Is being banned a point of pride or a badge of honour?

Apparently so for some folks as I think they like to brag about it.

No, it's what the Japanese yelled in the Second War when they charged American soldiers on the islands in the Pacific. And perhaps was just a group yell they did when getting psyched for battle.

Well, that is also a moment when they used Banzai... In fact it is a much older, ancient expression. Which expresses our hope for the future of the stones:

Wiki on Banzai:

"The phrase "ten thousand years", or "wànsuì", was used to bless the emperors in East Asia in ancient times. The phrase was originated in ancient China, where it was customary to pay respects to the Emperor by repeating the phase for multiple times, like " Wú huáng wànsuì, wànsuì, wànwànsuì" (literally "May my Emperor [live and reign for] ten thousands years, ten thousand years, ten thousand of ten thousands years"). It is usually translated into English as "Long live!" although it has historical connotations that are not present in the English phrase."

We don't shout Banzai now.
However Right-wing extremists or patriots still love to do it.
I know Keith was sometimes wearing headband with "Rising Sun" but does he really go for Banzai or is this some kind of joke?
Just out of curiosity.

>> does he really go for Banzai or is this some kind of joke? <<

i'm sure when Keith has used it it's been as a form of humour,
and i reckon Open-G has the right idea with the "glory or bust" concept of it.
he said it during some of the 88 Winos shows, when he was putting on his headband;
maybe on later tours as well. i don't know if he's used it recently, but people associate it with him:
as Open-G has noted you sometimes see fans holding up signs that say Banzai Keith.
i think there's one visible in somewhere in Four Flicks, no? or some other widely circulating Licks tour DVD.

How's the T-shirt coming along? Do we have a design and shirt colour yet?

Well, I don't know... There has been some devellopment and discussion about shirt colour and letter types, and some adjustments to designs, some new idea's, some doubts on concepts, but I think nobody knows in which direction 'we' have to continue, or where we are now in the process.

I think somebody ought to put their foot down soon. It can be discussed forever and everyone can't be pleased. At least a vote on some designs or something should come on the board. Then we'd have certainty. This shouldn't become a missed opportunity. Put your foot down soon BV.

Agree, but I think in any case that BV has called end of January as the deadline. So we've not got long to wait till we know what he's opted for. Personally, I really like the design of the 4 primary colours on the black background as you can see the IORR T-shirt webpage. Simple, relatively understated, and I'm a sucker for a splash of colour at the best of times. I hope he goes for that.

I am currently looking into the production. No need to send any more comments about designs. Give me a week or so then I will be able to tell how we are doing. Lots of details about design, number of colors, and all of that. The process will partly define the design.

I guess the cost of the production will depend on the number of T-shirts,
so, maybe the people who are interested should sign some kind of list ?
Just a suggestion.

Not necessarily a thread, I mean, people have to sign up to buy the shirt anyway so it should be done before the shirt is produced

That 's common sense. Thus agree a 100 %.

Hey bv, i thought you already decided we were going with schillid's original design. i just saw a post were it's seem's your getting a little flustered. Like some one said in another post we will all get thrugh it and in the long run it will all work out fine and you will be happy. so i hope this will be the shirt because i'm in for at least 2. Like Eric_Snow said we have to start asking who want's a shiet and what size they are. I know you have alot on your plate right now so this might be to early in the game for who want's one let us know. You have my full support.

Love the idea of an official shirt...but please find another image of Keith to use. Why? He looks like Larry fine of the Three Stooges in this picture!!!!! Seriously, check any opening credit of one of their short movies! Keith gets enough razzing for his looks! I love the man, can't we do him more justice?

It will take a couple of weeks to sort out the production details. Right now I am looking into the cost of the T-shirt. Production cost might be anything from 10 to 20 dollars depending on the number of colors being 1, 2 or 10-15. The actual design will be a nice balance of nice to have and must have to preserve the image and to keep the price of the T-shirt on an acceptable level.

No worries about ordering and booking. I will just run a few hundred on typical needed sizes etc. May be I will check briefly on sizes but this is not new really, I know this roughly. It will not be a lot of pre-orders and logistics. It will be one run, and when it is gone it is gone. But there will be enough for everyone initially I think. This will be timed for the IORR 57 magazine as well, going into print in 1-2 weeks time.

Questions I need some feedback on:
May be there should be a 2nd line with smaller print below, indocation the date. It will sort of mess up the main message som may be it will be low key or with some different font. Anyone with ideas? I am looking into what is under the IORR letters, also under "The Rolling Stones fan Club". See design on the IORR T-shirt page: [iorr.org]

Examples:
The Rolling Stones Fan Club
On Tour 2007

Any yes? Any no? Any ideas? Thanks!

I suggest dropping the "On Tour" part of the dating and just simply put 2007.

i would skip "2007" altogether since there's a lot of people on this site who won't make it to europe this summmer...

That's my point. The year would represent the "edition" of the shirt. If BV wants to produce one next year, he could put 2008, and so on.

I don't like the idea of trying to tie it to a tour (especially since there's not even an official announcement of one).

Re: The official IORR T-shirt

There will be one shirt only I think. The one with the large print on the front. If many ask for the small print version then may be I will make it, but as the print seems to be complex, I need one run only. Also, logistics way, I need a maximum of variations. Typically M, L, XL only may be. Don't know if there is something like male and female shirts. I think one typical Fruit Of The Loom design in 3-4 sizes is all we need.

I'm sure the ladies will speak for themselves, but I think a ladies style would be preferred by most of them.

Slightly OT: The original of the "Three Stooges" picture of Keith (before being processed for the T-shirt) is a really cool shot - does anyone know where/when it was taken or who by, or where to find it online?

The Richmond & Twickenham Times used this picture back in May or so, and I have a copy from the paper framed above my desk as I type this. I'd love to know more about it. (Rockman? are you reading this?)

I'm not at all sure you would say that is all we need if you were a woman - they constitute far more than just a small percentage of fans and shouldn't be discriminated against! If you're not going to do women's sizes, then please at least consider the patch idea. I can't speak for others, but I for one will not be buying any typical Fruit of the Loom men's T-shirt.
