So glad this thread is here... I now remember what my lunch plans were for today! Chuck's gonna be in the CD player on the way to the gig tonight!

Peace,
Mr DJA

Argh!!! The Best Buy website says the album isn't being released until June 16th!!! WTF?!?!?! I'll have to wait to call the store to confirm but it's looking like I'm about to take advantage of Amazon's "AutoRip" eligibility and wait for the physical CD until sometime next week...

Now what to do for lunch...

Peace,
Mr DJA

"Software and hard drive" made me chortle out loud: I'm thinking of using it as a chat-up line.

I think he did Enchaladas when I saw him play in 2007.

Lady B Goode...I don't know...I think I've heard this tune before. He's ripped someone off... ;-)

A nice ending to a three parts story.

Another one I really love is "She Still Loves You". Actually I would say all the bases are covered on this record. A fine piece of Rock And Roll!

We finished up recording the show a couple of hours ago. Fun but without my dad there I felt something was missing.

Just watched it, good job, and thanks for hanging out here with us all, I'm sure your Dad's proud of his son and grandkid carrying on the legacy. And nice touch with the Cardinals hat. smiling smiley

I've actually met you once at a free show done for Johnnie Johnson many years ago where the Kentucky Headhunters showed up and played with him at Kiener Plaza. Johnnie and I had a mutual friend, I congratulated him, he remembered me and introduced me to you!

Watched the show last night for the 1st time in... well, at least this decade, maybe the 1st time this century... Y'all were worth the wait and resulting lack of sleep! I can only imagine the "hole" you felt without your dad being there but thought that you did the song, his music and his memory proud. At least that's what I got where I was sitting outside of Knoxville, TN. I was happy for both you and CBIII and hope that y'all were happy with the results as well.

Side question... was the piano player part of your group or one of the show's band members? I thought he did a very good job picking up the essence/feel/sound of "Chuck Berry piano", for lack of a better term.

Good job all! If I never watch a "Tonight Show" again, I'll have at least gone out on a good, and worthy note!

Peace,
Mr DJA

I watched it this morning. I really like the song so I wanted to hear it live but I couldn't help but feel a little sad because its Chuck's song.

I wish CBIII was the only one who did the "Chuck scoot", but he was blocked out by the guy singing. Thought it would have been cool if his grandson only did it as well as the duck walk..oh well. I thought CBII played great and I felt he was thinking of his dad.....Agreed that it was a very nice touch with the Cardinals hat.....

Oh man those clips of him playing the under the St. Louis Arch bring back high school memories, I was there! I think it's the same year Elton played there too, early 1980's I believe.

I love this album. My favourite song is Dutchman with its powerful story telling. I saw Ingrid play in St. Louis in 2012 at a conference and her group was so tight. That guitarist could play like Johnny B. Goode. CB2,the album is a classic and it must be great being part of it all.

Thank you for posting the video. Very nice words there. I love the record, can't say it enough. For me it's the release of the year even though we're just over half way through. But no way something else is going to move me like this. Thanks The Stones postponed their new one until next year. Usually I want it all but this time I need a little space. Cheers!

Chuck Berry's Last Ride

A very nicely written article that reminds how great a songwriter Chuck Berry was.

"The Great Twenty-Eight" - side 4, "I Want To Be Your Driver"...??

Well, I guess "The Great Twenty-SEVEN" didn't sound 'marketable' enough.

Seriously: I can't remember EVER having heard of that song...
and I've been listening to Chuck Berry since I was 8 (which is almost 41 years to the date).

So I guess I've got some exploring to do at home tonite. smoking smiley

I listened this album to death, and that was one of the songs I didn't liked that much.

I always thought it was strange that they included that instead of something like Promised Land, You Never Can Tell or Run Rudolph Run for example.
