I enjoy long versions of Miss You, JJF and Satisfaction. I bet this will move into the Setlist thread in a very short time. No need for a new thread. This topic has been disscussed hundreds of times.

Wouldn't you prefer to hear other or new songs instead of a 12 minute version of Miss You, an 8 minute version of Jumpin' Jack Flash or a 10 minute version of Satisfaction?

They've gotten so lost in the midst of those over-performed songs that they have no idea how long they're playing them anymore. Yet they stick to appropriate times with Can't You Hear Me Knocking, Worried About You, Memory Motel, YCAGWYW and Midnight Rambler.

They could easily fit in 4-6 more songs if they didn't play MY, JJF and S for 40 minutes combined.

Of course I would love to hear a 30 song setlist with rare stuff and less warhorses. But I'm realistic and I know what the Stones will perform in their concerts. They have a formula that satisfies the concert audience and that's fine for me.

I saw 61 shows (98 different songs!!!) and I know that when I see them live the next time I'm going to hear again long versions of their warhorses and I will enjoy them because I love them and I love the way they celebrate those songs live in concert.

You've seen The Rolling Stones SIXTY ONE times!!!???

That's really something. Holy crap.

You will find quite a few guys on this forum who have seen the Stones many many times. And a figure of 61 shows might seem conservative .
You will also find folk on the forum who are sofa commentators who have seen relatively few shows, yet who post utter garbage at times.A bit like a travel writer who has never got up from his Chesterfield sofa.Laughable.

LOL

I have only commented on the shows I've been to. In regard to that culture.

Live videos/albums/bootlegs are a whole other thing.

I think Angry could well kick off the show. They might try it for the first few gigs and if it’s not working switch to SMU or SFM.

That's not an entirely unreasonable suggestion...

...which in itself shows how much enthusiasm there has been for HD when compared to other modern era albums.

61 shows and only 98 songs?? How is that possible. was it all on juts one tour?

Ive seen "only" 22 shows, yet heard 123 different songs. My last show in 2019 was the first ever for me where i dint get a "new" live song. At least i know that cant happen next year with Hackney Diamonds sure to get some spots in the rotation.

Then you're probably a bit older than me and you had the chance to see them on more tours than I had. I started with Voodoo Lounge so I didn't get the "tour specific" songs from the tours before that.

I think this might be pretty close. But I’d leave out Mess it Up and, though I love it, Depending on You (I don’t think it would fit in a stadium setting). I’d also give Gimme Shelter the flick, as Keith can’t seem to play the subtleties of the intro anymore.

So I’d go:

1. Paint it Black
2. Angry
3. All Down the Line
4. Dead Flowers
5. Angie
6. Whole Wide World
7. Live by the Sword
8. Out of Time (yes I think they’ll wheel it out again!)
9. Happy

I think they’ll open with an old gem like Have you seen your mother or The last time or 19th Nervous..or something like that.

No way thy’ll play Dead Flowers or any other old country song having Dreamy Skies…Mick uploade a video playing this one.

Pretty close. They might switch to the wonderful Tumbling Dice soon and also switch a couple other tunes I added.

Definitely believe they'll do Out Of Time. Actually I believe it would become a war horse if there's more tours ahead. I'm curious to see how many HD tracks they might play. I feel they will mix it up a bit this time.

Replaced Mess It Up with Bite My Head Off and Depending On You with Whole Wide World but Dreamy Skies might suffer in a stadium. Otherwise it's an excellent set list: some of the long over done tunes are gone, there's still the bore of HTW, JJF and SMU for the hits fans.

They can get away with Angie, Wild Horses, etc in stadiums because people know those songs. They've been known for a long time and the songs have movement.

They did Almost Hear You Sigh in stadiums in 1989-90 because it was a single and it's got a solid beat to it.

I'd be impressed if they play Dreamy Skies at all in 2024 because it's such a quiet nuanced song. Could certainly happen in a smaller venue just as other songs work better in smaller venues.

It would be interesting, regardless, if they do play Dreamy Skies. They need to play the new album live like SOME GIRLS or, probably more realistically, TATTOO YOU and STEEL WHEELS.

Probably some sense there, GasLightStreet.

If they are able to do it, it should be a privilege for them once again to tour an album as much as possible, given the apparently positive reception over all to HACKNEY DIAMONDS.
