It's okay but it's very literal. The BLUEs... The color BLUE. I get it.

Certainly not a very good idea to use it for album artwork...

I'd say this took ten minutes tops using Photoshop.

I think it's a mistake not to keep the original colors of their logo. The original's colors: BIG RED tongue and lips, sexy black and white accents -- that's part of what made the logo great. imo. And definitely recognizable!

I would much rather see this. Point is, that even if the bill is posted on a garbage dumpster, and even if the new music is the same old garbage... It would still be Stones garbage. Which is to say, authentic.

That's what I call great. It's just fun to see the tongue plastered around everywhere. Fun is great. Can you peel those off and save them? Maybe with steam or something?

There's always the original tongue and the 'new' tongue so this blue one - whatever. They started screwing with it big time in 1989 and it hasn't been the same since; the BANG one sucked.

Why not? Of course it's ridiculous. At least there will be an LP. I know someone that I used to deal with that was more focused on t-shirts and bumper stickers than finishing the damn album - and got t-shirts, bumper stickers and koozies made up and then a couple of years later the album came out with zero promotion and a very limited number of copies, slightly more copies of the LP than the amount of t-shirts etc for sale, and then it just stopped.


I can't speak for Europe etc but in the US there's the marketing mentality of Halloween stuff (and X-mas trees etc) that is "Put it out at the end of August, make more money".

Of course, they don't make "more" money. It's a fallacy, just like how grocery stores move their products to different aisles because "people will buy more stuff" when in reality they lose a considerable amount of regular customers.

Although having the single come out so far ahead of the LP is a bit odd for the Stones; they've usually put out a single as little as a few days week ahead (Emotional Rescue came out on 6-20-1980 and ER came out on 6-23-1980) to as much as a month ahead of an LP release.

There have been exceptions - It's Only Rock'N'Roll came out on 7-26-1974 and IORR came out on 10-18-1974!

It kind of defeats the purpose of an intimate recording with everyone in a circle to have the sound so compressed and brickwalled. I made a CD of the single along with the original tracks and I am listening to it in my car and the stones are just way too loud

The blue logo itself is fine, but placing it on a similar background just makes it a bit of an eyesore. The image below reveals how the logo was being projected onto the buildings around London and, imo, pairing it with a black background transforms the cover into a far more iconic design. If nothing else, it appears to reflect the raw, timeless music that will be contained within better than the bright, modern design of using all blue.

As well as the standard CD, there will be a deluxe edition of Blue & Lonesome (picture above) which will feature a 75-page mini-book about the making of the album and band postcard prints. A 2LP gatefold heavyweight vinyl edition (with download code) is also available.
