Full disclosure: I am a setlist whiner, I Think the Stones should give us 22 or 23 a night and more variety with the prices they charge.

That being said here are some total ripoff setlists and a few good ones from recent shows in the Boston mass area.

Joe Walsh: 13 songs when I saw him now averaging 11

Bad Company: average 14

Hall and Oates: average 14

Alice Cooper 22 to 24

Paul McCartney always gives you A lot, 39 the other night at Fenway park in Boston.

a few things.

-bad company isn't playing a show by themselves. they are playing about an hour and a half and joe walsh was opening and playing over an hour. you get almost 3 hours of music at that show from legends. also just 14 songs but bad company is busting out some deep cuts not just hits. they are playing "live for the music", "man needs woman", "crazy circles", "seagull", "see the sunlight", a few covers and lets not forget that they have a fill in lead guitarist for this tour. bad company for probably the last 5-6 years does short semi co headlining tours and only play about an hour and a half max.

-alice cooper is playing 22-24 songs but the show itself still runs close to 2 hours so not sure what the issue is here

Issues would be.

When I saw Joe Walsh at the Orpheum fall of 2015 he was all by himself 13 songs about 90 minutes. Twenty five of those minutes were stories.

Bad Company was the Headliner 150 dollar ticket should get you more than 14 songs.

Hall and Oates was was the headliner also same deal.

As far as time goes I would rather have an 8:20 version of Midnight Rambler instead of 12:01 and 7:31 version of CYHMK instead of 11:16 and play two more more nasty 4:00 songs

HELLO MR MICK JAGGER - CAN I PLEASE HAVE YOUR ATTENTION
Date: August 22, 2016 18:59

Its feels more than ever like the next round of concerts in the United States could very well be the last go around for us here in the United States.

I truly understand that when playing to the masses that most of the people there would be let down if the WAR HORSES were not played. So it goes without saying they will all be played.

But please MICK take into consideration that there are a select few in the crowd that have followed the ROLLING STONES for many many years. And have seen several shows from each tour.

I personally did three on the Zip Code Tour and at each concert I got a few different songs. And that is why I look forward to doing several shows each tour .

So all I am asking is please give us 24 songs this time. Play the War Horses like it is the last time, but also add in more than a few of those magic Stones songs.

Like Ruby Tuesday, Under MY Thumb, Respectable, etc. the list goes on and on.

Would be cool for Time is On My Side, Time Waits for No One, and This Could be the Last Time...and in that order.

Understand this MR JAGGER. For the most part most of the people in the audience are there for the party. Some still seeing the Stones for the first time and many just to say they did.

But there are also many of us there to feel the power of the Stones once again. We will be watching every move. Listing to every word and every note as if it truly is the very last time. It will be bitter sweet. So for those of us that have made the Rolling Stones a big part of our life. Please make these next few shows ones that that take our breath away one last time. Please give us many special songs not just a few.

PLEASE MICK give us the Song list that will blow us away.
OH AND ...THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

I think you may be disappointed.

If there is a new album to promote, the few rarer songs that have featured in recent set lists will be replaced by the new material, resulting in less diversity.

24 Songs is the Key. And I am pretty sure no new album before the October Dates.

I doubt very much there will be any announcement from Mick about the end of The Rolling Stones. It's not really in his nature to build a big circus around a 'Final Ever Stones Concert'. When it eventually does happen, and my guess is there is still plenty of fuel in the tank yet, i don't think any of us will know that it's been The Last Time. As Charlie has said on more than one occasion 'At this stage of our lives any gig could be the last one you just never know'. But announcing it beforehand? Nah i can't see it.

24 Songs is the Key.

If you're expecting 24 songs stop dreaming, we'll be lucky to keep the 19 songs setlist, most probably down to 18 from now on just like most of the South American dates.

It's a nice thought jumpontopofmebaby, but the Stones don't possess the spontaneity as a live act for your hope to be realised.

Everything in the live shows is carefully choreographed, including Jagger's scripted 'jokes'. No bad thing, I feel they give the majority of attendees at their concerts exactly what they want.

The only real opportunity for spontaneity comes from Richards and Wood. Jagger can't control them onstage and they can provide diversity and surprises within the context of a current Stones show.

Just don't expect the Stones to finish 'Satisfaction' and then decide on impulse to play an extra few minutes (they probably couldn't even if they wanted to on account of curfews, site policies, insurance, etc.) and launch into a second encore.

I am tellin ya Desert Trip is going to become the battle of the bands. And if they want to battle for the top spot. They had better bring at the very least 24 songs. Cause Neil and Paul will play that many or more.

The whole Pittsburgh/Satisfaction incident jumped into my head when I read that...

But no, I doubt the Stones will ever do 20/+ songs ever again, let alone at a festival with many there for either Neil, Paul, the Who, etc. In other words, it's not a bunch of fans out to say they saw the Stones. If anything, they'll only do War Horses at the October concert. While I do suppose it is a good marketing idea, it is a bit upsetting for us, the devoted fans.

Let's just face it- the number of tracks per concert has been steadily going down since 1989, which, in effect, lowers the probability of obscure or even new(!) songs of having a chance in the spotlight. I mean, just look at 2012's set lists for their 50th Anniversary and GRRR! compilation- they started off playing both of the new songs, but soon dropped down to one of the two. With a new album on the way, the best we can hope for is two songs from it until it becomes evident that it doesn't hold a candle to 'Satisfaction' or 'Miss You' or 'Start Me Up,' which, if we're being totally honest with ourselves here, I doubt Mick and Keith will ever come that close to hits again. The music industry will put the older classic acts on a pedestal when they go on tour or release a new album (especially compilation rehashes of last year's greatest hits album, minus or plus a few tracks), but once the single comes out, they'll simply say, "Well, it's not as good as songs A, B, C, or D..." and simply slide it off of the charts because of their age.

Do you remember the last time you heard the Stones played on your local 'hot' radio station? Neither do I. I'm sure that has, in part, to do with the musical genre (bottom line is that 'all the hip kids listen to pop/rap'), but also the singer and the subject manner. I remember asking one of my friends who is only a year older than me a few years ago why he won't even give the Stones a chance. His answer? "It's an old guy singing about having sex and taking Viagra". Not gonna lie, when he said that, I burst out laughing once he elaborated and nearly demanded/asked that I explain what 'Satisfaction' was about. He knew he song, just not that Mick was in his 20s when he wrote and released it...

Well, there's my rant, more or less explaining why your request, to me, is leaning more towards the implausible side of the spectrum. Am I wrong in my speculations? I hope so, but doubt it...

I'd be happy just switching out some greatest hits with hits you don't hear as much as you should. Ditch MISS YOU for BEAST, get rid of Angie for Waiting on a Friend, replace Paint it with Under my Thumb, put in AINT TO PROUD instead of IORR.

When Neil Young played New Orleans Jazzfest in May, he played 8 in more than two hours. It was non-stop noise jams.

I never understood why 24 songs are better than 20. They won't play for more than 2 hours anyway. The Stones play what they wanna play. If we get a few nuggets that's a bonus. I certainly hope so, but at this stage in their career I bet they mainly focus on playing what sounds good..

Yeah, with 7-8 new songs on most shows. But that was an exception. 1978 and perhaps 1981/82 (many TY and two ER songs) were the only tours with MUCH new material. With 1989 close (several SW tracks and two DW). These days are over. If we're lucky they play 2-3 new ones in October. That's enough blues.
