Have you ever been there? That's not gonna happen, it's too small. What makes you think it's in L.A.?

Yes, I have been there.

It's just a guess. Thinking they might want to take the new blues numbers out for a walk in some legendary, small club to approximate the feel of a weathered old juke joint.

That place has seen some history. The Band played their final gig onstage together there in 1978, when all of the original members showed up for an encore set at a Rick Danko show. This would only add to the Stones legend. Like the Checkerboard Lounge gig with Muddy.

Plus Blues and Whiskey go hand in hand!

The Whisky is the worst club in Los Angeles.

Yes, clubs with no history and no mojo.

Playing a dive just seems right for a Blues album.

Club gig tonight.
See photograph on the LA rehearsals thread.

Have fun everybody.

EDIT:
Quoting Roller99 from the LA reheasals thread:

"It's private, not a club gig. Not in L.A."

Thus.... a PRIVATE SHOW TONIGHT, not in LA.........

Goodnight fellow IORR'ers!

I will take a day or two off work if the boys invite me to their next club gig. As I missed the August 10, 1964 show in New Brighton.

>grinning smiley< Indeed ! I think they owe you - after 52 years ! grinning smiley grinning smiley grinning smiley

Thanks paulywaul. You would think that Stu could have come by and picked me up in the van - I was living so close by!

Yes, clubs with no history and no mojo.

Mojo? The Whisky is a shitty venue that extorts bands that can't get booked anywhere else on their own merit via the presale ticket scheme. No real musicians who actually live in this city take that place seriously.

I remember having this same conversation a few years ago when speculating on the club show. The Stones ARE the history, the venue doesn't really matter.

The Whisky isn't really a dive.

Hiya Sparkly Top !

Nope, neither. The industry I work in is not in the best of health at the moment, so regrettably ... belt tightening is the order of the day !

Vegas !!

I'd bet my money on some club in Chicago like Buddy Guy's joint? He might even join them for a few numbers.
And thru Buddy there's a direct spiritual connection with Muddy Waters. Stones/Muddy/Stones : the thing goes full circle.

I don't have "hard" info on a club gig, but I can tell you this based on having been at rehearsals and The Fonda gig last year. The day before a gig, they move the equipment out and set up. The day of the gig they do a sound check. Around 11 or noon. Yesterday all the gear was moved from the rehearsal space. So that would mean that if there is a club gig today, it's somewhere where they could truck the equipment. Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

I can also tell you knowing where a club gig is going to take place does nothing to improve your chances of getting in these days. I knew about The Fonda months prior, and that didn't help me get in.
