After listening to Trouble it seems Keith still knows how to write songs...

i liked it. its really got something catchy about it.

On first listen it really goes nowhere. Like OMS.

Similar "structure" indeed, it reminds me a bit of Eileen and of "You Got it Made", now where's the guy who's been posting repeatedly about that song being on the album ? ;-)

Best part is the voice, sounds very much like Keith in the 70s, like the Soul Survivor outtake from Exile Deluxe...

nice to hear Keith can still make a jaunty, poppy tune. Only heard it once so far, but I'm looking forward to playing it again. with OMS, one listen was (more than) enough.

Maybe it's a grower...I hope so because on the initial two listens I'm very disappointed. It's all a bit formulaic and the song itself doesn't seem to be well crafted. On the positives, his vocals are excellent and it's great to hear him singing so well, but I had hoped for better after all these years putting together this album. Ronnie, for me, is a better song writer these days, but I'm sure I will find other songs on the album that I love.

I agree with you.
First time I heard Doom & Gloom I wanted to play it again and again and again, day in day out. Can't see that happening with Trouble alas.

On my fourth listen and it sounds like....Keith. smiling smiley
He for sure is in fine voice and the guitars are sweet. A nice, catchy tune and it has grown on me with each listen. The ending makes me wish for an acoustic version. Can't wait to hear the rest of the album.

I love the acoustic ending

Yeah that's beautiful isn't it! And those "hurry up" chords he likes to throw in here and there -
very Keithly! Hear him for a thousand miles :E

+1000

very good intro single to the album. that electric/acoustic guitar blend which is so important to what is called the "Stonesy" sound.

Thanks Beast for the link to this tune. Listening to new Keith brought a definite smile to my face this morning. The song has got such pop sensibilities I'm not entirely sure what to think yet except Keith has probably been hanging around his daughters quite a bit.

It's definitely got a happy feel to it, kind of reminds me of a song Bonnie Raitt would do or something. A bit of a disconnect between the words and the general feel of the song, I had to go back and listen to see if he was singing to/about his grandkids or something.

I'm digging it unreservedly. "That's because, honey, you're doing 2 to 4": Keith's writing to a chick in jail. What is not to love about that?!

Where did you guys hear 'Trouble'? Radio?

I heard it here [www.989kkzx.com] using a clunky computer, no special downloads, apps or services

probably OK to post a link to it on every page so people dont have to go back back back

It very much has a 1990s Keith vibe to it. Similar to "Eileen" and "Too Tight." I don't consider it classic in the sense of EXILE or anything, but it is a welcome return to form for Keith and more to my liking than what I've heard in ages now.

Taking Rockman's advice: currently on my third play. I will say that the Facebook version has better and clearer sound than the Radio 2 replay.

Sorry but you have got to be kidding. Just played it for the 4th time and its a great single. Doom and bloody gloom .
The man is 72 this year !!! any other artist near that age coming up with better ???
I do think the album may have what your looking for, but for a single its a winner !!!

So if he can write like this it's clear he hasn't lost his songwriting talent. So, that knocks that out as a reason for there being no Stones album since 2005.

Yes i was thinking the same. people were saying he has writers block etc.
It really does seem that a more straight keith is paying off in many ways.

I love Keith, and I will give this a chance to grow on me, but the first few listens this sounds like he plugged a bunch of pieces of other solo and Stones songs into the Stones-a-tron 2000 and it spit this out. I hear Eileen, the drum beat doesn't sound like it fits the song, and the end is a complete rip off of Too Tight from Brides to Babylon.
