Had a brief chat with Bill Wyman on Tuesday evening.

What did you briefly chat about? (were you beachcombing)?

Ha ha! We, along with a couple of hundred other people, had just seen a screening of Ladies & Gentlemen. At the party afterwards, I went over to speak to Bill to find out what he thought of the film. He said he had forgotten how short the shows were back then and the fact that there was no encore in those days. He also said he felt the sound was muddy in places, to which I said I thought it was surprisingly good and great to experience in a cinema. He did then go on to say "at least you could hear the bass"! Classic stuff.

Sting (was an arsehole)

People, people - please try to elaborate a bit (if u can do so without being sued)! It's mean of you to just drop a tempting morsel then leave.

ROPENI, you met the legend Jim Morrison?! Do share, please.

And we're still waiting to hear about the obnoxious phone call from L'Wren...

I've met a bunch of musicians, most of whom have been very cool.

Keith
Ronnie
Ian McLagan
Bobby Keyes
Dylan
Black Francis
Mike, Davy, & Peter of the Monkees
Thom Yorke
all four of R.E.M.
Liam Gallagher
all four of Cheap Trick
Damon & Graham from Blur
Gaz Coombes (Supergrass)
David Lowery & Johnny Hickman (Camper/Cracker)
Johnny Echols (Love)
Jarvis Cocker
the Descendents
Joey Ramone
Little Steven
Bo Diddley
Steve Cropper
Glenn Danzig & Jerry Only
Glen Matlock
Jerry Garcia
Green Day

Keith, Pete Buck, Black Francis, Liam Gallagher & Johnny Hickman were the coolest; Stipe was an outright dick with serious body odor.

The only two I ever conversed much with:

- Alex Chilton, in a small club in Pittsburgh after one of his gigs, around 1990. He and his band members were loading his equipment, and I offered to give them a hand. They all hung around for about half an hour afterwards, and I talked at the bar with Alex. We talked about some bands, what he was doing careerwise etc. etc. Terrific guy, real relaxed and mellow.

- Pat Fish (aka "The Jazz Butcher" ) Talked to him after a show at a weird warehouse place in Pittsburgh on my birthday in 1991. You had to bring your own alcohol, and Pat was all to pleased to rap with me and a couple of friends till our beer ran out. Cool guy. I wondered what happened to old "Butch" and found his website:

Guess he's still gigging around. I still break into a chorus of "Bicycle Kid" now and again! Classic.

Little Steven (I interviewed him for the magazine I was writing for at the time). Very cool guy.

Bernard Fowler. Met him at a party the day before the Stones played in Bergen in 2006. We shared a cigarette and had a long chat. He was a very, very nice guy.
