USA has a real good shot

At what?

We have a norwegian in the US team, (so I feel obliged to root for them smiling smiley ), but seriously I can't see them go very far. They should be very happy reaching the quarter finals, imo.

Do you have a good shot at naming one player on the USA team ? that would be a DONE DEAL !! You do know Pele does not play for the Cosmos anymore?

Let's see, Bradley, Brooks, Dempsey. What about Chinaglia? is he still on the team?

...and Klinsmann left out Landon Donovan; a crucial mistake.

Hey DandelionPowderman - quarter finals would be brilliant for anybody, except just a few usual suspects who just have to be in the semies... Brazil, Germany, Argentina, Italy maybe...

Don't know about Italy this time round but they are like Germany and grow through a tournament so you never know.

If anybody has watched France's games lately, you'll find that they will be very strong contenders for the title this time.

Although Norway and Jamaica aren't very good football teams, they very rarely loses 0-4 and 0-8, like they did to France.

In both pre-WC matches France could have won 15 or 20-0. They were scarily good.

yes I agree with you for the games against Norway and Jamaica.
But for the tournament, we lost Ribéry. I think it's a huge loss for the team.
So I'm not as otpimist as you

I believe that the semi finals will be played by Brazil, Germany, Argentina, Spain
and we should also count with the Netherlands

I hope we beat Spain tomorrow, although the Dutch team will have a big task at hand.

No European team has ever won the World Cup in South America if I remember correctly. I reckon Uruguay will go far, because their base is solid and they have two fantastic strikers in Suarez en el Matador Cavani. Both Argentina and Brazil are favorites, but Argentina has a rather weak defense and Brazil has a rather weak front line.

Italy are the outsiders for me as they are tournament specialists.

Leaving Donovan off the US squad was a good move. he is there in reserve if someone comes up injured. Landon is an older guy, that is well past his prime. His experience counts for something, but he has lost a step or two and at this level you need fast guys that can keep pace. Klinsman is I believe an excellent sudent of the game. Never mind he was a fantastic player. He knows knows what it takes to win at this level. The US team will need some luck for sure to escape the "group of death". Key is to beat Ghana next week out of the gate. No easy task, but if the Americans play well they can win that game. Since Ghana knocked them out of the last 2 championships, the US have an axe to grind with that team. Pity the USa drew this group because I think this is a better team than the one they fielded 4 years ago. Someone up front has to have a huge tournament and raise their game if the USA is win anything in Brazil.

Ribery is a bit overrated, imo. He's a great player, of course, but the way the french team walzed over Norway, a team that not long ago beat Germany away, looked very promising (and Ribery didn't play)

Guess he thought the defender had taken Fred down, what with his hands on his shoulders, eh ? He really should have known better than to do that. Oh well, let's remember what that Croatian guy did to Laurent Blanc in the 98 semi-final, has to be in the TOP 5 of the worst acting on a football pitch.

Need to check my prediction but I think I'm doing good so far, is there a "live" ranking ? ;-) Let's see...Oops, no, wow some dudes predicted a 6-5 score, hehe...
