The Steel Wheels album would have been a great one if Wandering Spirit and Talk is Cheap had not been created prior.

Wandering Spirit was released in 1993, which is after 1989 (Steel Wheels), not prior to.

That's how its done folks...cold hard fact

I hate people who cloud issues with facts.

get off his cloud issues

It's clear to me now that my post was read.

I'm starting to actually feel bad about being such a dick here.

Just listen to that mahanamahana song twice daily and you will do fine.smileys with beer

Ladie's and Gents - this is why I've always loved Max!
grinning smiley And we love you too ! mahanahana

See what we had here...was a failyah to communicate. This led to some nasty feelings. Fortunately this seems to have subsided.

Unfortunately, it's turned into a bit of a love fest, and that is infinitely worse.

Can't we all just not get along?

Ah come on treacles...

As Smashmouth (know it was a cover) sang Why Can't We Be Friends, Why Can't We Be Friends, Why Can't We Be Friends, Why Can't We--eeee Be Friends? So how about it? smileys with beer

• The Stones true Golden era ended when Brian Jones died.

• As much as I hate the term the Stones "Vegas era" started in 1972.

• Exile is just ok there are least a dozen Stones albums that are way better.

• IMHO Taylor is vastly overrated guitarist -others may strongly disagree and that's ok.

• The Stones did some great shows early in the 2005 ABB tour.

• Emotional Rescue and Anybody Seen My Baby are great songs and are prime examples of the Stones creativity and willingness to go outside the box.

• Stones tour is the life force of this board.

• 1981 was their best tour (OK, maybe not the first gigswinking smiley)
• Mick Taylor onstage with them now ruins the sound (Midnight Rambler), and I'd rather he wasn't there
• Bridges to Babylon and Bigger Bang are much better than Goats Head Soup and IORR (in fact, last three albums are way better than the mid-70s trilogy)
• Dirty Work is flawed but still very good
• Goats Head Soup is mostly a drag ("Silver Train" unoriginal and repetitive replay of "All Down the Line", "Hide Your Love" pure filler, etc.)
• "You Gotta Move" is inauthentic and boring: stick with Prodigal Son and Love in Vain for Stones reworking classic blues songs
• Sticky Fingers is not among the Stones' 4 or 5 best albums, and Sister Morphine sucks
• "Streets of Love" is not great but OK
• For all of his work with the Stones (five tours and hundreds of concerts), Darryl Jones deserves to be there rather than Wyman
• "Anybody Seen My Baby" and "Saint of Me" are among the Stones' very best since Tattoo You
• Voodoo Lounge Tour sounded way better than Steel Wheels Tour (worst sounding Stones tour ever), Babylon was even better, Licks was even better than that, and Bigger Bang Tour was equal of Licks (at least 'til 07)
• "Start Me Up" never gets old: the studio version is the best single piece of music ever recorded by anyone from the first to the last micro-second
• "Sympathy for the Devil" live always sucks
• "Come On" is great, "I Wanna Be Your Man" not

Do Beatle fans treat the Beatles like some "fans" bash The Stones?

I think Robert Johnson actually did Love In Vain better

I'm sure they would if The Beatles were still together today after having made sup-par records since 1986.

Recall that Macca was bashed by critics and fans alike for years for releasing supposedly mediocre albums. Ram was supposed to have been the worst album in history, but now, of course, it's viewed as a great release yielding a treasure trove of underrated gems.

there is no comparison between these two bands. and i don't mean that as a slight on either one.

The Beatles only made records for 8 years give or take, hardly toured yet they still remain the bench mark and overshadow the Stones, probably always will.

I am glad other people think that as well! Ronnie was writing songs (one of the reasons MT said he left) and calling his own shots in the Faces. I saw him a few times with the Faces and Ronnie was absolutely great. He still is but has to play within the confines of what is written by Mick and Keith. sigh. Listen to "Debris" by the Faces. You'll see what I mean.
