By the way: British food is really great! Anytime I visit the UK I live on Indian currys, great chinese food, vietnamese cuisine, interesting japanease dishes, indonesian food etc…
Indian, Chinese and fish and chips are probably the three biggest takeaway options nationwide. Dining-in wise, Thai is now quite popular; Vietnamese, Japanese and Indonesian, less so. Perhaps there are places in london, however.

Quick question on tipping etiquette in the UK vs the US for those that know.
Typical restaurant tipping here is about 20% (at times added automatically to the bill) dependent on service, similar there? Thanks in advance.
Not obligatory. So just tip if BOTH the food and service was worth it. Avoid chain restaurants if you can as they are all pretty rubbish and give British food a really bad name.
Also many of the chains have a system where tips are not shared with kitchen staff so someone who carries plates gets paid more than the people working like dogs in a hot kitchen all night.

I reckon there's now more pizza take-aways than Chinese.

AXS gives very early start times for the two new shows: Southampton 17.00 (doors 15.00). Doesn't sound right does it?
I'm wondering if I can get the 11pm train back from Southampton though...
Does anyone have any educated guesses how long these shows might be, from the advertised showtime (support act presumably) until the end of the Stones' set? (Last time I saw them there was no support so it was just two hours straight and done, which I rather liked.)

There a plenty of great places to eat all over the UK. I am Australian but have lived in the UK for over 12 years. The choice of food here is easily as good as it is in the US and most of Europe, and in fact I would say its quite a lot better. I live in Winchester which is a small city (only 50,000 people) - we have great Japanese, Thai, Malaysian, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Indian and Italian restaurants, as well as a rick Stein Seafood restaurant, two Michelin star restaurants, and lots of awesome pubs with excellent food. Anybody who thinks the UK doesn't have good food isn't going to the right places!

No, British food is great - plenty of great pubs with excellent Briiish food. If you are in the UK on Sunday you need to find a good pub, have some proper English, Scottish, Welsh or irish beer, and a Sunday roast.

Now that sounds like an excellent plan!

go to a drugstore or pharmacy first – they sell everything you will need (plus much more that is available in drugstores in other countries.

All the foreign foods available in major towns and cities (and much smaller outlying areas) is just trying to keep up with how cosmopolitan we have become over the years. It is not unusual for a small village Chinese Takeaway to also cook sausages, pies, or fish and chips too!
But the best traditional British food will definitely be served in a good pub. But something to keep in mind re the wonderful traditional Sunday Lunch (often called a carvery, you line up and help yourself), is that it will only be served at lunch time. When all the freshly cooked food is gone, that's it, no more cooking for the day. Typically, they will serve the Sunday Lunch from about 12.30 - 4.00, and do not cook again in the evening. (Only on Sunday's though, all other days they cook in the evening, apart from the odd few who may be shut on Mondays).
This has definitely been the case in every pub I have had Sunday Roast Lunch, all over England and Wales. But it's well worth planning your day around it.
