On these four discs of this carefully edited box-set you'll find all those recordings of The Rolling Stones that did not appear on the twelve Decca albums which were originally issued in Germany; Singles (A and B-sides), rarity items, and some titles which appear here for the very first time on an album. You will also find recording information, dates and places, where and when the songs were issued for the first time.

Note: @#$%& Blues was included in the first batch of this box set, in an anonymous white sleeve. It was later removed for the rest of the sets.

What are your thoughts on this compilation album?

A pudding somewhat over egged as Da Doo Ron Ron and Memphis are by the Andrew Oldham Orchestra albeit with some Stones participation, Memo From Turner is a Mick Jagger solo single and Natural Magic doesn't feature any Stones at all!

Selecting «rare» stuff to include on a Stones album might make you a bit blind,,,

If you were north european, chances would be that the german compilation "Around And Around" was considered a proper album by many.

"The Rest Of The Best" works out from that criteria and is an excellent supplement.

If I had been the compiler of it, I would have let the two Big Hits collections stand on their own and had condensed this one to 2 LP's.

Tell Me (2nd version) is NOT THE Tell Me.
It´s Tell Me Baby, How Many Times by Big Bill Broonzy
(unavailable elsewhere on official stuff).

So this box is highly collectible.

Just in case anyone was wondering why this is "The Rolling Stones Story" part 2.

The original Rolling Stones Story wasn't really a compilation, it was a 12 disc box set that included all of the albums released on Decca in Germany.

The Rolling Stones Story, part 2: The Rest Of The Best rounded up all of the tracks that weren't on the albums.

A compilation box set that I'm listening to right now smiling smiley

I'm on album 2, which is Around And Around.

There are some different versions and longer fades (and perhaps a different mix here and there?) on the albums in this box set thumbs up

It´s Tell Me Baby, How Many Times by Big Bill Broonzy...

and a great song it is! It has always been one of my favourites ever since I bought the Bright Lights Big City bootleg back in the late 1970s.

Interesting that in the album cover photo its Keith and Brian who are centre stage.
Mick on the other hand just squeezes in.

It's the same photo as on the cover of Out Of Our Heads (US), right?

And the compiler (W. Michels) had to dub it from a bootleg because he was not given access to the archives. Hell, he even had to "disguise" it as "Tell Me (2nd version)" which of course it is not.
