I don't speak Dutch, but from what I get it's just about the Stones' "potential" show at Pinkpop. Nothing new I guess.

I think it´s june 7th - there aren´t many bands on this day, also there´s no real headliner for june 7th. So I think the Stones are the biggest band on that day.

okay, I've been following the 'Stones - Pinkpop' news now constantly for 3 days now. I've been refreshing my twitter searches every 10 minutes or so, not so productive at work, these days. What I concluded (as we already knew of course) is that Holland is really obsessed with the Stones. What started with an innocent telephone call on the radio tuesday morning, has now developed to a national, news topic. Big advertisements in newspapers, radio stations calling Pinkpop boss Jan Smeets 3 times a day (!), twitter is exploding, etc etc. The whole country is screaming for it to happen! The disappointment will be so big when it's NOT gonna happen. Really hoping this will come true. Anyway, this is what I picked up the last days:
- Negotiations between Pinkpop mngm and Stones management are done. Deal is closed. they agreed on date (7th june), money and conditions.
- Stones management said that within 48 hours they would give confirmation. This period already passed since this morning
- Pinkpop deal is part of a bigger negotiation (according to Smeets). Other festivals / venues are waiting on an answer too.
- As Smeets said: Stones have to give approval themselves. Only reason why it could go wrong is that the Stones don't feel like touring Europe in this period (or at all!), so there is a possibility that the schedule moves to mid summer or so. Then other offers will be looked at.

When this all is going to happen, Pinkpop will be a sellout within 15 minutes. The demand is soooo big here. I say: let's give Holland 2 (or three) concerts, 1 at Pinkpop and another one in the Ziggo dome.


Question to Bjornulf: what do you know about the European negotiations? What are the chances of the Stones appear on Pinkpop? Any ideas?

I think Pinkpop is playing poker. They have a pair of kings and they hope nobody will show up with the aces. Either way, they will for sure perform in both The Netherlands and Germany and France this summer, Brussels too I hope, so I don't worry too much about what offer they have on the table and what crowd and offer that seems to be the most interesting for the band. It is a big puzzle. Stage, transportation, small tongue pit stage, larger stadium stage in between lots of planning, if you don't get a festival or a stadium show then you get the tongue pit stage at double price and half the crowd size. Whatever is the best.

Some days ago, I remember reading a post Bobby Keys published on his facebook page, about his trip to join the band, and now the post is deleted. Today on their facebook page, the Stones announced the touring band, which doesn't includes Tim Ries and Bobby Keys. What happened?

I think the Stones will come to Pinkpop - there´s the chance to get attention from a younger crowd. Also the dates of Pinkpop are problably while the Europe Tour 2014 - so why don´t pay a visit to Pinkpop? ;-)

I did see The Stones perform at Landgraaf in 1995, it was a long day but worth it, I got as close as 7 meters from the stage!
