Trouble

Just because you find yourself off the streets again
That don’t mean that I can't help you or I ain't your friend (fixed per GL)

Baby trouble is your middle name
Your trouble is that that’s your game

Now you are out of circulation out of reach and out of touch
Let me keep you in the loop though I can’t tell you much

Baby trouble is your middle name
The trouble is that that’s your game

Just because I can’t see you see you anymore
That’s because honey you’re doing 2-4

Baby trouble is your middle name
The trouble is that that’s your game

Even though you are still inside I could get you off the hook
But I know if I get you out I won’t get a second look

Baby trouble is your middle name
The trouble is that that’s your game

Too much trouble
Too much trouble

If I´m not completely wrong informed, the new album consists mainly of tracks laid down over the past 20 years or so. This album isn´t a NEW record and the song Trouble could very well be recorded way back in the 90ies, who knows? Keith won´t tell anybody which song was recorded when, because it will be promoted as a NEW album and not as a bag of left-overs from the past.

And for the song Trouble: This piece of music ist very, very under-average in every way. It touches me not at all, so to me this song is simply unnecessary. To be honest, I´m disapointed. This is nothing but a "listen-to-it-three-times-and-then-forget-it-for-all-times"-Song.

Hope the album will include a few better tunes than that one.

When I wrote an apologia pro Mick a few years ago, I speculated that Keith wasn't all that interested in writing rock songs anymore. That he was trending in the same oddball direction as Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen. On the evidence of that Uncut review, it sounds like "Substantial Damage" is along those lines.

But "Trouble" indicates that he's got a song like this in his back pocket *at all times.*

Great to hear it.

The song has got such pop sensibilities I'm not entirely sure what to think yet except Keith has probably been hanging around his daughters quite a bit.

Yeah, it's a pop song, not rock and roll, IMO. Not judging, just sayin'.

I like it too...Its only rock and roll and that's why I love it.

Lets wait until we hear the entire album. But this
release is better than most rocks songs cut in the last few years.

Its a great STONES track.

it's a great song!

All due respect, but really?! A great song? Of course it's exciting to hear a Keith solo thing at this stage - especially with sublime support from Steve Jordan and Waddy Watchel - and granted, the sound of it is great. But as a song, it's non-existent. 'It means a lot' from Talk is Cheap is like River Deep and Mountain High in comparison.

Welcome back Keith! Great song. Sounds analog and from tape [don't know, but it sounds that way) That is a good thing. Even if it cut digital.. It just sounds good!!

Warm, with air, I like the acoustic guitar underneath, I like the guitar parts from Waddy Wachtel.

Rock and Roll! Real music, recorded in a proper studio. Can't wait for the rest.

Best Stones song since Bridges.

Like it, good riff, good singing, solos so-so.

Waddy Wachtel excellent as always.

If Trouble is "great" what would you call Gimme Shelter? Come on, folks.

This isn´t a great song imho, sorry to say that. I like every single song on Main Offender and Talk Is Cheap better than that one. Well, it´s the first "new" Keith-Song in ages, and that maybe exciting, but besides this, few people would notice this song at all. It´s a filler. ...and it´s stitched together from old ideas from at least four or five Stones-Songs... I wonder when this song was really recorded, i guess it´s been on the shelf for years. I don´t think that is a 2015-recording.

Double entendre, alliteration and metaphor keep showing up in Keith's lyrics toolbox. we could hold a class.

I think it's the best song Keith has done since As Tears Go By.

C'mon, no one's expecting Gimme Shelter.

And the song is hardly amorphous like It Means A Lot. There's a conventional verse-chorus structure, a repeated intro, and a vocal interlude thing that acts like a bridge and ending.

It sounds like four or five Stones songs, because, let's face it, most of them do.

It doesn't break new ground. It's not "cutting edge." But it's a solid effort and a welcome return of a Winos sound that I didn't realize I missed so much.

What a great timing for me to finally register on this nice board after being a silent reader for a while. Last Saturday a friend was at the show in Buffalo and due to him (sending me updates) and you all here I was indeed following that show via periscope while the birds at some point started to join in with their singing. That was a magic experience, thank you all here!!

Love this first Trouble we could hear today, just how good does Keith's voice sound?!?! Very excited to hear the whole deal.

To get back to the quote above: where exactly do I find it? I kept on looking but maybe I'm just blind. TIA!

The warm sound of the track is so Keithly
but the vocal phrasing somehow isn't typical for Keith.
It does have a pop feel to it, and it's a good summer release

That acoustic ending has me glowin like a fool. Again. Thank you Keith!

I agree with some of the above posters.
Glad to see Keith doing a solo project, but this is hardly great.
For those who live in America and are sports fans, this reminds me of Willie Mays winding down his career with the New York Mets. Or Joe Montana playing for the Kansas City Chiefs.

...due to Mick's voice and his awful 'na-na-na-na'! OMS would be a good song...played by Winos.

If it is not going to be Ronnie, then I like hearing Waddy playing with Keith, they are a good fit.
