You know LaughingSam that you're undisputable MASTER for me
and I love RS very much but... they are not the whole world to me.
There are other things more important which are equally time consuming
as downloading, listing, comparing etc.
Nevertheless I would love to spend time for your remaster of official
Brussels. You would do it more "punching". I'm sure and you also know it!
Anyway, let's stop this exchange of kicks and showing off peacock's tails.
Is anybody writing PhD thesis on this, or what? :-)

Heard, understood, acknowledged. I wasn't directing it at you. Just making light of the passionate exchange yesterday. I personally don't give a sh#% what people do with the recordings they download.

I can do the Brussels thing you keep mentioning, but I can't share it on here. I bought the release and assume that you did the same. If you have an email or somewhere we can correspond and have bought the release yourself, then I'll get you a reworked copy of it.

Hi Joe, I'd like a copy of Brussels if you are going to remaster it? I bought it and would love to hear what you can do with it thumbs up

Many thanks Joe,many thanks...
I'm sure that you're more satisfied with your remaster not
because it's yours but because an official is wanting.
To my ears or taste, of course.
I didn't try your Circus out of the same reason as Hampton.
From the beginning I tried to discourage you from it -
I have both on CDs which I like. Sorry, folks, it was very
selfish on my part which only could be explained by desire
to direct Master's hand to the more neglected materials.
So far Brussels is unobtainable here, I'm drooling over
it's artwork the most :-) so let's wait.

Joe,
maybe in spare time (he... he... he...) you could have a look at Let It Rock,
DAC-012 (now with dead links on their list), Hamburg 1970?
Very nice playing, set of songs but mono, messy, poorly separated recording.
But good concert. Do you think that it's "touchable/remasterable"?
If so, pleas add it to your long, long waiting list.
Greg

It's working fine now (I'm getting 3MB/sec dl spd). It was probably temporarily unavailable because I reuploaded it this afternoon. For whatever reason, Megaupload doesn't always make the files available immediately. I find there's a 1-2hr lag time. They're still the most reliable and fastest service I've used.

If you can post a lossless version of CD1 1976-06-07 Paris show I asked for that would awesome.

The following show was added to the index on page 1 of this thread:

1999.01.25 Oakland Arena [DSP Remix]
source: VGP-215 "Moonlight Mile"

We already have the terrific Matrix version of this show thanks to Falo. This mix lacks the high-end clarity of that mix, but has some other stuff to offer...

Mixed with iZotope Ozone 5 advanced, iZotope Alloy & Goldwave 5.65.

The stereo image was spread with 4-bands, using width and depth to separate the tones and a tube circuit harmonic exciter was added to thicken the sound. Multi-band dynamics were then used to shape the mix. A post-processing EQ was used at the end of the chain and A final adjustment was made with Alloy's tri-band leveler to try (with marginal success) to add some punch.

The most noticeable difference between this and the VGP source is the displacement of tones. It's not a "true stereo" but each channel sounds distinct and seperated.

A reference track from the source is included.

enjoy!

You can also download it here --> Part 1 Part 2

Re: POST: LAUGHINGSAM'S MULTI-DSP-MIXES & REMASTERS (1969.11.09 Oakland, 2nd Show (SBD) ['FM Hangout'] [DSP Remaster] + 1999.01.25 Oakland [DSP Mix] added)

The following show has been added to the index on page 1 of this thread:

1969.11.09 Oakland, 2nd Show (SBD) [DSP Remaster]
source: "FM Hangout"

Inc. SBD of 2nd show:

01. Sympathy For The Devil
02. Stray Cat Blues
03. Prodigal Son
04. You Gotta Move
05. Love In Vain
06. Live With Me
07. Gimme Shelter
08. Little Queenie
09. Satisfaction

Remix Notes:

I stumbled into this remix. All I wanted was to remix "Live With Me" and when that turned out ok, I decided to use the settings to do the whole show.

The source was muddy with bass dominating the sound. I used iZotope Alloy to tame the bass and provide very light comprssion 9/100%.

The de-mudded waves were run through iZotope Ozone 5 Advanced, using the full suite of modules to brighten the sound, spread the channels (source was a fake-stereo with a simple delay, I added multi-band dynamics), also added reverb with a plate modeled on the EMT 140 to thicken the dry mix (the source was VERY dry), harmonic excitation with an oversampling triode circuit was used to fatten the middle and a post-processing EQ that varied depending on the track to get the tracks to sound the same/work out some obvious problems.

I'm including a reference file from the source to compare what we started with to what we ended up with:

LWM (FM Hangout Source)
LWM (DSP Remaster)

The remix isn't perfect, but it's clearer and possesses more depth than the source.

You can also download the whole Remix here --> Gigasize

enjoy!

I'm going to wait and see if it's down for good or not. It would be a big pain in the ass to upload everything elsewhere just to have Mega go back online. I don't know the specifics of what the operators/owners of that site did to warrant the shutdown, but the government shutting down a website that houses uncopyrighted/legitimate/legal information is an obvious 1st amendment violation not to mention a violation of the thousands of legally-binding agreements that everyone who uses the site lawfully (like us) possesses. I don't think the shutdown's going to survive the court system.

I'll put Oak 69 up on Gigasize, but the others are down for now.

It's not part of the source recording. That's there because I forgot to check the "delay compensation" function in Ozone. It's caused by Ozone falling out of synch with the host app and creates an artifact, usually loud feedback or a hollow ringing for only the first 1/2 sec of the 1st track you are mastering. Luckily I wasn't mixing multiple tracks at once, or it would've f*#%d everything up :-)

I was recently compiling an outtakes collection for myself and I noticed that the previous version of "Hang Fire (take 1)" on the "Essential Rarities" collection I posted last year could benefit from a redo.

For those of you who wish to update your original download (if you deemed it worthy of keeping that is smiling smiley you can snag the new mix here:

Gigasize

It's less saturated and has more of a thick fuzzy sound.
