For those who have experience with USA Lucky Dips:

What time could you get your Lucky Dip tickets on showday??

Quite important for me because if you would get a GA standing with this Lucky Dip option at 7 PM showday, you would be the last one on the pitch with many peaple in front of you..

i got one pair for each of three arena shows i went to in california: los angeles opening, oakland and san jose. i did really well and got lower level tix for LA and oakland and the pit for SJ. other friends wound up in the rafters. i never went to pick them up before 7pm. and when i got pit tickets, it was probably around 7:30 pm.

you go to a special entrance where are tables with people handing out tickets. the tickets are all in envelopes. you tell the person at the table your name and show ID, someone else checks your name against a list. if your name is on the list, you are told to step aside and eventually someone comes over and gives you tickets, wristbands you and escorts you into the venue. if your name isn't on the list, they just hand you whatever tickets are on top.

it might work somewhat differently for the big stadium shows.

I'll be trying to score tix for Dusseldorf as already managed to get Stehplatz for Berlin, which should offer damn good view of the band. Can you tell us, based on the US tour experience, is it hard to score those tickets (do they sell out instantly) or it's possible to book them once you log in when the sale begins?

It was done differently at every show. In Philly & Boston you could get the tickets at the special ticket setup and still go outside. In Philly they gave you tickets that were already scanned so you could keep bringing people inside by just transferring the paper wristband.

this was a brand new idea when i got my tickets so they were pretty easy to get and stayed on sale for quite a while. now, everyone knows about them so it will probably be more difficult. if you *really* have to have a place in a certain area, i'd buy on the secondary market or wait until the fire sale in the days before the show. good luck!

A rather silly question as regards Rome, just in case. 
As there are only two categories of the areas in the venue, Pit and GA standing, will a purchaser of a Lucky Dip ticket be allocated in either of them? If you (unfortunately) hit the GA, can you be anywhere you want in that area, as far as there is space, unlike a seated stadium or arena in other cities? I mean, no "rafter allocation" in Circo Massimo with a LD ticket in the worst scenario, technically?

I gotta a sillier question.

Just tried, was able to buy 2 tickets for Paris, but I'm not going to Paris so I cancelled. Would feel somewhat risky to be travelling a long way to a concert and find out you're in the nosebleeders - but the price is real decent, though

very easy, could have had all shows open for Lucky Dips. I never got that far during the US sales. Anyway, I hope that all who still needed tickets will score one.

Shame Erik, it would have been nice to have met up again in Paris.

I could have got two lucky dips but did not take the gamble < already have two > and was not sure if i could have sold mine on.
