An announcement to cancel an announcement feels like a Monty Python sketch.
I literally laughed out loud when I read this! Appreciate your lighter perspective!

According to BV no. They are looking at fall

Here is a thought, is there a Festival in the Fall where they could get a huge payday to make changing the whole tour worthwhile? Is Desert Trip coming back this year? Maybe they were trying to extend the Summer tour through to that but then decided it was too many shows, too long on the road, too costly to hire a crew that long? Perhaps changing a 14 show tour from Summer to the Fall makes sense if they are trying to accommodate a big Festival payday?

What worried me was the change of wordage from "working on rescheduling" to "there might be a rescheduling".

Maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

Anyway, here's hoping they are able to reschedule for the fall. Seems like everyone and their dog is touring this year.

Maybe they need time to find replacement like with Steve when Charlie wasn't well.
The show must go on.

Desert Trip is not happening, at least not with Bruce Springsteen. Which means probably not happening.

From Interview with Karl Denson, San Diego Union Tribune:
Feb. 15, 2023 3:37 PM PT

Denson is not at liberty to divulge much about the Stones’ upcoming plans, but he allowed that there is a “good possibility” the band will tour later this year.

Me too!

Wasn't there a line from Spinal Tap that "you can't promote something that doesn't exist?"

My two cents:They will tour in the fall to include Mexico, Brazil and Argentina or so, just another month, 7/8 show...Start in US early September till the end of November first a total of 21 show or so.

When Mick was touring solo in Japan and Australia he had a replacement Keith with him, the crowd was going wild!

that was just because the Stones have never been to Japan before Jagger's solo tour – and they haven't been to Australia since 1973

BV wrote there is nothing to worry about.

June 30th Unzipped will open again in Groningen.
Maybe they decided to play at the opening party ? :-)

There is absolutely nothing to worry about, except for the fact that they could not announce the tour this summer now. Hopefully they will find time etc to fit the shows in later this year, fall time.

If there is “absolutely nothing to worry about”, why is there’s no explanation as to why the announcement is cancelled?

Because - officially - there is no tour and therefore no announcement. There was never an announcement of an announcement either.

LOTS of bands place hold dates and book shows that never happen. I get informed of them from time to time as well.

I guess you can try writing the band a letter and asking?

Me? Not worried. Now my other plans aren't being held up buy what someone might do.

Yes, I realise that nothing official ever happened but nonetheless they cancelled what was to be an official announcement one day before it was due. I can’t believe that was because of something minor.Just as bv’s sources informed him what was planned,I would have thought they could let him know why things have been put on hold indefinitely.

What BV writes is always reassuring. But not now.
For me, none of the three is irreplaceable. Honestly, they'd rather not tour if either of them (Ronnie) is sick. The main thing is that they live.
It's bad to read speculation.

Why not? Rumors were that the 2023 Tour would be arenas & stadiums combined - maybe they couldn't book the venues as required by the tour schedule / logistics.

BV wrote earlier (on February 12) that they had "reserved venues in North America from early June to early September".

[iorr.org]

That would lead one to believe it wasn't about venue availability, at least.

I would also assume that the tour schedule and logistics are figured out much earlier than 2-3 days before the tour gets announced - if the tour was going to be announced this Friday.
