No 'Keith' song?
I'd love to hear what Mixed Emotions sounded like..

Seriously? I know how to drive, and could use some extra cake.
Mick woulda noticed me in that crowd for sure.
I'd been the only one jumping up and down.

I bet they've been rehearsing the new/ old blues,
and this was a sweet payday for Jagger to get his hips practiced/exercised
for the masses.
Desert Trip,
I think you're in for a treat.

Must have been the most bored crowd the stones ever played. i feel sorry for the stones, getting no energy back from the crowd.

They got paid $4 million to rehearse their warhorses for an hour or so. I wouldn't feel too sorry for them.

Five songs from the sixties, five from the seventies, two from the eighties, and two from the nineties. A 14 song set and we had three singles post-1981, that's great.

They rehearsed for five days. How much new material do you think they're gonna do with only five days rehearsal?

What amazes me the most is the fact that this show wasn't sniffed out sooner by those who usually do the sniffing on these gigs since McCartney played for them last year, seems like someone is off their game, no?

I've never seen the boys in an intimate setting, if it does happen one day the last thing I'll be bitching about is the set list....that said I honestly respect others rights to do so!

Cheers people!

I thought they rehearsed since Sept. 20? That's 2 weeks.

I notice that they now have a second keyboard rig to Darryl's left, behind the horns. I don't remember seeing that last year (or recently). I couldn't make out who was standing at it in the one pic that shows someone at it. Safe to assume it's Matt Clifford?

Peace,
Mr DJA

"Mixed Emotions" for the first time in more than 26 years.

I always have wondered what it would sound like without the slick 1989 / 1990 sound signature.

Otherwise,not much else of interest.

and also in 2007 in Barcelona.

Neil Young played for the same bankers earlier this year - a tad more hypocritical in some people's eyes. But at least he put on a great, 2-hour show.

People in suits seated in front row! LOL

The keyboard stage left is Tim's, isn't it? Or is that Pierre's keyboard?

I have to agree with paulywaul, though probably that setlist is what suited those suits down to the ground. I stand ready to be corrected, but from the photos the audience looks pretty lame - so much so that I almost feel sorry for Mick having to try and work them. Maybe some of them didn't even know the warhorses confused smiley

If one reads this .........

LAS VEGAS — The Rolling Stones played a blistering 90-minute surprise set on Oct. 3 for 1,200 truckers at the 2016 Freightliner customer appreciation dinner here. The event took place during American Trucking Associations’ annual Management Conference & Exhibition. The band played a 14-song set spanning their legendary catalogue inside a conference room converted into a concert venue at the Bellagio hotel. Throughout the evening lead singer Mick Jagger praised the work that truckers perform and thanked Martin Paum, president of Daimler Trucks North America, for inviting them to play. At one point, Jagger named several Freightliner truck models, saying they were great for taking the family on a Sunday afternoon drive. He also joked he was asked not to name any specific trucking companies or executives, something that Paul McCartney had done during his set at last year’s Freightliner dinner in Philadelphia. The Rolling Stones and McCartney are both taking part in a musical festival each of the next two weekends in California, billed as the Desert Trip. The Stones also return to Las Vegas to perform on Oct. 19 and Oct. 22 at T-Mobile Arena. The Stones updated their website Oct. 3, hinting at an announcement coming Oct. 6. Music industry speculation is that the announcement will reveal the release date for an upcoming blues-themed album. The set list performed by The Rolling Stones at the Freightliner event: Start Me Up You Got Me Rocking It’s Only Rock 'N Roll Out of Control Tumbling Dice Wild Horses Mixed Emotions Honky Tonk Women Miss You Gimme Shelter Brown Sugar Sympathy for the Devil Jumpin' Jack Flash Encore: (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction

.... OK, one could give them some slight benefit of the doubt. They effectively had their hands tied, entirely corporate audience, so hit them with a barrage of greatest hits (they're BOUND to be able to sing along to SOME at least), take the money .... and leg it !! Fair enough.

BUT ... instead of being just yet another arbitrary setlist moaning minnie, all I'm saying is that I personally would like to see (and I think a great many others too) is just a 'tiny little bit' of imagination and inventiveness creeping in to their live shows nowadays. Nothing tooooooooooooooooo radical, because if one is realistic, it must be accepted that to huge extent they remain victims of their own enormous success and therefore unable to escape from the need to cater to the mass (and largely ignorant) audience. There simply isn't that much scope for anything toooooooooooo radical in the way of change for the 'more interesting'. But there's gotta be something slight they can do to get away from a setlist such as this ......

Start me up
You got me rocking
It's only Rock n roll
Out of Control
Tumblin Dice
Wild Horses
Mixed Emotions
Honky Tonk Woman
Miss You
Gimme Shelter
Brown Sugar
Sympathy for the devil
Jumpin Jack Flash
Satisfaction

I'm begging them, please don't come up with a repeat of this for the desert shows, let alone the two indoor Vegas shows ..... the prospect of reading show reviews with similar such setlists has already got me depressed just thinking about it !!

[ I want to shout, but I can hardly speak ]

It was inevitable that we'd see the day of a bunch of old people sitting down politely at a Rolling Stones concert. After all, look how old the Stones are. Let's just be glad they're still playing.
