Eric a few days ago in Argentina, it's a return to form, not seen him playing this intense for years, incredible at 79 years of age.
Old Love.

Don't watch him often enough to know how much this playing is typical from him (I mean, I'd think it should be if he's charging money for people to see him), but I went in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised to be blown away by his fire there. Crushed it, which at his age when he could be doing nothing is really cool to see. Sounds great, looks great, would love to see him blow me away at the Robbie Robertson tribute in a few weeks in LA.

Even he seemed a little surprised by his soloing in this video!

Agreed, he said in a recent interview he was suffering from a chest infection he couldn't shake on the last tour, so explains why he appeared so tired towards the second half of the shows.
He's got an ambitious tour ahead of him, hope he stays well bless him.
I'm seeing Dylan on the first of November, I have to pinch myself to make sure this isn't a dream all my heroes are still touring, let's enjoy them while we can.
Hope you enjoy the Robbie Robinson tribute, should be fantastic.

VIBRA, São Paulo, September 28

Lonely Stranger and Believe In Life back in the setlist, with Brazilian Jazz guitarist Daniel Santiago sitting in. Santiago joined the next number Tears in Heaven as well as Before You Accuse Me for the encore.

Wish I had been there.

Allianz Parque, São Paulo, September 29

Venue changed from a 7k theatre on the first night to a 40k football stadium on the second night.
Same setlist as last night.

Although Daniel Santiago sit in on Lonely Stranger, Believe In Life and Tears in Heaven like last night, he didn’t join Before You Accuse Me for the encore tonight (according to setlist.fm).

[edit: Daniel Santiago did join the encore (setlist.fm was amended thereafter).]

Same 15-song setlist as San Diego.
Hopefully he hasn’t stepped into the “Eric going through the motions” zone.

Any predictions of what you think he might play at the Robbie Robertson tribute next week? I don't assume anything in his current set...

Likewise I can't see him busting this out with the amount of fire he does here, but I'd love to be wrong!

My safe bet would be The Shape I’m In and/or It Makes No Difference, both of which EC opened last year’s brief US fall tour with in tribute to Robertson. And maybe finishing the event with I Shall Be Released with all the performers turning up on stage.

Further On Up The Road on The Last Waltz was one of the most memorable performances and scenes from the night. It was a product of chance, immortalized by that unforgettable happening of Eric’s guitar strap falling off — a moment never to be repeated.

Further on up the Road for certain. I saw him play it with Robbie at the Crossroads Guitar Fest in Chicago in 2006, and of course it was played at the Last Waltz

He's been going through the motions for 30 years.

That said, speaking of 30 I might go tonight if the tickets hit that price point.

15 songs almost feels like ‘bad value for money’ I do, however, see that he performs for around 99 minutes. It’s just that, with such a huge career, you’d - naturally - expect a little more. Of course, he’s nearing 80; and he’s still evidently a fabulous guitarist.

Hollywood Bowl, Los Angeles, CA, October 12

Again, same setlist as San Diego and Palm Dessert, that is, EC’s all three Californian concerts are identical in terms of song selection and running order.

How disappointing for the repeaters. But that’s Eric for you.

Thought he did really well tonight at the Robbie Robertson tribute. Felt like he really put his heart into it, was super genuine, and surprised with a longer set than I expected and only one I definitely assumed. The set break before him took awhile (it ended up being his whole band, so they cleared out a lot that was up there for their setup) which kinda killed the flow of the night a bit (it was the second intermission of the night). Though I will say I didn't expect he would be on at that point, so any slowness was zapped away by his presence. The breakdown of his band's stuff was also a bit of a mood killer. I understand why he went in the middle instead of closing, but the almost hour that was his set and breakdown and setup was a bit odd.

Great set though. I thought he sounded strong, and his playing was really good. I did keep waiting for him to go into a different gear, but he's 80, I understand that. For what he was, I thought he was great. Spirited playing throughout and good mix of songs. The Shape I'm In was expected, but I totally thought it might just be that and It Makes No Difference, so it was great to get 5 songs, and all from different points. Out Of The Blue and Forbidden Fruit were surprising choices, as was Chest Fever which I totally loved. And I was so thrilled to get Further On Up The Road. No it wasn't the Last Waltz level version, but it was great fun and he definitely picked it up as it went on. It was a nice sentiment and really just a great set from him I think. I wouldn't have expected anything more at least, in fact I had expected less that maybe he'd do two songs at the end of the night.

Eric Clapton and his touring band (so Doyle Bramell III, Chris Staiton, etc)
22. The Shape I'm In - Clapton
23. Out Of The Blue - Clapton
24. Forbidden Fruit - Clapton
25. Chest Fever - Clapton
26. Further On Up The Road - Clapton

Many thanks for the info, RollingFreak.

Today is the fiftieth anniversary of EC’s Japanese debut — Nippon Budokan, Tokyo, October 31 (Thu), 1974.

He has since toured the country 23 times, playing 222 concerts in total, of which 102 are the Budokan shows (the most frequent non-Japanese artist who played the venue). This is the third in number next to the UK and the US in his career on the road since the days with The Yardbirds.

Yeah, I remember looking a little while ago into that. Didn't realize it had been so many times:

In his career, Clapton's played about 50 times at MSG (solo and with others like Cream), a little over 100 times at Budokan, and a little over 200 times at Royal Albert Hall (solo and with others like Cream). Safe to say those are his 3 most played venues of his career?

Damn! And he played in Serbia 3 times in total - 1979, 1984 and 2010... at least I got to see him that third time - with Winwood as a bonus.

UK tour 2025 announced.
Two consecutive years at the RAH, which is unusual for him (if you don’t count the Jeff Beck tribute in 2023).

Son of a bitch. JUST booked my honeymoon, which will end in London, and I was like "I'd love to see someone at Royal Albert Hall, but no one is playing there at that time. Maybe Clapton will announce something cause he loves it there." We fly home to the US on the 18th lol. Not that we could have booked something different anyway, but so close and won't be able to swing it.

grinning smiley LOL, yes, its all first world good problems to have. Happy to be getting the honeymoon, just would have been so awesome to catch a show at the Royal Albert Hall, and Clapton would be a great pick. Rest of the trip won't be a disappointment though.
