OT:Hockey Anyone?

First of all,the GSR.(gratuitous stones reference). The NHL opened play in London last weekend with 2 games between Anaheim and Los Angelos at the o2 arena. Sight of the last live Stones shows. Did anybody go? I heard it was soldout. The rest of the league kicks off tonight. Any other hockey fans on here? Sports junkie that I am. I really love hockey. That hotbed of hockey,Anaheim won the cup last year. This year it's coming north. To San Jose. GO SHARKS

We used to have a minor league team here in New Orleans. Not a great fan, but had a lot of fun at the couple of games I went to.

We lost hockey here when that NBA team moved to town. sad smiley

I'd like to argue with you and say the Sabres are going to win it.....but not after losing our 2 best players to free agency.

: (

Plus, the West has become the far stronger conference.

I forgot to once again thank the Boston Bruins for making one of the worst trades in sports history and sending Joe Thornton to the Sharks for.........well,nobody. Joe Thornton is simply one of the most amazing athelites)sp) in sports. Simply a joy to watch play. The only thing I don't like about the Sharks is that they changed their logo this year.(meet the new shark. Same as the old shark). Because 4 Sharks Jersey's aren't enough. Now I have to go get another one.

Now you're talking my language.

From Montreal its no surprise.

I have season tickets for the Habs and also get out to games in Ottawa, Boston, Denver, etc.

If there are any hardcore NHL fans on this board, come up to Montreal and I will take you out to a game.

It might be Rough Justice as the Bruins did awfully well when the Canucks traded Cam Neely to Boston.

Yes, it's coming north, from Anaheim to Los Angeles (in my dreams)!

Hey we (Buffalo) stole Harry Neale from the Leafs for our color analyst replacing the great Jim Lorenz. (Neale is a resident of the Buffalo area)

And added a new HD jumbotron with 4 massive screens to the arena.

On a sad note we deleted Chris Drury and Danny Briere.

Now lets see if that can translate into victories for the Sabres.

I live near Vancouver, so like all of Canada, everyone is hyped for opening night. To tell you how much hockey is loved here, when the Canucks introduced their new uniforms, they drew almost 9000 to GM Place for it and probably could have drawn more but the management only had the lower bowl opened!
To JJFlash and JJFrash, perhaps Bill Wirtz's sons will run the team differently now that he just passed away. I think it's unanimous that he was the worst owner in North American professional sports. No home games televised!?! What the hell is up with that! Being a die hard Hawks fan since the 70's era of Hull, Mikita and Esposito, I've always wanted to go to Chicago to see a Hawks game. I really wanted to see a game in Chicago Stadium. Hawks have an awesome young team which will be playoff contenders in a few years as Toews, Kane, Seabrook, etc. mature.

Nice two goals by the capitan, 'our' Saku, last night. He has been always my fav. player, not least due to fact that he is a foster by 'my' team TPS here in Finland, and I still remember how how he dominated the Finnish league from 1993 to 95 and led TPS to Finnish league champion and Finland to World Champion in 1995. Great memories.

I'm from Calgary and we came close in 2004 when we lost in the Stanley Cup finals. New tough coach this year and hope reigns supreme once again ... first game tonight at home to the Flyers. Everyone is pretty hyped and it's a sold out arena.

DGA, I'm sure you'll agree that the Nux and Flames are in a very competitive division with Colorado much improved and who knows maybe the Oilers will even show something.

LOL - hockey in New Orleans? There's plenty of water, but does it get cold enough to freeze it?

Yeah, no kidding! Our jack-ass mayor, who once referred to Ground Zero as a "hole in the ground" was a part owner in the franchise.
I'm kind of glad he doesn't have that business working for him anymore.

I usually only follow Hockey around playoff time. I root for the Devils since they are my local team but my real passion for hockey was when the Islanders had that great team in the eightees. Bossy, Gilles, Smith etc.. Ah what a team.

Well I'm pleasantly surprised to find some hockey fans on here. I was afraid this thread might sink faster than the Titanic........But San Jose is kind of a sleeper pick for the Cup this year and since every other bay area sports team around here sucks. It's easy to jump on the Sharks bandwagon. But I really am a big Sharks fan. Now if they can just get past the second round of the playoffs.

Got a strong feeling BV is a bit more interested than the average human.
Never asked him, but he lives in a town with a half decent team here (there, in Thailand at the moment) in Norway.
(Sorry BV, nothing beats that team closes to where the Stones played in Oslo).
Even think BV went to a few matches in Boston.
