Well, dang, that's sad..

Was looking forward to that one. Hope Keith keeps Tell Me Straight in the show at least smiling smiley

Have they rehearsed any HD songs besides the 4 that have been played (Angry, Sweet Sounds, Mess It Up, Whole Wide World) and Bite Your Head Off which hasn't come out yet on the tour?

Yes, a bit of a disappointment they won't include it by the looks of it.

But to have an album with so much good material that they're in the unenviable position to choose what to leave off...Depending On You for me is another album highlight we unfortunately probably won't get to see.

I said it before but it would be good if they'd rotate angry and bite my head off

Time Is On My Side is not on that list, maybe there were one or two others?

They rehearsed TIOMS before the show...and it showed ;-) These guys are pros who've been playing for, well, decades, they probably don't really need to "rehearse" songs so much as to "shake off the rust" when they get together.

Dunno about "Get Close", they never played "Slave" live after all...I can't imagine how many "blank stares" Mick would be getting, not worth the hassle.

I believe that was a last minute deal in New Orleans.

They played Can't You Hear Me Knocking in 2022 though. If Mick was up for that, then I see no reason why they couldn't play Get Close as well, as it's a more poppy and accessible track.

I hoped they'd do it at least once or twice. That riff and sax solo would be a treat to hear. The chorus remains pretty weak to my ears though, and am surprised anyone would mention this as a top 10-15 track, But different strokes for different folks of course!

My favorite song on HD as well. Would be so great to hear it live.

Really was banking on hearing “Dreamy Skies” on this tour as well. I think it’s a beautiful song. Love the slide guitar.

Yes, Depending on You.

Not sure about Dreamy Skies. Has that one been rehearsed?

Based on the list provided above, Dreamy Skies, Get Close and Depending On You were all rehearsed. Along with Angry, Bite My Head Off, Live By The Sword, Sweet Sounds, Tell Me Straight, Whole Wide World, and Mess It Up. They pretty much rehearsed the whole album it looks like, cause that list includes everything but Rollin Stone (which I'd never have expected) and Driving Me Too Hard.

All of the things that make Get Close the best song (for many of us) on a great album are the same reasons why it couldn't be properly done live in 2024.

Maybe if it had been the promoted "hit" -- in place of Angry -- they would have tried it live, but it's not a song that MJ can disinterestedly talk-sing through and make work, and Ronnie's guitar playing carries the tune and it is frantic, frenetic and Faces-like at times (a style he has suppressed most of the past 49 years).

The positive aspect of no Get Close is we won't have any flaccid versions popping up in our heads, only the Andrew-Watt conjured and cajoled Hackney Diamond of a tune.

'Get Close' is far away from being performed

They did rehearse 9 out of the 12 HD songs. There are plenty of opportunities here, people just have to stop complaining and start enjoying. Also, many of those who complain don’t even go to shows.

Get Close full song was not known to have been rehearsed. It appeared on Topi’s list because one day a bit of the intro to the song was heard from outside, but nowhere close to the full song.

Too bad. It is probably their best song in 40 years. It's that damn good of a song. The out of nowhere sax and percussion break elevates it even more and could be nicely extended live.

I completely agree. It's the track that keeps me going back to HD. I would love to hear a 5:30 version a la Slave and indeed a 12-minute version like the boot of Slave.

Side note: Ronnie is acing it all over HD.

maybe at the end of the tour they ahould do 2 or 3 shows in a club or theatre and instead of the warhorse laden sets just do the album live

and advertise that ahead of time so that the casual fans know this won't be a geastest hits show

that way mick won't have to worry about whether or not the audience will want to hear the new songs

and they could then select the best performances from the two or three nights edit it together and sell us something new

May be they do half of HD at the Ridgedale show. Only time will tell.

Yeah I could not remember the details, knew it was something like this. Thanks for the clarification.

I honestly don't understand the love for this song. I really love HD but for me this is the weakest song. Maybe because it's the only song with a drumbeat that Charlie never would have played. The drumbeat and Jaggers overacted vocals makes this song for me something that could as well be an outtake of Goddes in the Doorway. But I'm glad there are different opinions here.

I want Live By the Sword in Van. Or at least to catch a recording of it at another show.

It's not that different to Slave, is it? Anyway, it's not a typical Charlie beat, I agree.
