They started with blues cover album, now, around the end of their trip they do it again. Like a framework.

I keep fingers crossed it won't turn out to be their final album, though.

So the announcement is tomorrow at 2pm here in the U.K. I hope it's not going to guess what we have a new blues album coming out in December
As I want and still hoping we get something released from the album this week.

He said that, in order to loosen up the band, Keith Richards suggested playing Little Walter’s “Blue and Lonesome.” “It was just magnificent,” Was told Australia’s RRR (the interview begins at roughly the 1:54:00 mark). “When they play that music, they become something very true to who they are and something really unique as well. …It’s really good.”

Most newspaper hint at a full release tomorrow, not just a single. Maybe they got a good deal with Apple Music or Spotify and it's going to be a full digital release tomorrow with a CD to follow later. I'd approve.

This could be really great. Jagger's unreleased blues album was fantastic, so why shouldn't this be, too?

I love the fact that they are highlighting the great Little Walter with both the first single (apparently) and the album title. Credit where credit is due. Little Walter, criminally underrated and forgotten by the mainstream, thus gets the exposure he deserves. The fact that Little Walter was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame as a "sideman" was an insult. Yes, his harmonica playing on other people's records is great, but it is not his greatest achievement. He recorded over 100 songs (all great) for Chess as a band leader. He wrote the songs, he sang the songs, he arranged them, he lead the band and he played the harmonica. He was a good guitar player, too. His greatest achievement is the creation of those over 100 recorded sides for Chess. The creation of a visionary, modern sound. The Rolling Stones put Little Walter where he belongs – center stage.

A big thumbs up

It makes sense : a blue tongue cover for the blues album. Simple designs are sometimes the best. I quite dig it.

I agree. thumbs up

the most accurate sign (for most of the Stones' 'new' stuff releases in the last 20+ years) is simply:

Didn't know Coldplay had done that but the U2 freebie was quite the fiasco since the download was forced on iTunes users...

Having said that a full release (where has this been hinted at?) tomorrow would indeed be great!

The Coldplay freebie was a download from their website, not automatically installed on people's i-phones like the U2 album.

Exactly what I was thinking. That art looks terribly amateur. Even if it was fan made bootleg art I would say it looks like garbage.

Litte Walter is indeed great and by coincidence I recently watched "Cadillac Records" where he is featured with Muddy, Howlin', etc...in this story about Chess records. However I'm not sure how much of an actual "writer" he is as he wrote neither of the two LW tunes on B&L we know about, "Just Your Fool" is by Buddy Johnson and "Blue and Lonesome" is by Memphis Slim, while one of his other hits "My Babe" is by Willie Dixon ;-)

Yeah? What about 'Juke', 'Mean Old World', 'Blues With A Feeling', 'Confessin' The Blues', and 'Key To The Highway' to name a few? All written by 'Little' Walter Jacobs.

'Mean Old World', 'Blues With A Feeling', 'Confessin' The Blues', and 'Key To The Highway'

No not penned by Lil Walter ...

from wiki; another fascinating tidbit about this incredible soul.

_______
However, unlike other contemporary blues harp players, such as Sonny Boy Williamson I and Snooky Pryor, who like many other harmonica players had also begun using the newly available amplifier technology around the same time solely for added volume, Little Walter purposely pushed his amplifiers beyond their intended technical limitations, using the amplification to explore and develop radical new timbres and sonic effects previously unheard from a harmonica or any other instrument.[2] In a short biographical note on Little Walter, Madison Deniro wrote that he was "the first musician of any kind to purposely use electronic distortion."________

tho his 'acoustic' work w Muddy and others is also supreme...
It's a great thing for the Stones to bring his name and talent into prominence in this new millenium.

This is going to be awesome, The Stones doing what they do best, what they love doing. Finally a blues album, been waiting for that for years.

I think the album art is awesome as well, simple, blues tongue, less is more, which is what they have always been about, subtle delivery, lots of tease.

COOK COOK BLUES, and FANCYMAN BLUES...I really listen to all the time.

I can't wait to throw my next party, with the blues in the background...

First the total Stripped, now this....Thank you to The Rolling Stones.

Mick Jagger and the Blue Devils. It's out there if you hunt around- I have it as the CD, The Nature of My Game. Good, raunchy blues.
