegs" (allthough it isn't)

But I find it impossible to believe that somebody could actually listen to the official release without hearing that it's a totally different show. In other words, people who make that mistake, has NOT listened to the damn thing (or the bootleg)....or they are deaf.

I think a lot of people only care about "crossing things of their list" when it comes to collecting, that they don't even listen to what they are downloading. So everybody....Buy the official Brussels Affair !

Thanks Gregg, I needed that. I know I'm fighting a lost case. People love to "have things". It's harder to actually "listen".....as it takes both time, and personal enjoyment.

Well, technically a person must "possess" something before they actually "listen" to it, or much less "enjoy" it, but I see your point.

Why don't we restrict our comments here to the thread's purpose -- the music posted here (i.e., Brussels isn't here) -- and start a new thread to criticize fairweather collectors.

Ok. My mistake.
But still in hands of Joe official release would surely sound
much better. To me. But it's my taste. And I'd love to hear it.
Besides... I'm not collecting things. Whatever it is when sounds
trashy then I'm delating it. "Collectors" never do it.
Besides... is it really neccessary to make "a matter of honour"
out of these or those recordings? Funny. To me.
But thanks for remarks.
