Is Doom & Gloom their best single since Start Me Up?
Posted by: tomcat2006 ()

I loved this track from the first time I heard it.

It's pure Stones and I've practically frazzled my car stereo pumping this song out. And it goes down great live too.

Does anyone think it's their best single in 30 years or am I the only one?

BTW, I was not very sure about One More Shot when I first heard it (too derivative etc) but absolutely love it now. Loud, of course!

*I'm not including the (IMHO) 'lost single' of Plundered My Soul here

I like it a lot, and it certainly seems to be getting a lot of attention and airplay... and from what I have read/people are saying that they are actually playing it in clubs and people are dancing to it... and if that is all true, then YES, you headline must be correct. thumbs up

GREAT SONG!!!

I like Rough Justice way more than Doom & Gloom. Jagger's vocals are better.

It's not even the best new song on GRRR.

That reminds me of the Lennon (I think) quote when asked if Ringo is the best drummer in the world.

Answer: "He's not even the best drummer in the Beatles."

Almost: Plundered my Soul was better, IMO, but Doom&Gloom, and One More Shot too, are amazing, quality stuff! Hoping for a new CD next year ....

Ha-ha, John was too much. What a sense of humour. And imo I choose "plundered my soul" for best single since "start me up".

Love is strong sounds like a winner to me. The harp!

It's their best since Saint of Me and Out of Control (IMO).

But yes, I am glad that they have put out such a great song. Most epole I know, whether stones fans or not, love the song!

Looking at Wikipedia, I noticed that it did worse in the UK charts than Biggest Mistake! And yet I've heard so many people commenting on D&G but I don't think anyone ever even heard BM! Maybe it's something to do with the music industry nowadays? It gets played all the time on Radio 2 for sure.

It really is great. I think that Love Is Strong and Out Of Cotrol were also brilliant, plus Saint Of Me...Well, I will not say that it is their best single in the past 30 years, but for me it surely is one of the top five in that period. And it surely is much batter than what I expected.

C'mon : Mixed Emotions, R A A Hard Place, Out Of Tears, Saint Of Me, OO Control, One Hit To The Body were better.
