Good to read they finished with wont get fooled again.

At the Brum gig and i think most gigs they have done, i think they mostly finished with magic bus.

How was Wilko last night?

I have only ever seen him once, it was ages ago at the Half Moon in Putney, and I was a little underwhelmed. Yesterday, I was gobsmacked. Fantastic material, wonderfully played, lovely strong voice, I was quite honestly staggered. Would NOW unquestionably see him again

That's good to hear Paul. I saw him supporting the Quo at Hammersmith last year on their 'Frantic Four' tour and he was belting out all the Feelgood classics. Hard to believe he was in such good voice in fact!

"The Who brought their 50th anniversary tour to London's Royal Albert Hall last night (March 26) as part of the Teenage Cancer Trust Concert gigs.
(...)

They went on to perform 'My Generation', 'Behind Blue Eyes', 'You Better You Bet' and the nine minute medley 'A Quick One (While He's Away)' which saw Townshend pay tribute to late and former member of The Rolling Stones, Brian Jones.

"The first time we played this song we were playing with The Stones and Brian Jones was in a pretty shitty state," he said. "We were playing on the stage with The Stones until we were the only ones left in the room that night by the end. We stayed with him until four in the morning and got rat arsed."

How many tours have the Who used (Can't explain) as the opening#. I have seen them about 10 times starting @ Boston garden 1976 and it seems like most times they have opened with that.

They do indeed use it a lot ... and for good reason I guess. It works a treat, a classic opener !!

There was the interesting recent interview in Rolling Stone with Daltry. Seems he does the set lists, and always picks Can't Explain. Their first big hit and breakthrough. He had an interesting comment about how singing it now is still a poignant reminder about all the things an aging Mod still can't explain.

Daltery? Daltry? He tries.. the set list will evolve every night this year (except for the opening song)! This Tour will reach well into next year so no territory has been set aside as 'out'

Hello,

Well, that was quite a weekend, hah-hah! Wilko, Dylan and Norman were outstanding yet again as a warm-up for Peter, Rog and their supporting musicians.

Here are a few to be getting on with...excuse my inability to judge exposure, please!

And it was a real delight to have this old chestnut dusted-down...

If that is my final Who show then I honestly couldn't have asked for a more fun way to close the account. Thanks for everything chaps!

Cheers,

Simon.

I'm going to Louisville in May to see the Who for the first time. And then the Rolling Stones in Nashville in June for the last time. About the best one-two punch there is!

They used to open with Heaven and Hell quite a bit in the late 60's early 70's...

Between the two 02 gigs I had the great fortune to meet Frank Simes. He graciously answered my questions about touring with the Who at great length, full transcript here:

If you would sooner read the edited version, scheduled to appear in the next edition of Bucketfull of Brains magazine then go here

You will note that Frank confirmed that postings on the who.com have helped influence what songs the Who play on tour...

Agree, Magic Bus seems like a real buzzkill as the last song after Won't Get Fooled Again. Kind of surprised they're even doing it as Townshend has ridiculed the song many times in the past (although he ridicules a lot of things!).

I got tickets for Seattle in September. Was shocked at the quality of seats still available. The Key Arena in Seattle is small for an arena. I got 2 tickets 4th row upper level halfway back from the stage for $100 each. & that includes ticketbastard charges! Long way off but looking forward to the show.

We have tickets to see them in Miami next Friday night, I can't wait! This will be a bookend experience for me too, I first saw them in Orlando in '67 so this should wrap up my lifelong journey of seeing The Who live!smiling smiley
