A mind blowing frontal storm system today in SE Louisiana. Just completely nuts. Not so much lightning and thunder, which there has been, but the amount of wind with rain has been incredible - and we're used to it! Although not reported officially, the amount of rain I saw today had to add up to about 4 inches. Nothing terrible... but quite unusual for winter here.

We started the day out today, Thursday, in the mid 70s F... tomorrow morning, wind chills in the teens F, with temps in the low 30s F and a cold week morning wise.

Hey, STG! Saw Unzipped in early January. Loved it. Hoping to see the Ron Wood Art Exhibit in the gallery in Waterloo before it closes.

There was a 185 degree (F) between Miami, FL and somewhere near Deadhorse, AK today.

On top of that, I saw windchills as low as -91 (F) in places.

Recently, here in SE Louisiana, we had a frontal storm system move through that was jaw dropping for a winter storm system.

What occurred was basically a spring frontal storm system - slow moving heavy training. Something I've not seen before.

People jump on the "oh climate has always changed" bullshit when something drastic happens - yet not to them. Generally it's some Gucci shithead living where nothing happens to them.

Yet... what happens to some is not necessarily because of climate change. How could I say CLIMATE CHANGE DID THIS! when on May 8, 1995, New Orleans got 21 inches or so, of rain?

There are particulars where one is. I would not look at California as a favorable place to live. 2021 was the second highest rain total for Louisiana, in New Orleans, at just over 86 inches (the record is just over 102 inches). Yet just east of here in Mississippi places got over 106 inches of rain. Give me rain over no rain.

Louisiana has the highest average rain fall for the the United States at about 65 inches. Prior to Hurricane Ida, Louisiana was on the verge of going over the average - that was in August!

Things are changing in the Pacific Ocean that have lead to the previous 2 hurricane seasons being so crazy storm amount wise - major hurricane wise, nothing has changed. Don't believe the "more stronger storms" hype. It's not true.

I live in SE Louisiana. I'm not a meteorologist but I am a hurricane freak. Things happened this way instead of Florida way the past couple years. That's just how it goes.

Y'all remember Hurricane Dorian, right?

Dorian was beyond incredible.

Hurricanes do funny things.

I'll take a hurricane over a blizzard any day.

Where I live in Epsom, we are surrounded by very tall and large trees, but although extremely strong winds, all has been fine.
Just about to venture into town centre and haven't heard of any bad things happened.

Fairly calm now about 6-7pm.

From a smoldering heatwave in Southern California last week, to a freezing hail storm this week ...crazy days...
