Yeah, poor Hitwall. He would have loved that Keith solo album.

And let's not forget Ben Waters, who was also a confirmed guest. I just hope it doesn't turn into a Rolling Stones and Guests affair like so many other latter day releases by older musicians.

From a interview with Paul McCartney for Brazil's O Globo:

"Paul McCartney says it was "a lot of fun" to record a guest appearance, playing bass, on the new Rolling Stones album.

— One day I was having dinner with Ronnie (Wood, guitarist for the Stones), I asked how the recordings were going and he said to me: “Oh, sometimes I have to mediate between Mick (Jagger, vocals) and Keith (Richards , guitarist)..." And then I said that I had a guy to help them, Andrew Watt, the producer I was working with. Later we even found out that Mick was already talking to him – he reveals. — And then Andrew asked me one day, “Would you like to play bass on some tracks?”

After recording two Stones songs, Paul came home like a little boy:

“I realized that I had known these guys forever, that I had been to their shows, and they to ours, and that John (Lennon) and I had even done some backing vocals for one of their songs. But I had never played with them, all together, in the same room. So I loved it."

Thanks Cristiano for the latest Macca-Stones news. thumbs up

Now it's two songs from Paul?!!!! Will both new tunes make it on to the new Stones album?
And if there is indeed two tunes featuring Paul, maybe there will be a cover tune AND an original...the possibilities of pondering either are endless.

Will the original be a rocker? A ballad? A dance tune? Maybe something traditional/bluesy, or something edgy/contemporary??
Will the cover be a Beatles tune? A Stones tune? Or maybe even both with a remake of I Wanna Be Your Man? Or maybe an old blues cover? Or a Motown cover? Or maybe it will simply be two originals or two covers?
Something tells me the mythical tune Paul and Keith wrote together will finally see the light of day...that sure would be a treat. Whatever the case, Pauls excellent bass playing will be a welcome addition imo.
Hopefully Bill's contribution will be just as major and celebrated in the same way. And then there's Elton John, Ben Waters, and other possible guests to ponder (Dua Lipa?), not to mention the multiple producers.
Seems like a lot of commotion just to record a single album with so many guests and producers involved, but hopefully they will narrow it all down to the best of the best. It's been along time coming...

Bridges part II anyone!?!? How ironic that so many on here loathe the latter day output and yet many of us are yearning for something on par with Bridges. Arguably their last great album. Phenomenal tour, great songs, awesome artwork.

I do hope they put time effort and thought into the title and cover. And I’d definitely love for the track list to play as if it were a record first and foremost and then a CD or digital download. Think about song placement.

Exile part 2? There were a few guests on there as well smiling smiley

There is some really good stuff on Bridges (and some bad stuff, imo). Never liked the artwork. Missed the tour, unfortunately sad smiley

Wasn't there only 1 producer for Exile though? B2B had multiple hence the reference there, and makes it more fitting.

Maybe he's going to play on the next one then!

Maybe so, and I do hope it happens, but it might take them another 18+ years to finish and release it! eye popping smiley
On the bright side, that's just in time for Ringo's 101st birthday celebration!!!

Indeed! If it weren't for the ex Beatle playing bass on that track, I doubt they would have been able to finish the album!

Where would they be without Bill? Don't you bring in the senior speacialist if everything gets stuck? winking smiley

Speaking of good old Bill...

Would have been nice to have Bill playing on two new tunes like Paul is, rather than one. His playing will no doubt give the tune some of the long lost Stonesy authenticity that's been missing since he left.
And maybe/hopefully Keith will take over some of the bass duties as he's done so well in the past. In fact I'd say Keith's bass playing is superior to that of Darryl's as far as the unique Stonesy sound is concerned,
and thats not intended to be a criticism of D.Jones who obviously has skills. Thinking of tunes like Sympathy, Live With Me, etc., not to mention the many excellent tunes Keith plays bass on for the Crosseyed Heart album.
Keith might have lost a step or two when it comes to his guitar playing, but his bass playing is still top notch superior imo. And is it possible they would bring in Charlie Drayton from the Winos? Wouldn't surprise me with Steve Jordan now in the mix, and it might be interesting to hear the classic Stonesy sounding Wino team of Jordan/Drayton on a Stones album, though probably not everyone would agree which is understandable.
I'm just thankful Bill has been invited back no matter the limited role, not to mention being grateful that some of the recordings made with Charlie on drums will be included on the long awaited album.
Meanwhile...waiting, wondering, hoping, pondering, speculating, day dreaming, imagining, and reimagining....will the new album ever see the light of day? Hope so.

Funny that now it's suddenly two songs with Macca on bass. Just wondering if both will be on the new album, or only one - or none? At this point, everything seems possible.
As for bass playing and bass solos, if there were time machines I'd love to hear a mid-1970s Stanley Clarke playing the solo on Miss You - could be absolutely stellar - or totally beside the point.

Could be Paul playing bass on two, one, or even none on the new album, but in his own words he did record two. But the bigger question for me is if one of those tunes is the tune that he and Keith wrote together.
A McCartney/Richards track on a Stones album?!!! I would have thought the Macca-Keith track would eventually surface on a Keith or a Macca solo album, but so far it remains an elusive and mysterious little ditty.
I know Keith has spoken highly of it in the past, so maybe it will eventually see the light some day whether on the Stones album, or a Paul or Keith solo album. Maybe even a b-side for the first new single?

That "tune" Keith and Macca supposedly wrote sure seems to be a big thing for you.

Along with Crosseyed Heart.

If it obviously wasn't good enough for either Crosseyed Heart and Macca's numerous albums released in the meantime, it should probably better stay away from the Stones and remain "an elusive and mysterious little ditty"...

Taylor Swift announced today the release of her album 1989 for 10/26 and it will be the release of the year, already in less than 12 hours it sold 140,000 copies in pre-sale only in the United States, so:

1- The Stones album will not come out on 10/26 or 11/03, with such high sales in the first 2 weeks, the Stones album (and any other release) does not have the slightest chance and will be totally overshadowed

2- In order for it to come out earlier, like 10/20, it has to be announced next week at the latest, if there are no news we are going to launch for 11/17 or 11/24 at the earliest, seeing the timeline of announcement and release of albums today.

Taylor Swift is re-recording her old albums because her former record label, Big Machine Records was sold to Scooter Braun, giving him the rights to Swift's master recordings for Big Machine.

It's a rerecorded album, they don't sell millions. She's released another one last month in July.

The last one debuted at #1 with over 700k and it's not one of her most popular albums.

1989 is her best selling and by far most pupular album, it will sell over 1.2 or more only during the first week and over 300k on the second week, and that is a very conservative number.

Well, Red (Taylor's version) has sold 1.392.500 copies. Fearless (Taylor's version) has sold 1.015.000.

Red (Taylor's version) also became the most-streamed album in a day from a female artist on Spotify, with more than 90.8 million global opening-day streams.

So these re-recordings are a big deal for her fans (of which there are many around the globe) smiling smiley

The album, by most accounts, is finished. People outside their inner circle have heard it. As Rocky noted, there is a marketing budget for it; they have begun laying the groundwork to promote it. They could’ve claimed any piece of real estate on the release calendar that they desired.

And yet…

I can’t help noticing this is all happening in the same year that they managed to get themselves shut out of the stadium touring network because of logistical and/or scheduling snags.

Sigh.

Could be, but her fans don't know what The Rolling Stones is. They think it's a brand for t-shirts with the tongue logo on it.

George’s point is that, for at least those two weeks, there is zero chance the Stones will chart as high as they might against lesser competition.

Don't ever sell her fans short...
Everyone knows who The Rolling Stones are, including those fans. Swift has performed with The Rolling Stones and Mick Jagger has performed with Taylor Swift.

Reality of the situation is that she absolutely RULES the entertainment business today. Concerts AND music releases. A true and authentic juggernaut.

I know, it's not like the Stones and her are competing for the #1 on the Billboard Hot 100? They're in different leagues. Her fans are in their 20s, or teens, the only Jagger they know is the song Moves Like Jagger. She releases like 2 albums a year so by that logic she had been blocking the release of the new Stones album since 2006.
