1. Start Me Up
2. LSTNT/19th Nervous Breakdown
3. Angry
4. Tumbling Dice
5. Out of Time
6. Sweet Sounds of Heaven/Depending on You
7. YCAGWYW
8. Honky Tonk Women

9. Tell Me Straight
10. Before They Make Me Run

11. Miss You
12. Midnight Rambler
13. Bite My Head Off/Whole Wide World
14. Paint it Black
15. Sympathy
16. JJ Flash

17. Gimme Shelter
18. Satisfaction

Just adding a dose of realism!

Maybe first night there will be 20 songs... add in You Got Me Rocking or Out of Control.

I think there is a chance they might consider a B-stage (not acoustic) as that would easily allow them to play a new song in the middle of two more classics - a bit like the ABB set up.

Something like:

1. Street Fighting Man
2. LsTNT
3. Angry
4. Tumbling Dice
5. Out of Time
6. Sweet Sounds/Depending on You
7. YCAGWYW
8. Honky Tonk

9. Tell me straight
10. Before They Make Me Run

11. Miss You

12. 19th Nervous (b- stage)
13. Whole Wide World b- stage)
14. Start Me Up (b stage)

15. Sympathy
16. Midnight Rambler
17. Paint it Black
18. JJ Flash

19. Gimme Shelter
20. Satisfaction

I wonder if they are going to open with a HD song. I see Angry as a solid song for the No. 2 spot in the setlist. But I still don't have a good candidate for the opener.
Tell Me Straight is going easily in Keith's set.

Sittin' on a Fence
Rollin' Stone Blues
Dead Flowers

in the middle of the show, B stage.

My preference is that they play the entire album, and then they intersperse each of the tracks with a classic… as they’ve often said
I believe this album was recorded to be played live!

I’d love to see them come to the Royal Abbott Hall for eight nights, playing the entire new album, interspersed with deep cuts and hits! What I will do later on is put down my order of tracks and chosen hits to be interspersed… But please contribute what you think you’d like the Tourle to be… Fantasy time!

I always thought they should do the old war horses first, then dig down for us fans who want more than Hot Rocks.

For me - they cannot play too much of the new album. It can be the Some Girl’s tour all over again.

I expect the same framework as normal with new songs in place of lstnt/19th (angry?), a new song instead of out of time, a new song instead of ghost town and tell me straight. 4 new songs which will come down to 3 very fast.

Hope they ditch miss you and ycagwyw. Then they can extend the setlist to 22/23 every night.

I'm expecting 4 HD tunes:
Angry
Whole Wide World/Bite My Head Off
SSOH/ Depending on You
Tell Me Straight obviously
Bring it on!!

I want a setlist that pisses off all the setlist whiners here whose biggest hobby during a tour is to complain about the setlist on iorr. Must look something like this:

Start Me Up
You Got Me Rockin'
Sad Sad Sad
Tumbling Dice
Streets Of Love
Angry
Honky Tonk Women

Infamy
Losing My Touch

Warhorses

Maybe something like this:

Jumpin' Jack Flash
Iorr
YGMR
Angry (The first night, but not on the rest of the tour)
Angie
Wild Horses
Tumblin' Dice
Honky tonk
Happy
Miss You
Midnight Rambler
Start me up
You cant always get...
Sympathy
Satisfaction

Speaking of seat-stools, on the 1970 European Tour the Helsinki Olympic Stadium / the Finnish promoter had provided the band with two of those.

Legend has it the Stones just took the stools with them and continued on to the next city!

I can certainly see them cutting the set to 17-18 songs, as it might be just a bit too much doing a full 2-hour set at their age. So let's assume 18 songs for now:

1. Angry
2. Tumbling Dice (although would be nice to have Driving Me Too Hard replacing it once!)
3. Whole Wide World
4. Bite My Head Off
5. VOTE SONG (unless they do a vote song for HD songs only - that would be cool!)
6. BALLAD ( Depending On You / Dreamy Skies )
7. Honky Tonk Women
8. Tell Me Straight
9. Happy / Before They Make Me Run
10. Mess It Up
11. Midnight Rambler
12. Paint It Black
13. Start Me Up
14. Gimme Shelter OR Sweet Sounds of Heaven with Lady Gaga (NYC?)
15. Sympathy
16. Jumpin' Jack Flash
---------
17. YCAGWYW
18. Satisfaction

Does anyone think Keith would be capable of playing more than, say 2 new songs a night?

Yep. Wait till Mick is feeling a little under the weather for that winking smiley

I still say the song the song they should open with should be "Time is on my Side". It may not be the uptempo opener we are used to but they can play a more energetic song in the two spot.

Why? Obviously the lyrics say it all, if you make to 80 years of age and you're still out there performing at this level, you deserve a little brag. It is also the opening song on "Hot Rocks" the Stones all time best selling album (?).

I always thought the highlight on the film "Lets spend the night together" was "TIOMS". The video clips from those 60's television appearances, in sync with the live performance could be done again. It would be a sort of Stones history lesson for young people.

Plus its a great song, I could just hear that little opening riff play, and then the lights come on to Mick singing the chorus! It is a great one-two punch between the guitar and vocal to open the show with.

I wouldn't worry if I were you. You'll probably get something very close to what you have listed. Good luck to you. Me? I'm one of the 'set list whiners' mentioned by another contributor hereabouts. I'd love something fresh, new, invigorating and exciting. Yeah, right! I've got about as much chance of getting that as I have of getting up on stage to duet with Mick.

In the week that Hackney Diamonds fell out of the Billboard Top Forty albums entirely - now at No. 83 and falling - there is no real incentive for the band to change the setlist in any significant way. There MIGHT be 3-4 HD songs at the first few concerts but that will change pretty quickly, and by the end of the tour it will probably be 1-2.

MAYBE the fact that HD is showing a bit of chart stickability here in the UK - still inside the Top Ten albums after five weeks - might earn some of its tracks greater representation on the setlists we get. But of course there may not be a tour over here until 2025, if at all. And even if there is, The Stones never really deviate much from what they play on stage in the US.

But, hey ho, we can dream...

Re: The Rolling Stones set list discussions

This time the tour is billed «Hackney Diamonds-tour». IMO, they're more confident with the material from HD than they've been with new songs for decades. My guess is that 4-5 HD-songs will be staples in the setlist.

Well a big Amen to that Mr DP. Here's hoping! I'm more pessimistic, but then maybe I'm just old and grumpy??

There certainly are plenty of potential set-list favourites on HD. Indeed the entire album would work live. But The Stones (meaning Mick) are notoriously conservative in set-list terms, and I cannot see them 'depriving' their Classic Rock radio-listening core-audience of all their usual favourites. And there are 17-18 tracks that could be said to fit into that category. We know them all by heart now...
