I'm not sure why everyone is pumped up about mega festivals, these places are even worse than stadiums to catch a show right? I mean if it pumps up their ego to play Glastonbury enough to play other shows, fine, but that's it.

@bv - yeah they're old, but they've always maintained the illusion that they weren't, look at Mick at the Trabendo or the O2, he behaved like he was about 35...or less! Also they said, at least Mick did that they would never announce a farewell tour...I think that's why everyone has a hard time coming to terms with the fact that it's going to stop sooner rather than later...

Festivals are the worst. Never again.

I had a great, great time at the US Festival 1982. I was younger then. Don't think I can do a 3 day event again where it's over 100 degrees each day and trying to get some sleep at night in my station wagon.

These were cool line-ups for sure!

So a tour this summer according to Ronnie? Cool, now we need some specifics to start planning! I tried some "ground work" for a week in Vegas in June...not looking very promising...they need to come to Europe!

I hope they play at least one London show this year, end it where they started 50 yeas ago.

I can't imagine that the Stones' last show ever would be anywhere but in London. There were quite a few years where I thought I was already at that "very last show" in August of 2007 but they surprised me and came back for their 50th anniversary. I was lucky enough to attend the two Newark shows last December but now it's 2013, L.A. and Vegas are looming and I for one can't wait! smiling bouncing smiley

Ronnie at the NME Awards:

Wood told Reuters Television he wanted to do more live shows, including playing Glastonbury.

"Keep your eye out because you know I want to do some more (live shows) and I know that the boys do too," he said.

Asked about rumours the Stones could play at Glastonbury, one of the biggest European music festivals, for the first time in their long career, Wood replied:

"I want to do it badly, but I've no idea yet ... but I am just looking forward to. ... I know we're the best live, so I just hope we get it," he said.

Ronnie is always the best source of early leaks.

If they play festivals, it is a nice opportunity for those who don't want to pay high prices to see them. Festivals can, of course, be very unpleasant, but it's the one way to take their show to a large audience (including many younger potential fans) who can't afford the arena shows.

I hate festivals, but this summer I went to one day at Fuji Rock and saw Elvis Costello, Jack White and Radiohead, one after the other. I don't regret it.

festivals suck because you are confined to one stinky smelly place ,traffic usual sucks because it's one way in one way out .crap food ,long lines for concessions ,bathrooms etc. the only way to tolerate this is if you are blasted on something and that gets old after awile also .

Fun if you're 18, but most Rolling Stones fans might be a little old to be wallowing around in mud. They could end up playing to a relatively young audience that's there mainly to see the other bands. Not such a bad thing, since I'm sure they'll blow those other bands off the stage.

I considered going to Woodstock '94, but felt that at 35 I was already too old for such nonsense. I can handle about 6 hours of live music and then I'm done.

Hard Rock Calling in London is one of the most civilized festivals (you can barely call it that) in the world. This year it'll be at the Olympic Stadium. Glastonbury is probably already sold out. I would think that Hard Rock Calling would be a perfect match, and a very easy festival for older folks.

If you divide 500 dollars with 8 years it is 60 dollars per year. If you can't afford 60 dollars per year to see the Stones live one more time in your life then I am sorry. But please do NOT spread your economical frustrations about ticket prices or life in general here. It is not interesting.

Wow! Just divide the years they have been off the road with the current price of a ticket and you have a yardstick as to what it should be worth to you! Why didn't I think of that? 5 years = 60 months = 260 weeks = $500.00 = $1.92 per week!

WHO CAN'T AFFORD $1.92 PER WEEK? WHAT ARE YOU, CHEAP?

There will be a band meeting very shortly (in March). But yesterday, I was told HERE that BV said the band meeting had already taken place just before Ronnie had tea at the Savoy with some big-wigs.

For the life of me, I'm unable to find where that info is posted!! confused smiley

Would some kind soul provide the link to where BV (or whomever) CONFIRMED that the band meeting took place already?

Keith, Ronnie and Bill were in London, but where were Mick and Charlie? confused smiley (Were they kicked out of the band meeting?)tongue sticking out smiley

Wha...what is this? Wh...wh...what are we doing here? What in god's name are we doing? Our lives! What kind of lives are these? We're like children, we're not like men! We come up with these stupid reasons to post these one liners...are we gonna be sitting here when we're 60 like two idiots? We should be having dinner with our sons.

We're pathetic, you know that? Why can't we be normal? It would be nice, to care about someone. Yes, care.

Well this is it, I'm really gonna do something about my life...I'm going to call Melanie again.

Sounds good in theory, but the problem with setting aside a couple of dollars every week for a Rolling Stones ticket fund is that as soon as I have a certain amount saved up, I blow it on a hooker.

Apparently Ronnie told some dude (not sure if it was at that tea thing or after the NME awards) that they'd had a band meeting and that he wanted to tour this summer. Nothing very specific...

I don't really care about the price of tickets, if I can afford them I will go, if not I won't, but what I'm hearing here and there is that as one could fear after their ridiculous earnings for the 5 "50th and counting" concerts last year they're just waiting for someone to come up with yet more ridiculous amounts of cash to trot out their stuff...I guess it's a business so promoters who think they can still make some money will make no bones about that attitude but it's getting a bit ridiculous frankly...sad actually :-( On a more positive note I'm hearing that there might still be hope for Europe!

Keith is also in London (see the photos in front of Le Petit Maison Restaurant). A meeting would be possible. Maybe Ulli (one of the fans who had tea with Ronnie) is right and it already took place. Today is the first of march. Maybe in the next weeks. We don't know. But everything is possible.

Bullshit, to call the talk of Ulli Schroeder with Ronnie a bandmeeting. Its not like this Ulli is an important man,is he. He just owns a Stones museum. Nice that is in a way, but for the rest of no importance.

My guess is, the band meeting will take place end of March. Then we get the rehearsals and in may a tour announcement.
