Cotton Bowl 31 October (in the rain) and 1 November, 1981.

My favourite tour. Hampton is a definately a career highlight. But yes the first couple of shows - - especially before Ernie Watts joined them - were very sloppy indeed.

They should have kept Tops in the set list (they dropped it after a week or two). Ernie should have played Mick Ts guitar parts. Could have been a killer version.

The dreaded cherry picker became a major sticking point in the then-deteriorating relationship between Mick and Keith. Keith, of course, hated it.

Actually, they only played Tops one time - that very first Philly show. Yeah - it could have evolved into something great!

Not true. TOPS was in the show for at least the first couple of weeks of the tour. I know it was performed in Boulder 1981

I stand corrected my friend.

I was at the September 26th show.

The sound was so bad!

What a disappointment!

Guess it depends where you are. From where I stood, the sound was great. It reminded me of the way the guitars sound on the Macambo side of Love You Live.

Not sure who is the most "crazy" drummer, Zoltan Chaney or this one:

Okay, this one is a just little bit naughty but nobody's arm was twisted to make it. It's great fun and somewhat stimulating. Just enjoy and let the PC Blue Meanies disappear!

hi,

never saw this, came up today (may 17th 2016) ...

Clip way too short, sorry...

Thanks; I can appreciate the accuracy of this clip. Sacrificing the flow of the song and keeping the real audio/video sync alive.
The dark mysterious 70 tour.

Thomas, thank you for posting a link to my production smiling smiley
There is a thread i made about this film recently - [www.iorr.org]

While the whole Essen film lasts about 10 minutes, "Dead Flowers" seems to be the longest song there.
"Sympathy for the devil" from this film is also about 1.5 minutes, but only the ending solos of the song are captured. Other songs are even shorter.

By the way, Mick does a short ad-lib to "Satisfaction" singing "I can't get no" before "Dead Flowers" and this bit was captured on camera smiling smiley

Yeah, it's easily one of my favourite versions of Brown Sugar. The same audio can be heard in better quality here:

Good luck with that - looking at Keith's fingers at the beginning, I highly doubt that they are actually playing BS on the video.

I have started syncing this film. The highlight (almost complete "Roll Over Beethoven") is done. You can find a link in the thread i made about these silent 1970 tour films.

The film is from third show (September 24), btw.
