new tour, updated setlist/include Bob
Posted by: sundevil ()
Date: June 12, 2016 22:23

it's been more or less the same setlist since the 2013 US tour. if they return to NYC, chicago, boston some songs need to be dropped, some added.

drop: only rock n roll, add: live with me. drop: wild horses, add: ruby tuesday/love in vain/beast of burden. drop: gimmie shelter (i know/unpossilbe/no sasha) add: street fighting. drop: tumblin' dice, add: can't you hear me knocking.

add: respectable/imagination into the set. keep: outta control.

they're playing with Bob in calif. but instead of like a rolling stone? shelter from the storm!

Seeing how they really can't preform Street Fighting man,Ruby Tuesday, or can't you hear me knocking very well I am totally against you ideas.

I would love to see Love In Vain though.

I agree. Since seeing them multiple times in 2013 and 2015 it is getting stale setlist wise. Really could use a deeper dive into their chest of goodies. I don't mean rarities for gosh sakes just a fresher setlist.

I don't know how BV does it, ear fatigue has to set in at some point.

Thanks,

Mike

The Hyde-Park-rendition of SFM was marvelous and I think they could easily do a great version of CYHMK, but Mick feels helpless during the long instrumental part...

SFM and RT were both great at Hyde Park, and CYHMK was great on Sticky Fingers Live. They should definitely do these tunes more often.

Any chance of a 3-4 song "unplugged" set since Totally Stripped just got released?

They can drop Midnight Rambler and that will open a lot of space for a mini unplugged set.

I wouldn't expect too many changes but I feel they need to change the opener. Street Fighting Man seems like a safe choice. IORR in the 2 hole has gotten stale also. Ruby Tuesday and 19th Nervous Breakdown would be nice additions. Maybe addsoemthing a bit rare like Undercover of the Night or Some Girls to the every night set.

Maybe something like this"

SFM
Tumbling Dice
Ruby Tuesday
19th Nervous Breakdown/LWM/ADTL/TLT (rotating Songs in this spot)
Undercover of the Night
Song Vote
HTW
Keith Song 1
Keith Song 2

Unplugged set of 4 songs
Angie
Sweet Virginia
Dead Flowers
4th unplugged song being a different one each night

Start Me Up
Brown Sugar
Sympathy for the Devil
JJF

Encore:
TCAGWYW
Satisfaction

In all 15 Rolling Stones concerts, that I saw; Brown Sugar was the song before Encore. I do not think, they will change that!

I hope they remove 'Honky Tonk Woman' & 'Sympathy For The Devil' & 'Tumbling Dice' from their setlist. And put 'She Was Hot' & "She Is So Cold' on.

the coachella shows are huge so you'll see the mainstream setlist but hopefully the rest of the tour will have 3 or 4 new songs.

the record will probably only have about 3 or 4 good songs on it so if we're lucky those will get played at least.

i've never complained about the setlist before and always thought it was stupid when other people did but at this point even i'm thinking these guys need some new material-badly.

As beautiful as it is with the local choirs I think TCAGWYW has definitely worn out it's welcome in the encore.

I have said it before and I say it again, they should bring Street Fighting Man in the setlist. Would be a great opener to alter with JJF and SMU. It is too good live to be left out.

Setlist Whiners : Good and bad numbers.

Full disclosure: I am a setlist whiner, I Think the Stones should give us 22 or 23 a night and more variety with the prices they charge.

That being said here are some total ripoff setlists and a few good ones from recent shows in the Boston mass area.

Joe Walsh: 13 songs when I saw him now averaging 11

Bad Company: average 14

Hall and Oates: average 14

Alice Cooper 22 to 24

Paul McCartney always gives you A lot, 39 the other night at Fenway park in Boston.

That means shorter songs, though..

Setlist whiner: Wouldn't that be a good title for a song? Paul Simon recently released a song with the name "Wristband"...

nothing wrong with shorter songs and more variety.

do we need a concert to last 120 minutes of 19 songs, which is just over 6mins per song average, or could we do 30 songs at 4mins average.

the stones should be able to do much more with the back catalogue they have.

even in the 70,s when they had over 200 songs to choose from they tended to stick to the same 17 every night. almost forgetting they existed from 1963-67.

the stones are the greatest ever but one major disapointment and failing is the lack of a more imaginative setlist and this problem has been around for years.

Personally, I feel setlists should be randomly generated on a real time basis. Neither the Stones nor the audience should have any idea what the next song is. The entire catalogue up to say 1985 would have to be rehearsed (or not, they could just wing it I suppose) and a few Beatles tunes could be thrown in now and then to really keep them on their toes. Those are my terms for paying to see them again.
