Oh boy, here we go again! I seriously can't believe half of the names they actually write down to be part of this idiotic Hall, but at least it leads to an interesting discussion each year. By the way, this is just the preliminary round. They'll choose about 6 of these people. IMO, it looks like we're just inducting anyone now:

-Paul Butterfield Blues Band: I guess thats acceptable, although HOF worthy? They're no Stones.

-Chic: IMO just a big no

-Deep Purple: Absolutely a yes. Long overdue and I think they won't be able to avoid getting them in this year.

-Peter Gabriel: Fine solo career but should only be in for Genesis. Have we really stooped to Peter's solo career?

-Hall & Oates: They are seriously on the ballot and I could not stop laughing.

-KISS: Same as Deep Purple. Whether you like them or not, they are one of the better ones on the ballot and deserve to be in.

-LL Cool J: Ugh.

-The Meters: Maybe. I'd say no.

-Nirvana: They are as good as in and that is so sad.

-NWA: Ugh.

-The Replacements: A fine band but not a rock and roll hall of fame band.

-Linda Ronstadt: I wouldn't consider her, but she's one of the better on this ballot.

-Cat Stevens: Yeah maybe, if this is who we're inducting. He would be deserving I guess.

-Link Wray: I guess, although hard to tell.

-Yes: Not a big fan, but they make sense and I could see and agree with their induction.

-The Zombies: I love the Zombies, and I don't think they are worthy, but as a fan it would be cool to see them go in, although I doubt it.

My 6 picks would be Deep Purple, KISS, Yes, Zombies, Cat Stevens, Link Wray. One of the last two could be replaced by Linda as well.

Although I expect it'll be Deep Purple, Peter Gabriel, Nirvana, Yes, NWA and maybe KISS.

Maybe to Cat Stevens and NO to the Meters???

I just don't think they are influential enough. But hey, I guess thats why these lists spark debate. One person sees it obviously one way and someone else sees it exactly the opposite. Not trying to put anyone down on the list, but looking at it from the view of success and influential I think they are kind of scraping the bottom of the barrel.

The only one that I have no qualms about is Nirvana. Have to think about the others. All 3 Nirvana records still sound vital & fresh today. I was right in the middle of the grunge explosion & it was a big part of my life. I really miss Kurt. Think he had a lot more to offer.

D'oh! You got me. If you had said World Series championship I would have to agree. I'm still feeling pretty good about my Seahawks this year. Tomorrow night could be tricky but I think the Rams are going to have some nasty surprises a week from Monday. Lots of guys coming back from injury with a bunch of extra practice time before the game. We shall see my friend.

If the Rock n Roll Hole of Lame were worth anything in reality, then Link Wray would have been inducted in its first year of existence, because without Link Wray no Pete Townshend and no Dave Davies--that is to say, it was Link who played that stuff a full decade before they did and was playing electric slash chords when Pete was first joining the Detours as an acoustic rhythm guitarist.

But the Bowl of Tame has really only been a popularity contest rather than a history lesson--much like the magazine Yawn Weener founded.

None of the prog bands were all the rage throughout the '70s are in. Yes would be the first of that ilk. For better or worse, they're the most deserving.

I wouldn't go with Peter Gabriel for his solo work as a protest because he hasn't made a new album in 11 years and shows no signs of making one. In 38 years since he left Genesis, he has made only seven song-oriented studio albums (I-IV, So, Us, and Up). Yes, there have been a bunch of soundtracks and live CDs, but really.

Kiss: no way in hell. Terrible music that happened to make a lot of money.

but if i have to say something about this list:
Deep Purple absolutely yes. it's a shame they are not in yet.
Nirvana yes. don't love them too much, but their album are considered among top of 90's .
these 2 bands deserve without a doubt to be in
regarding all the rest, in my opinion , it is a matter of personal taste.
don't love too much kiss or gabriel, but they can be good. I like Replacements but honestly the hall of fame is too much.

Personally 'I d love willy deville to be in the hall of fame, but i don't know if he will be part of it, don' think so.
