"Oh! The good old hockey game,
Is the best game you can name;
And the best game you can name,
Is the good old Hockey game! ... " :-)

We have a pretty good league (DEL) here in Germany as well
Düsseldorf, Cologne, Mannheim, Berlin, to name just a few good teams ...

I do actually have a Norwegian Gold Medal in Ice Hockey!
Not as a player but as team manager.
They were the best players in years and went to
many other teams in Norway and made plenty of medals.

Our Team Frisk Asker Tigers are among top 4 usually.
The main enemies are VIF and SIL.
One from Oslo - guys living in containers.
The other farmers who drive to games in tractors.
Don't like them. Our team was number one in our
series up to last week. And we have the youngest
team in the series probably, still some of the
best "home grown" players. This season will be
great I think. We have a very good team.
Our budget is 30% of VIF so we are 3x better!

When I am on tour I do always follow NHL.
Have seen games in NYC/Garden, Boston, Anaheim,
San Jose, Montreal, Toronto and other places.

Ice Hockey is great, and for this season I think
I will follow every game until the Stones
are back on the road late Jan early Feb some time.

Cool, Björnulf! Respect!!

My dad's Chairman of Timrå ice hockey club;
and I'm fairly closely related to Foppa Forsberg.

But my ice hockey is the good ol'-fashioned one with Honken, Strimma,
Stisse, Uffe Sterner & the Salming bros etc.
Still like goin' watchin' Timrå beatin' up Modo thou.

Topi at the board is a great ice hockey keeper.

I was a board member and managing the entire Frisk Asker junior dept for around 10 years from around 1983 to 1993. I was basically living 24/7 in our ice hall and all other ice rinks in Norway those 10 years. The sports absorbed me 100% and it was a great time, even if it took all my energy. The main reason why I could not work that hard with IORR late 80's. Also I have three kids that played our teams from pewees up to senior status. Ice Hockey is great indeed, also great if your kids play it. I am not sure if Hockey or Stones came first, but the rink was build around the same time, so they both share my passion and many great memories.

For those of you who know Montreal I live on Nun's Island-two doors down from Saku. I see him and his wife all the time during the season. Also during the Montreal Grand Prix he usually throws a big party and invites the Finnish team ( I think as I am not a big F-1 fan)

Going to the Atlanta Thrashers opening night game tonight against the Washington Caps. Really looking forward to the season....maybe we'll actually WIN a playoff game this time around!

Our now defunct minor league team, the Atlanta Knights, really got me into hockey in the early 90s. Almost always had some kind of "two for one" coupon deal, so it was cheap entertainment.

Just to be able to skate (all the moves, skating backwards, etc.) is amazing to me, but when you add in all the puck handling, shooting prowess, defense.....PLUS the fact that guys about 6 foot 4, 240 pounds are trying to knock you down the whole time you're trying to DO all that stuff.......really an amazing game.

I think each of the Stones need to have their own team to compete against each other.

First game: Charlie's Be Boppers vs. Woody's Wonders

BV, can we meet halfway... lol...?
At least we have a stadium next door where they had a few great bands (hmm, Stones a few times).
And Norways best player ever (made it in Sweden, failed in NHL)...

TE
Oslo
(OK, someone have the permission to close this thread that went from OT to OTT)

If anyone wants to see a great athelete perform. Watch Joe Thornton play on the San Jose Sharks. The kind of guy who makes everybody else around him better.

A friend of mine works for the Canucks so I got to go and watch the training camp a couple of weeks ago. There was a VIP area set up and some hard core fans were in there. Overhearing them talk reminded me of what we sound like around the Stones (or on IORR). They were debating about whether the players would be signing after the practice, whether they would be coming up to the VIP area to watch the second pratice, where their wives were sitting, etc. I came home and told my wife that she should have heard these people.... Probably what the staff of the Four Seasons usually say after the Stones check out and us fans head home!

Vancouver is great both for hockey and the Stones. One big difference between hockey and rock is the players retire around age 35, while rock musicians never retire really.

Reading my response from last October and I must have been psychic! Rocky Wirtz really moved the Blackhawks into the 21st Century. Home games now being televised, bringing back Hull, Mikita and Esposito for PR and Kane and Toews played awesome this year, with Kane being the front runner for the Calder trophy as Rookie of the year. With a couple key free agent signings, the Hawks should be in the playoffs this year, having missed it by 3 points this year.
As far as the playoffs go, I think we might see a Sharks/Canadiens final and I'll predict Joe Thornton will be MVP. Don't count out Colorado in the West since Forsberg is playing very well and the Rangers might be the dark horse in the East. CBC and TSN are both showing 2 games each tonight in Canada.

Linköping's going for gold in Swedish Play Off.
Linköping - HV71 2-0 in best of seven finalgames.

My local team in Norway is Frisk Asker and Asker is the place I live. Our team was the youngest average age 21 and budget 1/3 of the big acts, but we beat everyone and won the series, see table below. Also, we had four of our players on the first four positions of the scoring/points table. We made it to the finals, lost 3 of these on sudden death and won one of them 7-1 which was a true victory in itself. Needless to say, a great success and great to follow my team in a season when there were no Stones shows.

I will be in North America west coast early May, and if there are some great games there then I would for sure like to see the Sharks or any other play-off games. PS. Our best player this seson went to MODO for the next season, but we have plenty more young players coming up...

Further to my response on April 10, both the Canadiens and Sharks are now involved in game 7 in their respective series. Canadiens blew a 3 games to 1 lead over Boston and Sharks failed to win game 6.
Colorado won their opening series over Minnesota, with Peter Forsberg looking like the Forsberg of old. Rangers also won their opening round, with a bit of an upset win over New Jersey.

The Sharks are giving me gray hair (even more). Brutal efffort last night. They haven't played well all series. The Canadians can't stand prosperity either. Blowing a 3-1 series lead and costing me a few pennies the other night.Game 7 on now. 0-0 last I checked. Go Habs....consdidering the Celtics are probably going to win the NBA Finals,I'm going against Boston this time.

Screw Boston - go Habs. Montreal is up 2-0, middle of 2nd period.

I hate Philly. They are up 2-1 right now, 2nd period.

San Jose isn't gonna do it. It'll be Detroit and Pittsburgh for the Cup.

Caps up 4-2 and Montreal up 3-0 both in 3rd almost over!

Nice one for Montreal, but not for the Finnish national team that is going to survive without Saku Koivu in the following World Championship games in Canada. But luckily we have in our team already younger Koivu, Olli Jokinen and hopefully 'forever young' Teemu Selänne.

I'm very much into Eishockey (Hockey) too!
Go to the games nearly every week.

Normally of course I'm going for the German league first.
But at the moment I'm hopin for San Jose. One of their defenders (Chr. Ehrhoff)is from my hometown and I know him quite good.

Well I live not far from San Jose CousinC. I am already on pins & needles with game 7 just minutes away. I hope Ehrhoff knocks home one of his big slapshots.GO SHARKSdrinking smiley
