BC Place? Surely you mean Christine Sinclair Place? winking smiley

Enjoy - and hang on to your seat until July 5 - it may be your only way in given the state of ticket sales.

Yes CS Place! I'm hoping Australia plays their starters. Friday night in Victoria they started most of their subs and lost 5-0. Also it's a final game for long time CANWT player Sophie Schidmt who is from nearby Abbotsford so she'll be recognized, too as well as long time goalkeeper Erin Macleod. I"m also glad TSN has decided to show the game so most of Canada can watch it.

We've got the atmospheric river in Seattle, too. Predicting 3 inches of rain in the next 36 hours. Not pleasant to be outside. After the 36 hours, more storms coming the rest of the week.

First winter storm of the year coming…freezing rain, snow, crud, and lots of it. This is the traditional day when Canadians wonder why the heck we live in this country and commence 4 months of whining, shovelling, complaining, shovelling, drinking and shovelling.

We have an Aussie joining us this year, an actual ‘Roo on the loose. Hope they capture the critter soon - this is no land for Aussies!

Yep, but it's pretty cold in Norway and Sweden now - Oslo -33°.

The weather in Sweden? We have had the coldest and snowiest winter in decades here. Especially in the north where I live. Lots of snow and temperatures down to -30 C and even below -40 C in some places far north.

OT: 2024 Hurricane Season
Posted by: GasLightStreet ()
Date: July 1, 2024 21:41

Category 4 Hurricane Beryl is in the Caribbean with 150 mph winds (241 km). Went directly over Carriacou with 150 mph winds, up from the weakened from 120 mph (225 km) just hours earlier.

Earliest major (category 3-5) hurricane in the Atlantic Ocean - ever - which, of course, also sets a record for June for farthest East in June, and one of the lowest latitude hurricanes (Ivan in 2004 was lower).

Sea Surface Temps are equivalent to mid-September, which is the peak of hurricane season. They've been above average since late April.

I don't live as close to the water as I used to so I don't need to be concerned about getting flooded but damn, high winds are high winds, and this season is predicted to be bad for the United States (hype is BUSIEST SEASON EVER EXPECTED... for the US) and the highest ever predicted.

The amount of major hurricanes, with exception to 2005 and 2020, has been steady, while lesser hurricanes and named storms has gone way up. 7 majors are expected this year. Beryl is the first one.

2019 Hurricane Barry delayed the Stones Superdome show by one day, which I went to - and Hurricane Dorian sped up the Miami show one day.

Berly is the earliest second named storm to become a hurricane.
