I’m a millennial, too. I’m not sure where you fit on that spectrum, yet I suspect you’re a little younger than I. Perhaps you missed out on all the great alternative music of the early 2000’s. My passion was always towards my father’s LP collection, yet every generation should have its own scene. I needed ‘my group’; something that stood for me as a young person. I found that in The Strokes and Libertines. I have so much nostalgia for that time and the wonderful social life I had: indie nightclubs, endless cigarettes, and girls, girls, girls, and more girls! Sigh... to be that age again!

You shouldn't "love" newer bands because you're setting yourself up for disappointment when they start to "branch out" I used to like the Black Keys, only for them to come out with El Camino. For me it was "Oh now you like them too, what a f*king surprise"
