Tim Ries was awesome yesterday with Bernard, Michael and finnish jazzplayers! I really enjoyed the gig. This morning the sun is shining and everything looks great for the evening!
EVERYBODY: William K -bar before the concert! Address: Mannerheimintie 72, near stadium.

Yes! I was right in front of the stage. That´s Bernard singing Wild Horses right there - which sounds great as a jazzy version.

After the gig Bernard walked back to the hotel - accompanied by two Finnish(?) women =). He signed for me, I thanked him for the gig and hoped he would have a good one today. Also told him it was good to sing Ruby Tuesday with him (that was the sing-along encore). He signed for a few more fans and then wished us all good night, shook my hand and thanked me for coming to the Project gig.

Was in front of the Stones´hotel when they arrived at around 6 PM. The band was hurried inside by security. No way to get autographs. Mick arrived in a Mercedes, some said he had L´Wren with him but I didnt see her. The minivans blocked any sight of Mick. Charlie was in one minivan, Keith with his wife and daughters in the second - and in the third - no Ronnie, but Michael Cohl!

Most of the backup band - sans Bernard - arrived in a bus. I said hi to Lisa, the horn guys and Darryl.

I later found out that Ronnie had arrived in Helsinki by train from St. Petersburg. Of course, some autograph hunters were in the know on this (they actually learned it from Chuck), went to the railway station, and Ronnie signed! I saw the autograph and a photo of him signing it.

But these autograph collectors were just that, autograph collectors, anything from Shakira to Chris Isaak, Pamela Anderson, Wayne Gretzky...no real Stones fans. They did, however, wisely get into first-name terms with the Stones Head of Security who was at the hotel already on Monday night. The same guy picked up Ronnie from the railway station and made it possible for them to be approached by Ronnie and get an autograph.

Michael Cohl left the hotel quite early for a walk with his wife. Told him "thanks for this, Michael, appreciate it". "Thank you, nice to be back" he answered.

I also saw Darryl leave the hotel all by himself. Didn´t run after him for an autograph though. Kicked myself for it afterwards winking smiley

A couple of more Tim Ries pics coming up later.

See you in William K!

Out to hunt A Biggest Bang now - but one major dept. store had already sold it out...=(

Thanks for the picture BB! And Topi, to whom we didn`t get aqvaitent last night. Me and Gooner talked with Bernard and Tim, nice guys, both really enjoyed the discussion and autograph part.
We met Latvianexile and, of course, couple of Vikings, too. Gooner`s IORR t-shirt worked!

Nice weather, indeed. Time to do some walking, perhaps across certain hotel´s lobby here in Helsinki..

Wesley, I had parked in front of the stage quite early. Maybe that´s why you didn´t see me. =) I was wearing a black suit jacket and a red shirt.

Bernard "ran into me" when walking in front of the stage to reach the actual back stage room. That´s when I first greeted him, and he shook my hand.

Today I´ll be much more casual with the Bergen tee and black jeans, and a blue Shidoobee wristband. You´ll catch me easily in William K, I´m sure.

A couple of more pics from yesterday:

[i12.photobucket.com]

[i12.photobucket.com]

The last one is Bernard signing for that 15-year autograph-collecting vet...who actually had his "henchmen" at the airport, telling when the Stones would leave there and everything...pretty systematic! Charlie had apparently signed at the airport.

Well, I guess a hobby is a hobby, some people collect stamps =) I´m the first to admit *I* was crazy to spend four hours in the rain in front of the hotel yesterday just to see the Stones come in. grinning smiley

Yeah the rain has all gone, the sun is shining and showtime is fast approaching!

I heard in the news that by yesterday 33,000 of the 35,000 tickets had been sold.

I hope we'll see Ronnie playing his Finnish made Versoul guitars on home soil.

have a great show everyone!!

The Stones about to start in two hours in Helsinki, and this thread has fade away from the first page... I'll bring it back.

I won't be present there but I need to say that there are good vibes going on there: given the fact that here in Finland has been more big acts than ever during the summer (the Who, Metallica, The Police, Aerosmith, etc.) and the gig and its promotion was announced quite late, the concert and the band has been surprisingly well hyped here in Finland: the concert is almost sold out (after the trouble four years ago), and the band is very well presented in media, almost like 12 years ago when the band hit the stadium first time for 25 years,,, the tabloids are screaming: THE STONES ARE HERE! 200 hundred fans waiting the band in a rain in front of their hotel... The Stones is a big news!

Is helsinki 2 hours ahead of the UK? If

Googled "worldtime", and yes, they seem to be 2 hours ahead of the UK, and one hour ahead of Sweden. So the Stones should be on any minute now.
