Oh yes. But you know - they need something to sing along too, bla bla.
I'm happy for Helsinki though, they got a nice gig smiling smiley
Curious about the reports, hope Keith was ok!

Lorenz,

Keith was NOT OK. He was wasted. He actually fell on his butt a couple of times, during She´s So Cold and during Honky Tonk Women on the way back from the B-stage. During the trip back and the moment before he fell the 2nd time, Mick actually had to keep Keith from falling off the B-stage!

HOWEVER. Keith´s playing _was_ OK. The times he did play, that is. He was spot on during the first four songs and on LIS, CYHMK and the beginning of TD. He sang his own set well (maybe with the help of the teleprompter). The B-stage trip was subpar. Solos on IORR and HTW were mediocre at best, and on Satisfaction he skipped playing for a while during the last part. You could actually hear Chuck´s keyboards playing the Satisfaction riff.

During Sympathy Keith hardly played. He went on a walk/runabout on the left wing, at first it seemed that Ronnie went behind to babysit him. Ronnie dropped this idea quite quickly and there Keith was, stumbling about, mostly just posing waving, hitting a few notes here and there.

Keith was good again on PIB, JJF and BS. He actually managed to nail the intro!

Folks, this all is coming from a Keith fan - a fan who was there and saw it all with his own eyes.

Had to get this off my chest. I mean, if it gets to the point where Darryl and the roadies have to keep him standing up on his feet when changing guitars, you can´t be 100 % satisfied.

But OTHER than Keith´s drunkenness to the point where he had trouble staying on his feet, it was a good gig. The setlist was great. CYHMK!!! The weather was much better than what was feared at first.

It was good meeting Wesley and Mrs. Wesley before and after the show! Wesley just _loved_ to hear CYHMK. Me too! They hadn´t played it since Rome.

I will post a more thorough review when I have slept on it. These were just my initial impressions.

BTW I don´t know/remember that Keith would ever have fallen twice during the same show. Correct me if I´m wrong.

Thanks for the first review, Topi!
Probably will not earn me many friends - but the way you observed Keith is the way he is today on stage - drunk or not. Falling 2 times is a new record I think, curious to hear more reports. Perhaps Finish vodka was too strong even for him winking smiley ?

even if he felt down on his butt, why the first thing people assume is that he was drunk? I wasn't at the show, but I don't think you saw him drinking backstage, didn't you?

You are right, it's much more likely that he was just a bit tired winking smiley

a) again - I wasn't at the show, so what can I know...but from the shows I was at, I noticed people sometimes doesn't understand what's happening on stage. Keith does his traditional "going down on his knees" & other stuff similar to that kind of thing every once in a while...so maybe, that was just it? I know I wasn't at the show so that's just a suggestion

b) I had a blackout some time ago, being Polish, and we Polish can drink a lot of vodka, one may assume I had 2 litres of it before and I almost passed out. What I mean is...shouldn't the first reaction be worrying about the man if we love him and not saying "oh, he's drunk again". Someone said he did his set really well...soo?

It's nothing new that Keith drinks, I think. It's nothing that makes me especially worried, just I think it's not very professional to be so drunk that he falls down several times.

You had 2 liters of vodka? That's insane. I can drink a lot of beer, but I think I'd drop dead after 2 liters of vodka.

Well I've got a couple of Polish vodka that I bought, when I visited your nice country...so I might shoot a couple of drinks now :-)

Great show! My first (and propably last?). I must admid, I am not a huge fan and didn´t knew all the songs that got played, but you could hear that Keith´s playing was dreadful. In Satisfaction I got strange riff´s into my ear like he was playing wrong notes or something.

But Mick was definitely the saviour of the show, socialising with the finnish audience into finnish and warming up the crowd which got better in the end. We finnish people like to sit down and clap, you know=).

I sat in the rear end corner of the stadium but all the people in my seat area laughed and had ball when Mick interacted with the crowd. I think the best part was him saying when introducing Lisa F. to the crowd "Cheap shoes"..or something in finnish.

Ronnie did well in his solos and Poor Charlie was too old to even get up from his chair to take a bow from the audience=).
There was no confetti in Brown sugar (I thought there would be...?) and the fireworks started late, I think.

Paint it black was definitely the highlight of the evening! and Start me up was excellent and fast tempo.

Thank you guys!!! Money well spended.

I was beginning to wonder, when we'd see the first Charlie-bashing. Jeez!

Oh, and now even the Helsinki paper wrote in their review that Satisfaction was a tough one in Helsinki for they boys. So it wasn´t just me hearing...
They never got that tune right, did they?

Hmm.. it looks like it wasn't Keith's best nights. Can't wait to hear the stories from many - mostly Scandinavian - IORRians that were present there (when they get sober and their fingers are not anymore shaking from hangover).

It depends, they can do great versions of it. But in my opinion it doesn't work very well on the b-stage and also, as someone said here earlier, it depends very much on if Keith plays the riff or not winking smiley Btw, hope you also enjoyed the songs you didn't know, those are the best for us hardcore fans!

Well hope the old bugger is sober enough to play on sunday ;-)
I think he at least ought to be almost sober, when we pay these huge prices for the tickets...they just have to deliver...otherwise why bother anymore.

I did enjoy, I knew the names of some songs and sort of pieces from here and there. She so cold was awesome and so was Rough Justice (a new song). It was great that they didn´t have any ballads (Sweet Virginia?), though Angie or Wild horses would have made my evening.

The audince was at some point so silent that Mick asked "Is it time for a ballad or what?"
and we said "noooh!"

I just love his english accent!!! Very energetic show=)

I'd rather a drunk Richards than no Richards as all. In a funny way you COULD argue that the reason we're prepared to pay these monstrous prices lies in his liver!! ;-)

And I saw a totally sullen God Dylan play at Roskilde in 1980's - he was pissed as a fart and could not care less. But - he was still Bob Dylan!! ;-)

I aggree some of way....BUT if he can't deliver because he's too drunk, then he has absolutely no respect for the audience.

Lorenz, I DIDN'T drink 2 litres of it

- maybe my English wasn't at its best so you didn't understand, but I was just paraphrasing the situation with Keith falling down and many assuming he was simply drunk. What I was trying to say is that natural reaction would be worrying about Keith's health itself. If he was do drunk that he was falling down on his bottom, how was he capable to do his set so well?

to comment on the setlist for a change: WOW ! What a bang in Helsinki, truly!

I (basically) don't see such a big problem with his set or the concert overall if he's drunk - it's probably not the first time he has performed drunk, right? I don't know why it should be especially difficult to do his set - after all he doesn't play guitar anymore during his songs and it seems he could still read the teleprompter. I don't want to speculate too much either now, perhaps he wasn't drunk or whatever. I just think it's not something very unlikely to happen.
