I have always loved this track. Great build up to the end with Taylor soloing. I really like Goats Head Soup. First chance I got to see 'em was in 1975 so I missed this gem a coupla years back (despite lining up for Cardiff Castle tickets. The gig that wasn't to be).

There are 2 live versions (1973) on youtube. Bad sound quality, Taylor on lead. Keith is not audible, but it doesn't spoil the fun.

It was only played twice live at all, at Vienna and at Mannheim, and then th song was dropped. I wonder if the Stones still have soundboard tapes of these shows. I also like the song very much, and although GHS is pretty uneven I'm glad they did not try to repeat Exile. IMHO, 100 years ago is one of the Highlights on GHS.

Holy crap this is good. The song goes from genre experience in the studio(great though) to a real living possible classic. Incredible. What a band they were back then. Exciting as hell.

85% Mick
10% Keith
5% Mick T

Lots of scratching by Keith and Mick T...nits are a nuisance.

The band I first fell in love with! Look at Keith, Mick, and Brian go! hot smiley It's worth the teeth-aching embarrassment of watching the girls freaking out to get to that part. Thanks for posting!

Had seen this video before but hadn't noticed that Brian plays not one but two harps here.

Love this clip. I remember Mike Douglas Show. He had a LOT of great rock acts on his show; Yeah it's kind of geeky with the excited fans but it's sweet in a way too. It's probably pretty rare them doing absolutely live performances, just the five of them, on American TV; maybe that Dean Martin Show appearance was live as well?

I've seen the clip so many times over the years but never tire of it. When they finally get past the small talk and leap into the number it's just so confident and intentional and beautiful. Later years when they'd open with this one I thought it was fantastic as well. Hard to be beat classic Stones live and raw in '64. The hand percussion is fabulous. Cuts right through...Keith playing lead and all the other guitar parts as necessary; just so ON it...Brian's playing here is so beautiful, soaring, but also adds that driving train rhythm; man it's all here and it's all so good.

Preview from Eagle Rock? (Although it's a bit blurry). The set reminds me of Hampton '81.

I hate to be the doomsayer here, but, "Nahhhh". It's cool in its own way, but having a sing along and basic jamming on cellos doesn't cut it. It's just some cats showing they can riff on a Stones song. Dig this version. The Stones should do it this way in their shows, IMHO. So should the celloists. I'd love to hear them jammim' on them cellos.
