OT: Breaking Bad
Posted by: Sighunt ()

In reference to a couple posts that noted that Bryan Cranston is in the new Godzilla movie, how many Breaking Bad fans do we have on this site? This guy is quite an actor. I ordered Netflix several months ago which (now) carries all seasons of this show. I have to say that there has been no other show on television recently that has grabbed my attention like this show. I was hooked from the first episode. The writing, story-lines, and characters were simply top notch and kept my interest through 6 seasons. I will argue that this series was in the top 10 of best drama series ever produced.

It's brilliant but really heavy and i haven't managed beyond the end of season 2 because it's just too much. I would give it 10/10 and hope that i won't be so freaked out by real life in future that i'll be able to watch the last 3 seasons. Until then it's vampire porn for me ie. True Blood

Agreed... Though I am still on season 1... Totally loving it.

Loved the first two seasons, then it got really too heavy and violent for my tastes... I'm HOOKED on the ABC-TV series "Resurrected" right now, first time in AGES an alphabet TV channel has caught my attention

I missed Breaking Bad when it was first shown on AMC I think it was. so I heard about it without seeing it, then I avoided discussion and especially anything about the finale, because I knew I'd watch the whole thing sooner or later.

but I was unprepared for how good it is, and streaming it on Netflix is ideal for this show. Its amazing in all aspects, writing, cinematography, casting, acting..even the music is cool. love that its set in New Mexico too.

I binge-watched the whole series in about three weeks this past winter.

It's pretty astounding, isn't it?

Though for those who are just a season or two into it... hold on to your socks because they're about to get blown off. The second half of the series might be the best television I've ever seen. And the first half is no slouch, either.

Same as you two guys^^. I watched the whole thing in January over the course of about a week, having realized I'd never be able to watch it on a regular basis when it was originally broadcast. What I loved was the way the whole situation was basically set up in the first episode, and then it became a case of how it would all play out. Absolutely brilliant storytelling, when you think that the fundamental plot was actually very simple. Terrific cast, too.

*Outstanding* series. I never watched it, despite a friend's regular urging, as it sounded soooo very unpromising when he told me the premise (teacher gets cancer and decides to sell drugs to provide for his family). I thought it would be tedious and really saccharine - ha ha ha! How wrong could I be?! Many months later (by then it must have been into the final series on TV), I decided to give the pilot a try after more urgings and and was instantly hooked. Can't remember anything better and can't imagine anything that could beat it. Bryan Cranston is just superb but then most of the cast are terrific, too. I really had no idea what I was missing.

You summed it up well. Besides Bryan Cranston (all the characters are very memorable in this series, and as far as acting, there really isn't a slouch in the bunch), my favs on the show are Aaron Paul, Dean Norris and Jonathan Banks (who played "the enforcer" Mike from season 3-5).

It's on my Netflix list.

House of Cards is my favourite...it this is better than House of Cards I will fall off my chair.

One more season to go...for the past six months. It is amazing in all the ways already said here, but I haven't been in a hurry to finish it. Busy, for one thing, but I'm with gripweed on the heaviness. I'll finish it up this summer, but I think I want something with some laughs for the next Netflix go around.

Agree 100% Sighunt and I'm still waiting for tv to come out with anything even close. Did you get into Deadwood when it aired? Great series if you don't mind the old west era and lot's of bad language, lol. In my opinion BB and Deadwood are the two best thing's ever to be seen on television and I'd be hard pressed to choose between the two.

BB perhaps my favorite show ever. Try HBO's True Detective. It's VERY good. An instant top 5 for me. Some of the best acting you'll see from Mathew McCaunnahey and Woody Harrelson.

I wish we could talk about favorite BB scenes without the risk of spoilers, but as I hate people who issue spoilers I will refrain. (Except to say that the Star Trek scenario wasn't a key scene in any way but it's probably the one I've replayed most often. grinning smiley )

I didn't think I could become hooked on TV series anymore, haven't been that since the mid 90s, but Breaking Bad got me hooked, I got through all six seasons in about month, it's terrific. Had to get the DVDs after seeing the first season

Agreed. I haven't been into TV series in a very long time, but winter was long this year and netflix removed the commercials and week long waits. BB was outstanding. Wife and I watched whole thing twice in row. Certainly in discussion of best tv drama ever.

Certainly one of the best shows that has been on TV. I really enjoy "Justified", also.

Stones connection! from the finale party? imagine..Stones guitarists both big fans of your work..

thanks for this thread..careful though so we avoid any spoiler comments ..

what a show, been digging interviews with the actors too, lots on youtube..someone mentioned 'Deadwood', that's another one I missed first time ...

Skylar (Anna Gunn) in that, so a Breaking Bad connection. the other main actors, I don't think I'd seen anywhere, until BB..just made it the more amazing for me..even Cranston, as I hardly ever watched Seinfeld, and had never seen Malcolm In The Middle..
