If this all goes as planned( meaning something doesn't happen at Westport Magazine) the interview should take place late Spring. No date set yet. I'm an Advertsing Director with a journalism degree who knows these folks at the magazine and they are all jazzed at this concept of interviewing Patti and Keith; my job is too KEEP them JAZZED so I get my interview! When they found out that I am a HUGE Stones fan , it was a natural stretch to have ME do the interview. I will print this out and use alot of these questions. I won't allow myself to get too excited because I've known things like this to fall apart. I only hope I can be COOL under pressure and just enjoy myself!

Ask him when are they going to open the vaults for all the unreleased material.
Also will there be a new album soon.

OK, this is how you do it so you don't look star struck and keep your cool. Tell Keith you went on a Rolling Stones board to get a perspective from the super hard core RS fans. Then say you have 5 questions ready for him from the board (here's my 5 - you can "mix and match").

#1 Does he, Mick, or the other Stones ever read the fan boards (like IORR) during their down time on their computers? (does Jagger miss MicksBrain?)

#2 The fans REALLY want to know when a lot of older Stones films and video's - like LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, A STONES VIDEOS COLLECTION, and a lot of the live shows from the 70's and 80's - will be coming out on DVD. Why not just hire Wyman or someone to do it right and put them out?

#3 Does he like the hits heavy set lists or would he personally prefer a more adventurous set list?

#4 Would he rather play smaller venues or is he happy with Stadiums?

#5 Who's most responsible for keeping the group together through all the ups and downs for so many years? Him or Mick?

I can answer the last one, Skelter: Both.

Yeah BB, the last one's a bit filler, you're probably right so she should drop that one I think.... I want all the DVD's out, every other band has done it, for better or for worse....A BOX SET of unrealeased, alternative songs would be great, How about that? At least 4 CD's.....Throw in a bonus DVD of all the Videos (especially SAINT OF ME and LOVE IS STRONG) the way Plant did with his NINE LIVES box set......

Some questions to ponder:

What types of books does he read: history, fiction, literature, etc...

How do they aquire their books: bookstores, online purchases, gifts?

What magazines do the subscribe to?

Where would they like to visit or vacation that they have never been?

Favorite tv programs: History channel, ESPN, CNN, Fox, CNBC, MTV, VH1, Food Network, etc...

Hobbies: gardening, history, reading, cooking, wine, antiques etc...

Favorite store for everyday clothing: LLBean, LandsEnd, Target, Kohls, etc...

Favorite snack food: popcorn, cake, cannolis, twinkies, ho hos, candy bars etc...

Favorite web sites?

A guy I used to work with said a friend of his did work in Keith's house and that Keef has an extensive collection of books on Warfare, history, yes, but battles in particular. That's the way I remember it.

So ask Keith about this, which period of history most interests him?

Any commanders he admires?

Strategists? Clausawitz?

He palyed in "New Barbarians." So WW2 might be of particular interest.

Does he know much about local history? Connecticut?

If you need a ride there, call me.

Debra's got plenty of strong views to draw on in an interview situation. :E
but is the assignment to interview Keith about the band/music/tour,
to do a "personality profile" piece or to interview the Richardses about their home and the community?

WITH SSSOUL, thanks for the vote on confidence, glad you know it's ME, DEBRA; I think that because of the questions I'll ask, if given the freedom of choice, my questions will be a mix of both neighborhood/local questions and ALOT Of Stones related questions. Hopefully, the locals who read it are Stones fans and not just socialites. I will be bored quickly asking about what he does in town! He'll be bored too! I'll want to get to the good stuff. I want to hear a new song he's working on, I want to know how's he's really feeling, physically after his accident. I'll let him know the worry he caused us all! I will ask about his favorite memories, on the road, in the recording studio, and some of his worst times as a Stone( was Brian the prick I think he was). That may piss off some fans but I would hope he'd tell the truth on that one, not protect anyone. I would love to hear about Ian Stewart. How much fun was it to work with Johnny Depp on the Pirates movie. I'm sure I won't run out of material! Many of the questions you all offered will be asked! I just hope, as I said, that it doesn't get derailed.

Yes, I know what a "schmeisser" is. I'm a New Yorker who lived for years in Europe, Ireland, and Germany(speak German). I really just like the Stones music, but don't know everything about them, having read only one Stones book.
Forgive me if I've asked the obvious about Keith.

Thats great about getting to do the interview, I live about 5 minutes from where Keith is in Weston. Never spotted him out but he does go to most of the local bars and restaurants when he is home.

Ask him about his extensive library, and which books he is proud of owning and why?
What is he reading now?
Where does he shop for his vintage books?

OR...... maybe he should have the first one printed? BV might overnight a shirt to you for Keef?

I'm cranky today due to illness and the diet/medicine the Docotrs have me on makes you feel worse before you feel better.
Take care, peace.

Can't wait to read the interview.

Babboon Bro, I guess you'd better take your own suggestion, get reading! Yeah, sure, Mick's solo material pissed Keith off but for the rest of the 30+ years when the rest of the band was barely functional, between Keith's SERIOUS herion addiction of the 70's to Charlie's addiction of the 80's to all of the Allen Klein crap and other obstacles concerning touring logistics, Mick was THE MAN, the glue! We had a rather lengthy post going about this a few months ago and it went on and on; it came down to one's interpretation of exactly how serious Mick was about leaving the Stones for a solo career and with none of us BEING THERE, I guess it cannot be known. Look at the band today! If it weren't for Mick taking on ALL of the tour planning, you can bet we'd never see them on the road. What he does, with Charlie's help, would never be done by the others in the band. Woodie is so embroiled in his own addiction problems, I worry how much longer he'll go on. MIck basically plans EVERYTHING; the tour design/name, the merchandise, the itinerary, the actual stage, and all details in between, even hiring crew members! No Mick, no tour.

Do I understand you right... Has Keith and his management and Patti actually agreed to let you have an interview? Or is it something you hope will happen? Just curious... Because in the first post you wrote that you had only 2 weeks to prepare for the interview. And then in another post: The interview will take place some time during the spring.
So: Has Keith given a thumb up to give this interview?

Didnt discuss t h a t chrissake... Hey, I have been researching...
Before AND after my five hours Stones shows on the radio
and around the interview with Bill as well.
Mick didnt contribute much for Stones survival in the 80s, thats for sure.
Why do you want to interview a person you look down upon so much as you do with Keith BTW?

Re: Keith, Patti and Life In Weston, Connecticut
Posted by: Tralala ()
Date: March 19, 2007 14:09

If you're going to take the attitude "Mick does everything and is the only important person in the band" - I doubt the interview will be a huge success. Interviews depend on good chemistry. Believe me, I've doene them for 29 years! And the issues you bring up here, that Mick saved the band, so to speak, well - that's controversial, to put it mildly.
I suppose a lot of fans would agree that if Mick had been a huge success as a solo artist, he would have abandoned the band. But he was a giant failiure - and the solution was to reach out for Keith's hand. His hand was there all the time. Keith kept the band together, Ronnie was the great diplomat - and Mick was sort of the prodigal son. Came back, still loved. And we're all thankfull.
But all this is water under the bridge now. All I care about at the moment? That everyone stays in great health and that I get to see every show on the Euro-tour 2007.

You're right about that one!

Re: Keith, Patti and Life In Weston, Connecticut

Yes, I do have strong views and I don't believe that Mick ever intended to quit the band, not the man from the London School of Economics! He would play both endsfor as long as he could, the Stones and his solo career but as you pointed out, he realized that his real bread and butter was with the Stones. My interpretation cannot be disproved so I stand by it, like a PITBULL! I also point to Mick's solo show at Webster Hall as evidence that he COULD do very well solo, nuf said. ( and hey, commercially, even the Stones aren't as successful of late as I feel they should be! ABB Should have sold alot more copies, IMO). As faras my love for Keith, I'm sort of like Mick. I love the guy, just don't see eye to eye with him all the time so the interview should be great! Perhaps the edginess will add to the chemistry, and I believe there will be a certain chemistry. My mind will be on getting good stuff and keeping Keith HAPPY and in the mood to talk. Now as to whether this could fall apart; I already explained that; yes, it could fall about. Keith has lots of things right now that could derail this, like rehearsals. I shouldn't have said it will take place in 2 weeks...did I say that? I thought I said SPRING! That's what The editors said. It's always a question mark with magazines, lots of things, like one person who doesn't like the idea of an interview with Keith, could stop the whole thing. Is it 100% certain, no.

I just read my initial post, and I DID say I had 2 weeks to prepare; Ive set that as my goal for formulating this in my head, and on paper but I would bet the actual interview won't be that fast.
