Keith, Patti and Life In Weston, Connecticut
Posted by: mickschix ()
Date: March 17, 2007 00:00

I do business with folks in Westport, Connecticut, the town next to where Keith lives and they drive by his house weekly! These people are magazine editors from Westport/Greenwich Magazines so I asked why they've never done an article on Keith and Patti before. They turned it back on me because I am a journalist, asking if I'd do the interview!! I nearly fell off of my chair! I guess I'll have to force myself to conduct this interview; does anyone have any great questions that I should ask them? They want it to be a couple interview. They told me their home is big but not ostentatious, it has a huge gate with visible security guards, not accessible but visible from the road. Patti works out at the local health club but does not chat or mingle with the other members of the club. She has a trainer and a body guard who stay by her side at all times. Send those great questions! I only have 2 weeks to prepare!

what does Keef do in his downtime ?
What TV does he watch ?
How many hours a day does he play his guitar ?
Does he cook ?
Does he follow sport ?
Will he shave off that moustache before the tour ?
How many times a day does someone yell out ' Keith !!!'
Does he know how much he means to us Stones fans ?
and
Will he come back to Australia to play ????

i can't believe patti has a bodyguard at the gym! in NYC, it's uncool to approach celebrities and most celebs don't have bodyguards. i can't imagine many people would actually recognize patti.

My choice as a journalist would be to stick on Keith and his whereabouts in Connecticut. That would be the angle, that would be the editor's choice. Unless he wants to resell it worldwide.

Forget for a time the Stones, Mick, etc. Paint the man in his place. Why is he in Connecticut. Ask him if he feels urban or country.Ask to see his library (think to the "Da Vinci fall"). Ask him to talk about his garden (think to the 1968 gardener, JJF). Ask to see the room, the carpets and the stairs. Ask him about other instrument than the guitars. Ask him what he collects. He is fond of flea markets: ask him about antics. Ask him about chamber orchestra, food, mushroms. Etc. Paint the man out of the rock circus.

How does Patti cope with being the wife of Keith Richards and all that implies? Was Keith involved a lot in the day-to-day upbringing of their daughters when they were young?

And like Deathgod, I'd love to know what Keith does on an average day at home when he's not touring?

Does Keith think diehard fans who follow the band around the world are crazy or does he appreciate why they do it?

Have Patti interview Keith....and Keith interview Patti...with your interjections throughout. And then you can interview both of them together. Do it like a Playboy Magazine interview (Questions & Answers with no edits).

No questions about coconuts.

Have fun. Need a photographer?

IORR............but I like it!

I have a TON I would love to ask Patti!!!

I would first ask Patti about her short acting career that she gave up to be with Keith. What roles was she offered that she turned down. I recently rewatched They All Laughed - the Bogdonovitch movie she was in with Audrey Hepburn & Ben Gazzara. I believe during post-production Dorothy Stratton, who was also in the film, was murdered. She must have something to say about that. Absolutely TERRIBLE movie by the way, just awful. Patti wasn't too bad in it though.

How does she/did she deal with the groupies (Jerry used to sick her heel into the girls feet), Patti probably has some funny stories too.

I would ask her how it felt to become a stepmom to two teenagers at such a young age, and what kind of relationship does/did she have with Angela & Marlon - was it more motherly or more friendly.

I would ask her what her favorite song sung by Mick, and favorite sung by Keith.

What kind of disciplinarian was Keith when the girls were growing up. There's an interview where he talks about his kids smoking pot, I guess I'm wondering if Patti has a problem with Keith being too lenient.

Then I would ask her when the Stones finally stop touring and Keith is around ALL THE TIME, is he going to drive her crazy the way most recently retired husbands do.

I would also be interested in knowing more about her partying lifestyle in the 70's when she was one of the worlds top models. Who did she date, who did she hang out with, how crazy did they get? Does she have a place in the house where she keeps all her old magazine covers.

Ok, not super quality questions - but curious minds want to know!

Why did they settle on Weston?
How important is the local community to them?
IF they could change one thing about each other what could it be?
If they're not at hom where will they most likely be?

Great questions everyone, thanks! I'm not sure Cindy, if Patti would get that personal and really open up in a short period of time, unless I brought 4 bottles of champagne and got them loaded! I think I will bring wine and champagne and Vodka for Keith! REALLY GREAT VODKA!

Ask Patti and Keith if they would each like an IORR t-shirt
sent later, and what size?

(Good for you, my god, mickschix!)

You going to live my dream! Wow! TOO f-ing cool!

I'm really impressed by the suggestions for questions thus far! Yeah, I wonder how Patti gets reaccustomed to the lord and master being back after being gone so long. Often when the hubster goes on business trips, you get really used to doing exactly what you want -- it must be like the old days when the husband retires and starts to drive the wife insane. Hmmm.

Ask to use the restroom and look in their medicine cabinet....JUST KIDDING!!!!!

Keith on fatherhood. Bringing up his children. It must have been quite a different experience bringing up Theo and Alex than being a dad for Marlon and Angela... He was clean. And he's a softie when it comes to children and animals.

And I've heard he gives the boyfriends of Theo and Alex a tough time when they are introduced. If he even suspects the boy's no good - the bastard's in trouble. He's taken the role of Pater Familias.

And he has taken a stand on environmental issues. Mention "global warming" and he'll go on and on. He's got a lot of knowledge on the issue and is responsible for the Stones buying carbon quotas for the tour...

They sometimes go out for dinner in Weston, and they have great contact with the locals. Many of the carpenters are employed remodelling their home...

And: He's an expert on music history. Mention Robert Johnson - and do your research - and you're in for a long night and a late breakfast!
Good luck - you lucky thing.

Great!

Ask him thinks that he is not used to (out of the rock business):

What food does he like, wines (Port Wines...), what he is reading...

Good luck!

Great questions! But don't forget to ask them in the correct order. First: When and where does the European tour start...

without knowing anything else about the assignment than what you've posted, it seems the Joker and OldKR
are probably on a right track: since it's a local-community publication, tie it to the community.
(i'd skip the "Da Vinci fall" and the JJF/garden connection, though - we already know Keith's sound bites on those questions.)
how long is this article supposed to be?

Dear mickschix,

I'm very happy for you (you should go to Church and say thank you Lord)

My 4 questions for Keith is :

- When could we get again his single "Harder they come" ?
- When could we get Stones "Video" on DVD ?
- Have we chances to see again the Winos on tour in Europe ?
- Keith's webside is not so active

For Patti :

- We need a Live cd !

Now for you mickschix :

Could I get your e-mail ?

All the best

Exactly. That's the angle - "former rock 'n' roll wildman settles down in the plush Conn. suburbs". We've all heard his views on music and the Stones a million times, and as interesting as that is I'm not sure there's much fresh material to mine in those areas.

It would be interesting to read about the ideas
about nature and love that keith has.

In which magazine will the interview be published?
