Odd that a post about "Operation Warp Speed" - an article about the quest for a vaccine written by a science website - has been deleted as there was nothing political about it other than it had the US Presidents name.
Thought it would be newsworthy to note the lengths the US goverenment is willing to go to try and fight this problem.
I saw an interview clip last night of Alan Dershowitz - a self described left wing liberal (opposite of the President fyi)- and he praised the idea saying (to paraphrase) "all politics aside, I would think this is something that most everyone would get behind and root for". I'm not a Trump supporter by any means, but evidently mentioning anything positive about the current President and his goals is off limits here?
Not so odd considering the agenda here. Discussions should go both ways but apparently that isn't the case. Nice knowing you guys.
Evidently it's OK to post a link about a "Trump Death Clock" here that tallies up coronavirus deaths in the US due to the Presidents inaction at the beginning of the crisis.
Not that I minded seeing that as I thought it was a clever "artistic" statement, but no doubt it's a political statement bashing the current administration no matter how you look at it.
Oh well, looks like that's the way it is. A bit one sided imo, but life goes on and no reason to say goodbye, so stick around as there might be some Stones news that will interest you....maybe another single.

The American discourse here is unintelligible to me. I guess it's esoteric. It's like trying to understand American politics. I guess you have to live there to understand it.
What would be interesting to discuss on a forum like this one would be how society will look post Corona. I mean the implications of this pandemic on the (Western) society.
From cultural as well as economical aspects. How travel will change and so on. And of course how the sports- and entertainment industry will adapt to it.
But I guess that is not doable?

One American's view - some hate Trump with a passion, some love him with equal zeal, most (like me) just want a better life/world.
The disease knows no boundaries, political or otherwise. It sickens me to watch both sides blame the other.

If the Death Clock had been posted with a link alleging it to be from a real scientific site, as apparently your offending post did, it would have been removed.
This isn't a "both sides" issue, it's a don't spread actual fake news regardless of viewpoint issue.
If I intentionally, or accidentally, posted an article from a "scientific website" that I thought was real, I would be embarrassed and upset by it and certainly wouldn't come back making a "but some of the info was real", and there were other points in it that were good" argument. I would apologize and try to source more reputable sites that backed my claim if there were any.
Science, unlike politics, doesn't care what side you're on, it cares about being factual, Good on Bjornulf for keeping this site free of fake news on both sides.

I've had several posts deleted from this thread in the past and probably rightfully so (based on the supposed "no politics" rule), and have never asked out loud or wondered why. But this recent post was none of that - it was a generic article from a valid website that basically summarized the press conference while also adding several critiques throughout. Similar articles have been posted by hundreds of websites, and this one wasn't any different. It even mentioned the fact that Dr, Fauci (remember, a respected scientist) who was standing behind the President at the press conference and has a much different timeline for a vaccination. Perhaps Bjornulf deleted my post as a mistake as he said he sometimes does, so I'll settle for that - no need for me to be embarrassed. Yes the new project is highly debatable, but wouldn't it have been nice to be able to discuss the pros and cons? I thought so anyways. And daspy might have thought also as his subsequent rebuttal reply shows (and which I happened to agree with). As for the Trump Death Clock, does it really matter where it was published? Clearly it's political and not scientific or factual ("yeah, let's pin the blame of every death on Trump") - unless of course you believe that everything wrong in the world is because of Trump. By the way, are you now a moderator here?

For what it’s worth Hairball, I thought your post/link was legit. I was onboard. Bjornulf just looked at it with a stronger microscope.

Also, he stated that another reason the post was removed was it included what appeared to be an official transcript from the WH, and he removes official lit from political entities etc..

Curious about the thoughts from the Londoners who post here on the current state of things there and on the protest in Hyde Park today.
Hard to keep up with what's going on in all the different countries, and UK's stats aren't generally broken down and analyzed by city, but it seems the city was hard hit and is now doing much better than the rest of the UK in terms of new cases.
In looking at the video footage of the protest and arrests it seems the police there are taking things more seriously than here and shutting the protests down.
Another thing that jumped out at me watching the footage was how few masks were being worn, not by the protesters which would be expected, but by onlookers and police etc.
Are they not widely used in London?
Coronavirus: Inside the UK’s biggest anti-lockdown protest
This is the largest anti-lockdown protest yet seen in the UK, seeing around 100 people gather in London’s Hyde Park.
LONDON has been the hardest coronavirus hit area in the UK, with the capital suffering 26,113 cases to date.
However new research is showing that the lockdown is working in the city and that R is down to as little as 0.4 with only 24 new cases being reported each day.

Never had the pizza. Was mostly fed by others. One of my crew had the VIP hospitality and they let him bring food and drinks out. I was in the pit and wan't leaving my spot.
Those were great times, not like today.

This is why I was speculating that if any of the Stones gigs were to be rescheduled, Vancouver would be the most likely.
Still not very likely, I realize, but the most likely.

Vancouver could be hub city for NHL's return, B.C. premier confirms
British Columbia is in the running to host NHL games if hockey is able to return this season.
"Premier John Horgan confirmed Wednesday the province spoke with league commissioner Gary Bettman and deputy commissioner Bill Daly late Tuesday.
He said he could see Vancouver as a potential hub city and also floated the possibility of other B.C. rinks hosting more games if the league wanted to centralize in one province.
"The sky's really the limit," Horgan said. "I wanted to let the commissioner know that British Columbia stands ready to assist in looking at a plan brought forward by the players and the NHL. If we can make it work, I think it would be great for B.C. and great for the NHL."

The FDA shutdown of this testing program in Seattle hopefully will be short lived.
Frustrating to not only not have a national testing program, but to compromise a privately funded/government partnership program like this makes little sense.

F.D.A. Halts Coronavirus Testing Program Backed by Bill Gates
The program allows people in the Seattle area to easily take a coronavirus test at home. Researchers say such testing is essential for future monitoring of the virus.
SEATTLE — An innovative coronavirus testing program in the Seattle area — promoted by the billionaire Bill Gates and local public health officials as a way of conducting wider surveillance on the invisible spread of the virus — has been ordered by the federal government to stop its work pending additional reviews.
The program involved sending home test kits to both healthy and sick people in the hope of conducting the kind of widespread monitoring that could help communities safely reopen from lockdowns. Researchers and public health authorities already had tested thousands of samples, finding dozens of previously undetected cases.
“Not only will it help improve our understanding of the outbreak in Seattle, it will also provide valuable information about the virus for other communities around the world,” Mr. Gates wrote.
