I went to a Stanley Cup finals game a few years back. It was the first game of Philadelphia's 4-game loss to Detroit in 1997. I think I knew during the first period that the Flyers would lose the game and the series....

Detroit's precise passing & skating reminded me of the Montreal Canadiens that I remembered from when I was little.

BEANTOWN BITE:

One lesson from San Jose-Boston tilt: B's still have much to learn

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

Bragging rights don't get you Stanley Cup rings, which the San Jose Sharks have found out all too painfully well the past few seasons, but Tuesday night's 5-2 victory over the Boston Bruins left us with some telling tidbits..

Where is The sicilian(small s) to give my Sharkies their due props. I'm Waitinggrinning smiley

Pretty fast posting their TS.My boys are leaking a little oil and making a habit of losing these heartbreakers. But what a hell of a game. I can't get too upset. In all seriousness, after the terrible tragedy from the night before. The good people of Buffalo could certainly use a pick me up.Congrats to the Sabres and best wishes and thoughts and prayers to those who lost loved ones in the plane crash.

All kidding aside, it was a very entertaining game. Blowing 3 goal leads was embarassing but Craig Rivet helped to get redemption in the end.

Many Sabres players and their coach live in Clarence in the vicinity of the crash. Coach Lindy Ruff said he could hear the fire engines converging on the scene. I wish the game would have been played in better circumstances but it was an uplifting moment for a stunned and numb city at the moment.

Thanks for the kind words and wishes, and of course the best to you and your family.

My relative Peter "Foppa" Forsberg (could be called "Colorado-Forsberg" as well) on the ice again last Thursday and soon again. But sorry for him I aint a Modo-fan;
I say: Go Timrå Go! Timrå Red Eagles will wipe da floor with all da others.

San Jose, yeah, they're doing great out in the weak Pacific division. Then again, there is only one other team with 80+ points in the West.

Buffalo's in 6th place. They're hanging in there. They even beat the Sharks. I would love it if Philly didn't get in.

Loved it when the Sabres took down Forsberg and the Flyers a few years ago. I think foot injuries took its toll on him.

Yeah, the foot has kept him off the ice for so long now.
Still, his magnific precense (no irony; its ice hockey history!)
doesnt save his team..

In that MODO game where Foppa returned and made a goal this week our very own Mats Zuccarello Aasen made 3 points I think. My own team have to live without Norway's best hockey player Mats this season, but still we managed to beat our "enemy" VIF recently. I just got a great picture from our team this week. The puck is in the net. Our team is Frisk Asker Red & Green. The Oslo team VIF has got the goalie in white, and we beat them of course. Great picture, especially because my company logo is behind the goal - that's why they sent me the picture...
