Thanks to Bjornulf for all the years he's maintained this forum and for his inexplicable patience during this era of entitlement and willful ignorance.

An announcement to cancel an announcement feels like a Monty Python sketch.

So is summer still at all a possibility? I’m a little confused.

According to BV no. They are looking at fall

Here is a thought, is there a Festival in the Fall where they could get a huge payday to make changing the whole tour worthwhile? Is Desert Trip coming back this year? Maybe they were trying to extend the Summer tour through to that but then decided it was too many shows, too long on the road, too costly to hire a crew that long? Perhaps changing a 14 show tour from Summer to the Fall makes sense if they are trying to accommodate a big Festival payday?

When Mick was touring solo in Japan and Australia he had a replacement Keith with him, the crowd was going wild!

From Interview with Karl Denson, San Diego Union Tribune:

Denson is not at liberty to divulge much about the Stones’ upcoming plans, but he allowed that there is a “good possibility” the band will tour later this year.

There is absolutely nothing to worry about, except for the fact that they could not announce the tour this summer now. Hopefully they will find time etc to fit the shows in later this year, fall time.
If there is “absolutely nothing to worry about”, why is there’s no explanation as to why the announcement is cancelled?
Because - officially - there is no tour and therefore no announcement. There was never an announcement of an announcement either.
LOTS of bands place hold dates and book shows that never happen. I get informed of them from time to time as well.
I guess you can try writing the band a letter and asking?
Me? Not worried. Now my other plans aren't being held up buy what someone might do.

I can’t believe that was because of something minor.

What BV writes is always reassuring. But not now.
For me, none of the three is irreplaceable. Honestly, they'd rather not tour if either of them (Ronnie) is sick. The main thing is that they live.
It's bad to read speculation.

Why not? Rumors were that the 2023 Tour would be arenas & stadiums combined - maybe they couldn't book the venues as required by the tour schedule / logistics.
